Spark/SparkCE Optical Joystick Sensor for JLF

its a replacement for just the microswitch pcb in a JLF. the stick comes with dust washers already. It would look cool if it came with a dustwasher/logo like the flash but I doubt that was in the plan for these.

I thought this was amusing.

Is there an “interested” list somewhere that I can sign up to?

I’d like to know what the price will be so I can start trying to push it in the UK.

I’d like to know this as well.

As long as it won’t make buying a JLF a $100 ordeal I can see these selling with every JLF sold. Do you want it to be exclusive to only those that can afford a $200 sanwa flash for their $150 sticks or are you going to flood the masses with an upgrade that they can afford to buy with every stick they have that houses a JLF.

Look man, bring me in

I still need to get quotes for the assembled boards , which wont happen until I get the housing prototypes. I also need to figure out what all will be going in each kit (definitely a power cable and welcome sheet, maybe stickers), and a rough idea how much labor is going to be needed on my end for the assembly of the boards, assembly of the kits, testing of the board, etc. I’m sorry, I just don’t know yet, and I can’t set a price until I know what all my costs are.

Thanks for the update.

Agreed - that update was boom. Glad to hear things are still on track.

I’m guessing their won’t be a ‘kit’ option when buying these things from you?

From what Toodles has said in the past, you get the Flash PCB which is a simple swap with the standard JLF PCB plus the power cable.

These PCBs are really meant for PS3 and XBox 360 connections since their OEM PCB’s have +5V power support.

He’s said in past posts that he will come up with a tutorial for people who want to use the Flash PCB with non-USB joystick types but that the solder work and buying of voltage converters to enable use on older generation PCB’s will be up to the end-user. He wants to make the PCB as easy to install and use out of the package which I can certainly appreciate. It’ll be much cheaper for everybody that way than trying to make an “all-options” PCB that will just complicate everything…

+5v is the way to go, so yes please to that.

Sparky keeps on making me smile. I got Arcana Heart 3 in today and Sparky keeps up with all of the frantic crazyness the game has to dish out.

I feel like a bastard for it, but I gotta say it; please don’t call it ‘Sparky’. I really don’t want there to be any confusion between this, Spark, and 32teeth’s LED controlling board the SparkyJr (which is I think a subset of a larger Spark board or project he’s working on). Things can get confusing around here pretty quick, but I want to try and make sure there’s no confusion between these. Entirely different projects and design goals.

With that said:

  1. I’m glad its doing you good. Abuse that sucker, it’ll take it.
  2. I’m hella jelly you got AH3.

No prob. AH3 is super fun

Maybe consider renaming the “Spark” to “Lightning” cause when it strikes I think it might make some noise.

Toodles if this project comes though, be sure I going to order at least 2 flash replacement units when it comes out.

Samples have been made with the mold and should arrive here for me to play with in a week. If all is golden as it should, then housing production can start 2/14. Sorry, sorry, these wont be available in time for MvC3 release, but if all goes to plan they should be available mid-March to early April.

Wait, what. I thought the plastic had to be black? something to do with reflection of light?

edit: It does look awesome though! Do I sense potential for different coloured enclosures?

It has to be opaque. No reason I can’t have fun with the color
