Demon Jim: Here is the official link to our next tourney… going to be HUGE! Definitely planning to make this a major next year (we’ll see what San Antonio does first though…we love and respect those guys too)
Some of us enthusiasts in Odessa, Tx have arranged a new series of tournaments for SSF4 players in west Texas starting August 26th. We have a nice venue and hope to bring more local players or anyone that happens to be in the area at the time. More info in the “permian basin fighters” thread… Hopefully we can change the name of the thread soon =D
Just to clarify–if we have enough time for 2v2 @ TX Bar Fights (and I think we will!), it will be $20 per team ($10 per each player) to go straight into the pot.
We have had a ton of positive response so we are pretty excited!
I may have to move the date for Monster Mash. We got a much bigger venue, but I’m running into trouble with the dates. They said November 6th was the best we could do but I realized Dallas is having a major that day. For now it’s the 23rd, but I’m trying my hardest to get the details ironed out.
I started posting this in cities threads, but think is the appropriate place to post this. So…
Central Texas Brawl Jan 29, 2011
As you all know, Killeen (Central TX) is putting together a huge tourney coming up. Recently, we’ve hit a snafu due to many of our players leaving for school/military duty obligations and the people that are still here work full time and are having trouble managing the time we have to get sponsors and such.
I originally planned this tourney as a collaboration of all of Texas (because we were trying to resurrect the TS series) and am asking everyone for assistance in making this happen. If you know of any possible sponsors that would love to help, contacts, donate setups, and even small donations to cover the venue cost if we can’t lock down sponsors to pay for it themselves. My inbox almost full, but feel free to post in the Central TX - Killeen thread if you have ideas or suggestion or can help in any fashion.
For those willing to donate… hell, we’ll even take $1 or just about anything! please send to: centraltexasbrawl[at]gmail(dot)com
Would tournament directors like to work together for a cross promotion type of system?
In other words, I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.
Getting a good attendance number can be hard especially trying to hype a tournement in other cities where you normally don’t have a strong presence. Sure, we have the forum. But word of mouth spreads its roots far further and deeper than SRK in most cases.
If we, tournament directors/organizers, work together to promote other cities tournaments and in return they do the same. I beleive we can pull in strong numbers for our tournaments with this concept. Alot of these big tourneys that are being run now need a good number of people to come in just to break even. I beleive we can pull in strong numbers for our tournaments with this concept.
We can send flyers for handouts, posters, avatars, sigs, and of course word of mouth. Just an idea…thoughts?
Sorry for the outburst, I havent had time to dwell or go into details…
This is a great idea. I have actually talked with other directors on this exact issue with the same idea. I think that if done correctly this can benefit almost everybody.
