Registration starts when the store opens at 10am and will end at 5pm. The tournament will start at 6pm and don’t be late because this tournament will likely run late as it is.
The tournament will be standard NDT format.
Games: SSFIV2012, UMVC3, Persona4:BA, SFXT (Gems Options still pending must do research)
System: Xbox360
All games will be:
Best 2/3 double elimination.
Losers Finals, Winners Finals and Grand Finals best 3/5
The pot will be split 70/20/10 with a $10 entry fee, $2 out of the 10 will go towards the venue.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING SFXT: I put a lot of thought into whether or not to allow gems. I came up with a solution. Any Gems that were released up till now that were free will be used excluding the assist gems.
Now here is the most important part. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR GEM NUMBERS MEMORIZED TO INPUT THEM IN THE SELECT SCREEN! I dont care if you have to write them down but you will NOT be able to exit and customize your gems outside the character select screen or you will forfeit the match. If you can not remember your gems numbers then you must go with no gems or the stock pre determined gems. If people come crying to me about said rules there will be no further tournaments with gems allowed till further notice.
UPDATE: WE MOVED THE TOURNAMENT INSIDE AND CASUALS WILL START AROUND 12.

If there will be a stream I will let you know and also provide a link to the stream. Due to the tournament being outside and a special event there may not be a stream.
I wanted to throw this out there. We have 8-10 setups for sure. I want to run more games but dont have enough resources. If you want to see another game or would like to bring some extra setups for Persona or SFXT please let me know.

Is there anymore information regarding the stream? I’m in Lodi but not sure if I will be able to come out to the venue. However I would like the see some of the matches
Not sure. I will have to make a few phone calls tomorrow. The last NDT we had a problem with a missing adapter. Audio Video to HDMI adapter. The store just bought one for us to use so I have to figure out if Moe is gunna come out and is willing to use his equipment outside or if Nicole the manager of the venue is going to use hers. Either way I will do all I can. I also gotta lock down commentators who know what they are talking about or I will have to do it myself but that would be a problem due to me having to run brackets and what not.
Either way I will try my hardest to make it happen. Keep posted.
Thanks man for the update. I’m new to SRK and I was wondering how often you have events like this and if they are always in this area or if they move around
Always the same venue and tournaments are usually once every other month but we are changing that. We will also be starting weeklies ever Saturday after this next tournament.
It’s sort of a difficult rule to enforce. The new gems are mixed in with the original set of gems, as far as their number goes. Each player would have to individually memorize which gems were on the original load out to accurately enforce the rule. I’m also not even sure where players could find a list of all the gems, let alone the original gems.
Well if you go to edit your gem unit outside of character select, you can see which gems are the original and which ones are DLC. The Downloadable ones have shopping carts next to them so all players have to do is memorize a gem set up that doesn’t use any of those gems. Unless you plan to download the free gem packs then they can memorize a gem setup using those gems as well.
I am hating this game more and more ><, especially as a tournament organizer. I know that there are certain teams that need gems to be played as intended and yet at the same time the gems can cause big problems. (Obviously the Assist Gems wouldnt be allowed but how to enforce the rules and keep players honest is near impossible.)
It’s seems odd that Capcom would add something that ruins the balance of the game especially since they’re consistent with that. How does EVO deal with gems? That could be one way to do it
Well, assist gems are split off into their own section, so it wouldn’t be hard to keep them off.
The biggest problem I see is there would be no way of telling if someone is using a DLC gem of any sort from the Vs. mode input screen unless you just happened to know.
For the record, I don’t think the regular free DLC is bad at all.
Well Standard is no gems at all. But I wanted to give it a chance. The problem is keeping people honest. (Which shouldnt be a problem) I need to figure something out fast because the tournament is coming up next week. Maybe I could talk to mad and just make him in charge of SFXT.
