Temporarily lifting the one day ban I imposed on myself in the Marvel thread to help you out lol!
I’m not sure I’m the right person to ask since I’m a single issue guy and not really a TPB one and on top of that I read the ASM DVD Collection at a snails pace (I’m only up to 1967…) but to the best of my ability…
The Complete DVD-Rom has every single ASM issue, up to 2006. It does not contain Web or Spectacular issues sadly, only ASM including annuals.
I remember that story. I have those issues somewhere. I checked the DVD-Rom and Tombstone did not appear on the cover of any issues during the 90s. I thiiiink that went down in Spectacular. It might of been Web but I’m leaning towards Spectacular. If you want to wait a few weeks when I get to organizing my comics I can give you a better answer. Again, don’t know much about TPBs.
Well it’s the same exact story, MJ hasn’t put webbing on the windows yet though lol!
Nah seriously, don’t know. I have all of the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man issues, most of Sensational and all of the JMS ASM issues but that story I just do not recall. Reggie might know?
Knight and Fogg first appeared in Spectacular Spider-Man #166. Hmm starting to wonder if most of the stories you want are from Spectacular?
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. First the Marvel thread and now this, pretty worthless today. Perhaps Reggie, Zephyranthes, P.Gorath, Apathy-Inc. or someone else might fill in some of my blind spots…
I was at the Super Hero Hype boards last week and there was a thread discuss fav Peter/MJ moments. Ironically, I saw scans of the very issue PersonaDark is talking about, but I don’t know what title its from unfortunately. My some of my fellow Spiderfan.org staff members would know.
The meeting of Spidey & Tombstone from Spectacular #139-142 is dope! One of Gerry Conway’s best stories. It hasn’t even sure if it’s been collected. You may be able to find the issues in the back issue boxes at your comic shop. I was able to get 3/4 of mine at my shop.
Old as dirt debate but Gwen would have died if she hit the water, right?
A Death in the Family is my favorite Spider-Man story. All of Jenkins’ run is magical, but that arc in particular is my favorite. The TPB is pretty cheap, assuming it’s still in print. The characterization of Spidey and Osborn is just remarkable and the story shows their twisted relationship with each other. I really like it because it’s dark and kind of grim, but it also has a strange, awkward humor to it and is ultimately a story about optimism and hope - pretty much everything that sums up Spider-Man.
Quick Rundown of Spider books I read this week. SPOILERS!!
Amazing Spider-Girl #21
Oh snap! Ohhhh SNAAAAAAAHAAAHHHHAAAAP!!! According to Norman Osborn’s notes, the May that Normie found is the real Mayday Parker. Of course we all know this isn’t true but Peter doesn’t know that! Meanwhile Sara has gotten fed up with May brushing her off and joins up some other mutants and attacks Spider-Girl. And Gene Thompson is a penis that Mayday needs to drop. Now.
Ultimate Spider-Man #122
Spidey is caught and unmakes (again) but we get some background on Shocker and we get to see MJ and Kitty work together to find Peter. A nice sinlge issue story before symbiote wars kicks off. Good stuff.
Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #40
David Nakayama, who drew some excellent art in MASM #38, and the awesome cover to MASM #36 handles the art for this issue. I love how he draws both Peter and Spidey. In fact, I think his art is some of the best I’ve seen in this series. Anyway, Amora tricks Spidey into becoming her warrior and fighting off the other gods of Asgard to reclaim her place in the kingdom. Spidey looks PIMP in his Thor duds. I had someone make me an av of Spider-Thor at the CBR forums. This is another fun issue of MASM. Read this series. Very enjoyable stuff.
I’ll pass that along to him.
I know he had a lot of fun with that issue (Spidey-Thor) and a little bit of a headache. Enchantress couldn’t be too sexy)
Thanks. I bookmarked his deviant art page and pimped his MASM #40 art in my blog. I hope he gets more work on the book. Dude rocks.
OK, guys, so I just read Spectacular Spider-Man #121, written by Peter David. In this issue we get a story from the POVs of Peter, MJ and Jonah Jameson. This could be one of the funniest Spidey books I’ve ever read. I laughed so freaking much reading it. I’m planning to write a review of it. Search your back issue bins for SSM #121!
Is it me or do the white goons fighting on the side of the building look a lot like Anti-Venom from the upcoming ‘New Ways to Die’ arc in Amazing? Then again I think the whole storyline is about symbiotes anyway so that shouldn’t be that big of a shock.
I just finished reading the digest of Marvel Adventures Spider-Man vol. 1. This is simple, clean, good stuff. The first story is a modern day retelling of Spider-Man’s origin. The second and third stories pit Spidey against the Sinister Six. And the fourth tale has Spidey teaming up with the Human Torch. In the 4th story there’s this loser villain named Street who keeps trying to tell his origin story but keeps getting interrupted by Spidey and it becomes a running gag. Funny stuff.
She would be but Peter decided to be a spineless, balless scrub, go against his aunt’s wishes, and let her live on devil power. That’s right, devil power.
