I just naturally assumed that the kid that appeared in OMD was Baby May or Mephisto’s manifestation / representation of her and that it was the child that Norman had hidden all of these years. Marvel doesn’t say one way or another and leaves it kind of open. Though yeah, I thought that was Marvel’s way of stopping that loose end (for those who cared about that sort of thing) before the retcon, May was never born in 616 now thanks to Spider-Man’s deal with Mephisto. Mad Goblin of the Spidey Kicks Butt site came to the same conclusion I did about OMD. It’s kind of open though.
I mean, so long as Mary Jane Watson doesn’t blow her brains out May can still be born down the line. You might as well imagine any future for Spider-Man that you want to if he’s gonna remain single in all future 616 comics… :looney:
Picked up my first issue of Amazing Spider-Girl. #19, where she fights Arana. Man, this is some freaking dope stuff. Ron Frenz is still a dope artists and Tom Defalco is still one of my fav Spider writers.
Did you pick up Defalco’s American Dream #1 this week? It’s in the same universe as Spider-Girl and features Captain America’s daughter, American Dream. Nauck’s drawings of
her, daaaaayumn… :hitit:
I saw that at my shop. I may pick it up. Gonna get some more Spider-Girl.
FNSM Annual is good. Someone finally gave Sandman a back story besides his mother not knowing he’s a super villain. Does the broad not know how to turn on a TV?
…but was it a good read? or should I just pick it up for Dream’s ass and tits?
Also what about Patriot, does a black man with super soldier genes get no love in alternate futures?
Yeah it was a good read. I talked about the story a little more in the Marvel thread heh. Written by Defalco so no worries. There’s lots of things I didn’t say about other possible Avengers children in the book but I didn’t want to spoil too much.
The thing you have to understand about the M2-verse is that it’s like Marvel’s universe up until just about the Clone Saga wraps, and then everything changes. So Aunt May still croaks in 400 and everything you took as fact during that time still happens in the M2-verse. The Truth, the story anyway wasn’t out yet, so would there even be a Patriot? Not saying it isn’t possible and if people ask for him to show up who knows but for the time being we can’t be 100% sure that The Truth even occurred in the M2-verse. Without The Truth, you can’t have Patriot. Arguably in the M2-verse they already have young-er Avengers so not entirely sure if they have to reference a previous Young Avengers team, when they can reference the OG team. It’s kind of tricky because in M2 time moved forward, a lot and in 616 time doesn’t move forward that much…
But yeah if enough people ask about it, who knows, maybe Patriot will get mentioned or even show up. We’ll have to see. Again it’s tricky. M2 is like the future of the 90s, not the 00s…
maxx are you not buying anything Spidey related or are you just not buying Amazing Spider-Man? I feel your pain, man. I had respect for Joe Q until he pulled this stunt. At least ASG, MASM, SMF, and USM are still entertaining.
EDIT: American Dream was all gone! Maybe I should look for the Avengers Next mini. DeFalco did that too.
So I picked up Amazing Spider-Girl #20. The ending, in two words: OH. SNAP.
I also picked up Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #8. The Gwen Stacy clone returns and Peter finally realizes that MJ is the love of his life. At least he did until countless other writers decided to drudge up her memory and constantly shove it in our faces.
Well ASM is now a editorial mandated Spider-Man. At CRB forums, we call him Quesada’s Generic Spider-Man. Joe Q wants Spidey to be as he was in the old days. Except his version sucks.
Yeah, I knew Quesada had a hand in this easily, but to make it this bad?! Ugh…I’m done after next week, but Mike McKone is gonna be doing pencils for the book start on #562.
