SPANKSGIVING! Cincinnati, Ohio Tourney 11/17/2007

Spanksgiving 2007. Cincinnati, Ohio November 17, 2007.

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but I finally have venue for a tourney here in “The Nati”. It will be held at Game City 360 in Newport, Kentucky (Right across the river from Cincy). Entry will be $5 at the door and $10/ game entered. The games and times are:

1:00 PM Tekken DR / 3rd Strike
1:00 PM Melee
2:30 PM MVC2 / GGXX Accent Core
5:00 PM ST / CVS2

Payout / game is 70/20/10

Pre registration is available.

There are plenty of places to eat and drinks are available on location. It’s right next door to a Game Works and an AMC theatre, so if you don’t feel like practicing or just watching matches, you’re welcome to see a movie or, I don’t know, play some DDR.

There will be TV, and newspaper coverage of this event. WXIX Fox 19 and Cincinnati Enquirer.

Thanks, and I hope to see a lot of new faces and some faces I already know.

Hah, I new it couldn’t REALLY be in Cincinnati.

hey josh, hopefully you haven’t already booked this place because i think fugi and ghaleon are holding their big columbus tourney with jwong and other huge names on the same day. and cvs2 not being a main tourney game? you’re killing me man, lol.

peace

Haha Nati represent. For ya’ll that don’t know there’s a tournament up @ Game Junkie IN Cincinnati on September 8th. We got a little action coming up it seems…I’m excited.

ill do my best to make it out for this, but you have to make sure you arent competing with fugi’'s tourny. work together to space ohio events out.

Fugee and Ghaleons is pretty set in stone and big names are probably coming from east and west coast.

Yeah, changing date and name now. Fugee just called me.

Yeah, chase jones told me about that tonight. I might be there. Also, game junkie owes me like 4 shirts from tournaments I have won.

As far as games go, Dan, it might change if I get enough shouts for CVS2. You get people to post that they want it, I’ll make sure it’s a full tourny with full prize.

ooh lost of action…

Dude im in for Naruto 4! Get it going.

Anyone interested in playing some casual Big bang beat, VS, SST , KOF XI, poke battling?

I’ve got your VS match. Wanna do money match? Say $10?

Sweet shit! Josh, u know I’m down 4 this tourney bro. I’ll help run the Tekken tourney since…well…it’s pretty much the game I play.

I’ll talk 2 the guys @ Game City 2 get Tekken DR there instead of Tekken 5. I think that would be better for all the Tekken heads that’ll be going or would go 2 this since that’s the Tekken game that’s played in tournies now. I’ll also post this on Tekkenzaibatsu once things are set in stone.

I noticed a lot of ppl talking about fugee & ghaleon’s tourney going on the same day. I thought they were having Season’s Beatings on Oct 20, not sometime in November. Did they change the date, or are they having another tournament after the one on Oct 20 as well???

Just post up on here Josh or call me up & let me know what’s going down 4 this tourney. Take care everyone. Peace. :china:

Yeah, I had the date as October 20th originally. Changed it to the 17th of November.

Ah, Season’s Beatings (first used for UFGT2k2, the final one). I didn’t know they were still using the name. Memories! :lovin:

When I carefully consider the cost of visiting for this tournament, I have to also consider other massively expensive things that I want to acquire this year (electric guitar + amp, and a digital video camera). And I just HATE that drive to cincinnati from here.

I hope it goes well though.

Josh, put CvS up there as official, it’ll get played. GS getting this off the ground. What happened to summer???

Please tell me you’re joking about HD sets for all games. Laaagggg. I have a thing where we can hook up 1 DC lag free but that’s it :stuck_out_tongue: You prob want to keep it to 2X" CRTs like the usual.

Season’s Beatings is an old name? haha, didn’t mean to steal your thunder, fugee just came up w/ it.

This is the week before Thanksgiving? I should be able to bring equipment/help run like usual if need be.

why does half the entry price mean half the payout? what kinda math is that???

also hd tvs are bad.

JBEENE, Hey man good shit on the tourny, but could you PPPLLLEEAASSEE start the Tekken dr tourny later than 11am cause I get in from out of town late the night before since it a 2 hour drive for me im going to get like no sleep. If u could push it back to 1 or 2 pm or later I would REALLY APPRCIATE it.

Id worry about the HD TV lag too. Yeah, Jose and I used Seasons Beating for UFGT2k2. Fugee and Jose both couldnt make it to that one though, as it was in cleveland and the date was too close to xmas for half my crew. (we celebrated new years together during the tourny. awesome weekend)

Im being asked to come to a Missouri tournament in dec/jan as well. I just dont know what to do. I can’t afford all this fighting scene travel unles I start winning money! (lol)

I have taken care of the HD problem. Those we can’t convert will just be replaced by other TVs. The owner of this place is being really awesome. CVS is now official.

Spearl, I have no problem with moving Tekken back to a bit later, but it would throw things off a bit. Any game I swap with another will really hurt turn out for those games. That’s why none of the Street Fighter games are run together. Also, There will be a big turn out for tekken, and it might take a bit longer. For now, the current schedule stands. My recommendation to you is try to up your time table or have someone sign up for you and we’ll try to push back you first match as long as possible. Just keep me posted.

I think you could realistically start 3s/DR around 1, Marvel/GG at like 2:30, CvS2/ST maybe 4. Def don’t want to be starting a tourney after 7 p.m. though. As long as things run smoothly the schedule will probably work out fast. 11 is too early to start a tourney and to tell travellers to be there by.

We always make SSBM it’s own thing to run all day in its own section, because the scene doesn’t really associate w/ other fighters and that shit takes forever (they usually do teams), so I’d think about advertising that earlier.

Sounds like a good place.

When we did UFGT 2k2 spring break, we played each game on 4-5 TVs and didnt overlap with any other game until finals were over. We had 32 people and finished each 2/3 double elim bracket in 2 hours this way.

At UFGT2k2 Season’s Beatings, we played each game on 2 TVs, with 16 people, and we had two separate games running at once. Again, we finished each in about two to three hours (even extending finals to 3/7).

I think there is value in drawing attention to your finals, but it hasnt worked out for me in the past. Ghaleon is right about smashers… they are in their own little world for the most part.
