Poison Mist is a pretty nasty zoning tool. The A version doesn’t last as long as C so they’ll do C to stop offensive pressure and A up-close for speed. If you’re at a distance, always assume it’s the C version. If I’m right, that’s where you can get an opening. C has a slow start up so you can bait them to do it and super jump over them. When you’re right on top of them or crossing them up, there’s little they can do because C poison mist (even on hit) doesn’t combo.
You could roll, but if you get in close, they’re going to throw the A version. The C version, you might catch them slipping. In the corner, it might not work because you won’t get behind his fatass so you’ll get hit by the lingering poison mist. Jumping over it with a cross up seems like your best bet for getting in. You can get in close, roll backwards as he attempts to do the mist, and jump over it for an overhead. If you don’t do it meaty though, be prepared to throw break/throw period. If not that, keep him on pressure and tick throw. You’re really good with footsies so you should apply a more aggro version of that with throw mixups. Raiden is holding one or two buttons. If they’re holding two, they’re likely turtling. If they’re holding one, they’re a bit more aggro. It’s unlikely they’ll commit to breaking throws as much as someone not counting down. Either way it goes, give it a shot!
What you wrote was really accurate to what I was doing but I was also staggering the timing for the spit and mixing 5As to throw off the timing and preempt jump ins. I’m usually good with breaking throws in any FG I play but tick throw and hop pressure is really strong in this game, if haunts just said fuck it and kept rushing me down I’d probably crack eventually.
Thanks, haunts! You guys have improved so quickly, it’s unreal! I was talking with Fixel between matches. I was frustrated when I lost, but amazed at how you guys played. Whether it’s simple footsies or mind games, it is something to be proud of to win consistently so good job!
Awww man just reading this gets us excited to come pay a visit one day, sounds like you guys are getting better exponentially. I think right about this point is a good time to start watching hella a-cho / KCE vids as they taught us insurmountably. We literally have dropped the arcade version since Evo so this should be interesting if/when we do come back up.
ggs to people at Southtown today, and especially to the people who played Vampire Savior! That game needs more love. I was the Jedah/Lilith player and also played some Yun in AE.
Yea We are lvling up. I think with the stream/shit talking/ socal lighting norcal up made us all want to get better.
As for watching A-Cho videos, already been watching and reading all that I can. I hope you guys can make it back up here to NorCal before it hits console. But over all I can tell people have been grinding (when there is more than 5 people at the cab waiting to play, you know they be hungry!)
PS! If you put your quarter down and are not there to take your spot, I Will take your spot for you kthankxbai!
When we first started, before Little Tokyo got XIII (must have been like 4months after AI got it), 11+ ppl lines were very common. Mr KOF would just destroy us all with 20-30+ win streaks minimum, each time lol (this is when we should have implemented the 10 win limit you guys have). It wasn’t fun since most us traveled 60+mins during traffic time one way (one of the guys, metaphysics traveled 55miles one way each time–gas a lone was a killer) so we didn’t really get to learn till like 4 months out.
If the lines gets too long, what we would do is still have a quarter up per game per person, but we would share characters so that we could play more frequently instead of waiting 30+min per game (which didn’t last very long if you’re play Mr.KOF).
Hey Art/Simon! SoCal Regionals are coming up in November, but definitely come visit us before then but we’ll be pretty rusty by then since we haven’t touched v1.1 since Evo.
First visit to Southtown was bomb. Thanks to the staff for the Savior set-up. Seeing an actual Savior cab was so inspiring that my brother even tried to get back into his Rikuo groove and leveled up a little too quickly. His fish man is fucking annoying. I also wrote a yelp review to help keep the faith alive. I was the guy with a Capcom sweater on who picked all the cheap characters in Vampire Savior and couldn’t dash on one side with Qbee. Funshit, moar Vampire Savior pls.
Awesome! I remember watching your brother and the fishman. Three stun moves, one of them even does damage over time? That guy is really evil! Anyway, hope you stop by more often!
I didn’t play a lot that day, but I was really happy to see everyone happy and playing. Or atleast they looked happy. Either way it goes, I think GG is insane still. All those technical stuff seem really important, but massive in quantity. People talking about 2F overheads make me cringe!
You might want to stick to a 1k till you get ND down. It’s really chaotic. DemoNinja and MrTails would probably tell you to play Guncannon and throw rocks all day ><
