Southwest 3rd Strike thread: part 2

Watching hands is lame. All your attention should be on the screen. Japanese will own you if you rely on this too. They will be playing on a linked cabinet… too far away for you to see what they are doing.

It’s really an unreliable and ultimately bad way to play because if I see you doing it or you have a reputation for it cough Valle cough, I WILL use it against you.

Hand watching really is the lamest thing I’ve heard in a while.

You know whats lame. Playing 3s and not attending SG Regionals!

Ken’s got longer arms and legs than Chun. Before she gets meter, you can get away with max distance low roundhouse. It’s good to hit her when she’s trying to build meter with back fierce.

Whenever you can, go for cross ups. Chun Li has a hard time stopping those.

If she’s doing far roundhouses, you can low forward xx super when she lands for free. Ken’s low forward has more range, so you can do it pretty safely.

If all else fails, turtle and whiff low forward xx super so Chun can’t get close. Mopreme once told me that once Ken decides to turtle, Chun Li loses. Whatever that means.

hmmm… at top levels people can react to a whiffed low forward and low forward it right back, right?

I’ve seen it before in my arcade. Mostly notably at the start of a ken vs ken match one of the ken’s will stick out a low forward to try to catch the other ken out of a dash, but the other ken will wait and hit him with his own low forward. But I’ve also seen it in the middle of a match so yeah.

You know what’s even more lame?

NOT HAVING A GD CAR or anyone to drive me to regionals even!

**that yun tactic is what makes KO(best 3s player in WORLD) the best. he turtles till he gets meter then he rushes. nobody in their right mind will attempt to parry when yun has activated genei-jin so you should be pretty safe. if they attempt to parry and fail, they eat 50-60% damage.

That why it helps to watch footage and watch for the setups into genei-jin. cuz my boy cam uses that super. But I know if you run you’ll most likely end up in a corner and that is something you don’t want. So just if and only if you know your gonna parry it then just throw keep him off you. Red parry that shit.

When I look at it I do think Chun-li should be number one. Mainly cuz you can’t trade hits with her come on she can knock you out a dragon punch. When I think about right know nobody beats Chun-li. Well maybe Hugo could if you could get in.

Chun-li shouldn’t be number 1 because…
She has trouble against the twins, mainly because they can use their dive kicks to get in on her past her back+fierce defense. Chun-li is shit without meter. Lets say you whiff a gigantic move, like a fierce shoryuken with Ryu. If she has no meter, what’s she going to do to you? Fierce? Back+Fierce into fireball? Forgive me if i’m not terrified. You screw up in front of ken, and you’re going to eat a strong, fierce chain followed by an uppercut. It does a ton of damage, and it gives him meter! I hate Ken. Chun-li is scary with meter, but she is a very simple character. Ken on the other hand has a multitude of options to do at any time, and is way more scarier :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah I guess but she builds that bar up fast and like you said when she has it I think she’s way scarier than Ken. I guess cuz we have a lot of shoto players here. So Ken really doesn’t scare me to much anymore he’s still scary but I don’t worry about him like I used to.

Ken has a much better footsies game than Chun IMO. He’s also got that damn cross-up that Chun Li can’t do much about.

As mentioned earlier, Yun/Yang can also exploit Chun Li’s weak air defense.

While it’s true that Hugo can do a lot of damage when he gets close, Hugo will NEVER get in close to Chun Li. Chun Li owns him hard on the ground and in the air. There is no way for him to win this match unless Chun Li gets a brain fart.

In the end, you could always do what I did and pick up Chun Li yourself. :stuck_out_tongue:

FAG!

Chun > Hugo
Necro > Ken
Majang > 3S

hmmm…
turtler’s yun>>>>>>>aznhitler’s yun
aznhitlers’s yun>>>>>>houston
therefore…
turtler’s yun>>>>>>houston

logic=pwnage

Mah Jong most definately > 3rd Strike.
Turtler < everything else.

Carnevil’s Ken > turtler’s Ken

Thus, the universe will implode. Thank you, have a nice day.

Hmmm…There’s something about EX moves that has me thinking. When I watch Cmutt play, I notice he will do Yang’s EX up kick as wake up sometimes.

The thing is, do EX moves have more priority than normal moves? Personally, I think that since they usually come out faster than their regular counterparts, they have the illusion of more priority. What’s your opinion?

And just a reminder, Yang’s up kicks (whatever it’s called) is not a good wake-up move.

Define priority for me anyways. I’ve always found that an amusing term.

I think it’s just a combination of speed, hit boxes, and in some combinations, invulnerability frames.

So by that definition, yes, EX moves have more priority simply by the fact that they are faster than normal moves.

However, you may have a different definition.

I don’t know cuz every time I see people just use an ex they normaly stop it with just a random swing at the right time. Shit at the right times you can stop that shit with just an upper I think.

Someone give that nigga Cylus a ride!
