Spark/SparkCE Optical Joystick Sensor for JLF

What is with the necrobumps today? If Toodles was able to see this through you would have known about it because LL/Aki would be selling them.

Tech Talk needs more necrobumps to return it to its former glory.

$30 shipped for the barest minimum kit you’d have, dont need the fancy stuff, I have a soldering iron

Edit: LMAO, just saw the date on the posts. Hey Toodles! We still want it! haha

hells yea I want some

Sorry for digging up the dead here, but…

After catching up on all that has transpired with this, and then for it to come so close yet so far is beyond heartbreaking for me.

If funding the mold is the problem, then maybe we need to start taking preorders on this… Like I mean put at least 10 bucks down, or maybe the whole price of the unit…

I’m sure a lot of people would be willing to pay 50 bucks for this, and I’d be down for 2 for sure. If Marcus needs 5 grand to get the mold going, all we need is 500 preorders for this sucker… Sounds insane, but I know we can do it… As long as what I’m getting is as good as a real Flash1 board, I will preorder mine in full.

If 250 people preorder 2 each, this can happen. I don’t want to see this die. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. We just need others who are willing to do the same.

I’ll put $60 dollars each for two of them when it comes out.
Don’t let it be duke nukem forever.

I still believe!

Anyway, I’d be seriously down for one of these. The biggest incentive would be that based on what Toodles was planning for the PCB design, these would have a built in voltage regulator. I mean, really, you just can’t beat having everything there in one package! No need to buy a regulator or anything.

hey toodles, maybe you can change your mind? i’m in for 10 units. no joke. i REALLY want to see this come to fruition, not just cause i love optical sticks myself, but because i think there has to be a significant amount of other players who have never really been exposed to an optical alternative who would like them just as much.

I’m game for this one aswell tbf. Plus I’m sure other retailers would stock this stuff too, you already have a good rep so that works to your advantage. Just have to wait abit untill the word has spread about your awesome sticks!

How come when I made suggestion to help out Toodles, no one said anything? :crybaby:
Then now jubrany comes in and everyone replies?
I’m just bad at persuading and attention.
Laugh.

These two Cuties did say this though:

Let us see this project to complete!

Wow XMetal, that is a lot.
I would buy ten also, but not at once.

i myself would by 4 at the least! let’s gooooo Toodles!

  1. I’d probably buy a complete for $40-$50.

  2. I would get a kit but soldering small stuff has never been my forte.

  3. Depending on how I like it, I may or may not purchase more. Now if you made a similar version for the LS-32. I’d buy five in a heart beat.

NINJA EDIT: Oh damn, made in 2007. Oh well, either way, I’d still get at least one.

I’d definitely be down for at least one.

Maybe get Madcatz to help Toodles’ out?

That’s an interesting idea. Personally wouldn’t be averse to seeing a TE with an optical out of the box, even if it only used MadCatz JLF clone body.

If any of you guys have been following the Pandora project, you’ll know exactly how disgustingly laborious and expensive it is to have injection moulding done for you. It’s cheapest to have it done in China, but you have to be fully prepared to adhere to their way of working, which we are not used to, and then there’s the language barrier. Even without any of that stuff, you are looking at a minimum order of about 10,000 units.

I think that unless Toodles is about to win the lottery, the only feasible way to have the moulding done is if all interested parties pay up front so that the cash can go into having the housing produced, but I’m not sure that there would be enough people willing to do that.

I don’t suppose there’s any mileage in asking Sanwa if they still have their flash1 housing moulds that they might be willing to part with?

I really reeeeally want to see this happen!

Damn, I was getting so hype reading the first 4 pages of this thread, and then suddenly I realized the date on one of the posts /facepalm. Instead of blueballs, I got blueJLF’ed lol

I’d buy the fully built one with DC-DC chip for $40. Since it is just the PCB, and I kinda compare it to the price of just the normal JLF PCB marked @$15 ish.

But as a couple of the other guys have suggested, work with madcatz? that would be so great. Hit Markman up I say.

Count me in for a few…I also agree to give Markman a call.

at least three completes. and i would pay 60 to 80 for them

Do want

Alright, alright, I’ll open the project back up. But please understand its going to take some time, but I’ll post up my progress.
