Spider-Man, The Amazing Thread

Not sure. I think DeMatteis will come and go, just like he did in Spider-Man Family.

Amazing Spider-Man is still being published once three times a month. Web of Spider-Man is coming out once a month. Basically, Web of Spider-Man is taking the place of Spider-Man Family and all of those Spider-Man one shots they were doing to tell extra / bonus BND stories.

…wait, really? i haven’t been keeping up much with marvel stuff, especially after civil war.

(found out about the whole mephisto fiasco and was not pleased.)

on another note, there’s this Av Brawl competition going on in the Prem forums, and i made a spider-man avatar for my match yesterday:

and, here’s just the “background” by itself:

if anyone wants to use either of these (you need to be a premium member), let me know.

Wow that’s nice!

Yeah in the new Clone Saga series Peter is still married to MJ, she just found out she is pregnant and Aunt May is dying. I don’t know where this story was going but the original plan for the Clone Saga (I suppose this depends on who you listen to) was to have Peter be the real Spider-Man, let baby May be born and have Ben Reilly join the New Enforcers and not die. Whether or not this was in the original notes for the story (which this comic is based on) I have no idea. Issue 2 is supposed to reveal who the clone is.

The story was like visiting an old friend since just to me, the quality of BND wavers from writer to writer. It was the Spider-Man I was used to. I re-read the first issue about 4 times now. I never do this. So glad to see Peter Parker and Spider-Man characters being recognizable again. :lovin:

Personally, I love the JMS run for what it did for Aunt May. Y’know, making her an actually intelligent, competent character instead of a bumbling old lady who was completely unaware of the world around her. She’s still not quite as bad as she was pre JMS, but BND really took a blow to Aunt May’s character again.

I still wish Aunt May stayed dead in issue #400. However her knowing Spider-Man’s secret made her a great character. Now with BND she’s gone back to being the same old boring character again. “Oh that Mr. Li (AKA Mr. Negative) is such a nice man!” rings so much like “Oh that Doctor Octopus is such a nice man!” bit she did in the 60s and 70s… I guess her running a soup kitchen gave her something to do. I still don’t know about her meeting JJJ’s dad and marrying him after like a few months but that one might not last.

New Clone Saga issue #2 today!

Clone Saga #2 and Anti-Venom #2 were really great reads! Yesterday I was also really happy to pick up the Spider-Man comic strip collection by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., going back to 1977 when the strip first started! Doctor Doom was in their very first story, DOOM!

Stan Lee receives Comic Con Icon Award at the Screem Awards from Tobey Maguire!

I still don’t know what’s up with the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon’s future but Rollman and Yost have said that it is over and done with. I haven’t heard of any official cancellation announcement yet so here’s hoping it manages to continue.

"While both Yost and Rollman will currently politely duck out regarding their company?s recent acquisition by Disney (the deal hasn?t been approved yet), admit that ?Spectacular Spider-Man? is done and over and not comment on the status of BET?s ?Black Panther? series, they still see their future as incredibly rosy. As Rollman points out, the time is just perfect for superhero entertainment."

Weisman’s response to the comment about Spectacular Spider-Man being over and done.

I really enjoyed the recent Chameleon arc. Is the new ongoing Web of Spider-Man any good?

Only issue came out but yeah it was great! DeMattais with a Kane story, DeFalco with Spider-Girl and McKeever writing Spider-Man again! It was like the ol’ Spider-Man Family book was back.

Man I keep forgetting…what are good Spiderman TPBs to get for younger readers? For some crazy odd reason Spidey & Red Sonja comes to mind -_-;;;;

Amazing Spider-Man Essentials, the Lee and Ditko run. If they are watching Spectacular Spider-Man it will enhance their viewing experience since it borrows heavily from that run. Besides every Spider-Man fan needs to read that run, it’s pretty much the Spider-Man Bible.

Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel Adventures Spider-Man (actually made with young readers in mind), Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and the Spider-Man Newspapers Strip collection vol. 1. Any of those will do.

Thanks Sano :lovin:
What about Spidey series from the past decade? What are some recommended ones?

Last decade stuff that I didn’t mention? Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in its entirety followed by JMS’ run on ASM. Not really sure how kid friendly JMS’ run is, probably ‘The Other’ and Sins Past has some more adult content than usual but if they normally watch rated R movies than they are fine.

Spider-Girl is always great too.

I have never read an USM, can I hop in at Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1?

Pretty much, yeah.

I’d recommend going back and buying up the original, though.
There’s about a 135 issues worth of great stuff to read.

@Sano- lol, those I’d give to err ‘teenagers’ for the most part, but thanks again for the recommendations

Were there any more episodes of Spectacular Spider Man after Brock turned into Venom? That’s the last one I remember watching, and it’s upsetting that the show was canceled because it wasn’t half bad.

It wasn’t canceled. Not officially anyway. It’s on Disney XD Wednesday nights at 9:00.

Do you mean after Eddie became Venom after season 1 or when he transformed season 2? The show has continued after both of those events. Granted, I’m watching it on TV so I have 2 more episodes to go to wrap up season 2.

There is no season 3 yet and we are all basically waiting to see if Disney will pick it up again, we should now by the end of November for certain.

The entire second season is still on YouTube if you need to catch up.

If you wish to help the show out and you have the extra cash to spend, buy Spectacular Spider-Man Season 1 on DVD or any products related to the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon, like toys and so on. That’s the easiest way to tell Disney that the show has fans.

Weisman and co. have no idea how the show is doing in the ratings. Right now, it’s following Naruto Shippuden which is a really good thing since Naruto’s hella popular. Well even if you saw the episodes on YouTube please watch ESPECIALLY if you have a Nielsen Box.

Reeve Carney IS Peter Parker in the Spider-Man Musical. Aaaaalrighty then…
