Spider-Man Family #4 was SOOOO GOOD! :lovin:
There was a BND story like always, but it was an Untold Story, by J.M. DeMatteis! :clapdos: He told the story of when Peter Parker first found out that Harry Osborn was alive, which was fitting because he was the one who killed him off in the first place heh! He referenced lots of older stories and told some untold stories of course lol! Mainly of when Peter Parker first met Harry in college, nothing that contradicts Lee/Ditko/Romita Sr. but just more info. You won’t get the full story of Harry’s ressurection here since Slott’s 2 part Molten Man arc fills in the rest of the blank spots, but enough to get you by.
The most interesting thing was when Harry told Spider-Man he ‘died’ three years ago. DeMatteis shows that he’s a really competent writer by picking that number, or it was blind luck, I dunno. To shed some light on this, Harry died just before Maximum Carnage. So naturally we do have to cram a lot of storylines in 3 years but that’s how HYPER-TIME works. :looney: Still, if you go by the years laid out in the books - http://www.spideykicksbutt.com/SpiderMan101/SpiderMan101Part6.html - Spider-Man was about 27 at the end of the Clone Saga. If we say Harry’s death, Max Carnage, fake parents saga and the Clone Saga happened in the same year (Clone Saga can’t last long really due to MJ’s pregnancy) then 3 years later that puts Spider-Man at 30 where most fans put Spidey anyway!
Could be simpler than all of that and stuff. Harry’s son little Normie was not shown to have aged much, more than 3 years would be hard to swallow. Course child guest stars never age. Artie, Leech, and it seems like no one can decide if the Lizard’s son Billy Connors is a teenager now (um, he should be at least) or if he is the same exact freaking age he was during the Lee/Ditko days. Don’t get me started on never aging Franklin Richards… :clown:
Marvel does like to say that Spider-Man’s 25-26, the problem with that is that it contradicts a lot of numbers given in books and he did 4 years of college which would age him to be 21. You wind up cramming a heck of a lot more into 4/5 years. Me I say he’s 30 heh! Still younger than me though…
STFU NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT STUFF YOU CONTINUITY PORNOGRAPHER ROFL! Okay moving along…
Mr. And Mrs. Spider-Man actually had a BND character show up, WHOA…
Mr. And Mrs.
Spoiler
Carlie Cooper showed up at the end, working at a Police Station. Granted, I do not like Carlie AKA fake Gwen and Debra Whitman combined but at the end she gives Peter Parker a business card after seeing him in his scientist gear (he works at ESU college) telling him to call the department. Seems like she is leading him on the path to become the Forensic Cop he becomes in Spider-Girl. Hey nice use of hindsight there DeFalco!
Amazing Spider-Ma’am where Aunt May has Spider powers, just like last time around I can take it or leave it… Please lose this to give upcoming Spider-Girl more pages lol!
Spider-Ham started in the book, well it was really Swiney-Girl as in his daughter and stuff. Written by DeFalco again! All past Spider-Ham continuity was ignored lol, Peter Porker got his powers a different way and his wife ain’t a Water Buffalo, she’s Mary Crane Watsow… :looney: DeFalco’s really good with Spidey’s comic book history - I mean he has written two books on the subject - but I guess no one is hardcore enough to follow Spider-Ham history, crap! Well, Green Goblin was Green Gobler and Spider-Ham used to have the Hobgobler, I’ll take it! Anyway it was a comedic retelling of Spider-Girl’s first appearance in the What If issue. Very funny but I did not like the artwork. Instead of the characters looking cute they just looked scary oooh…
The reprint this time was a Lee/Gil Kane story involving Harry’s drug addiction and Norman becomming the Green Goblin again. Fun!
Best Spidey book on the stands right now and it will only get better. SPIDER-GIRL NEXT TIME! :clapdos:
