Unfortunately, I don’t have my 360 with me. Fortunately, I have a dual modded stick and I’m down for driving to play people. Any meetups in Brookings? I’m gonna go and guess you’re at SDSU, right?
There used to be a Wednesday meet-up, but I stopped doing it. I have thought about picking them back up again, maybe a twice-a-month thing instead of an every week, and maybe on a weekend instead of mid-week. Otherwise, some of us play SSFIV:AE 2012 randomly throughout the week, so not much in the way of a plan you can count on at the moment. I’ll ask around if people are interested again and see what’s up. It’d maybe be 3 or 4 regulars, with 1 or 2 odd-balls showing up is all, but it’s the best I can offer. If you get anything going in Madison, let us know - a few of us are more than happy to drive out for stuff.
I’m at SDSU, yeah. There isn’t really a community here. I’m pretty much the only person that plays seriously or at all for that matter.
I hosted a tournament last year and the only turn out we really got were people we already knew and a few smash players.
I got my local gaming club to give me a date for a tournament in March, but nothing’s really set right now. It’ll be free entry with most likely nothing or something very small (i.e. not worth driving out for). Apparently, the last time someone ran a tournament for a fighting game, people dropped out when someone half decent showed up. As a result, I’m not even going to be playing in it, just going to get people started in the game and coaching. So far I’ve had two people come up to me and ask if I can teach them the game, which is a good sign.
I’m really hoping I can build this up. My school’s gaming night is almost completely tabletop gaming with a little bit of LoL being played here or there. Running Street Fighter on the side durign game nights is a possibility, but I don’t know how well I’ll be able to get people interested in it. The club adviser gave me the go ahead to bring a setup from my dorm, but it’s just a matter of getting people on the setup and drawing attention to it.
Hell, if there’s going to be casuals, I might try and bring the two people who’ve shown interest in learning so far just so that they can watch people play and ask questions and stuff. Of course, if that’d be alright with whoever’s hosting. I don’t want to just randomly invite people.
Z, if you decide to put something together, I’ll definitely come if I’m able to.
Yeah, that was us ruining the last Madison tournament thing. >.>
I have most of our regulars over for a birthday party tonight, so I’ll ask them if they want to get back into weekly casuals or so and see what we can get started - I’ve been looking for an excuse to play again lately, so you might have just given it to me. At the very least, I’ll pick a day just to have a casual meet-up at least once so you can get a fix. Wouldn’t want to leave a fellow fighting game fan out of in the cold in South Dakota.
Just for the record, I’ve been playing SF, bit of KoF, and VF5:FS. Those are my goto’s if I’m playing anything, but I’m open to picking up something else. I suck at Marvel, I’m pretty meh at any Aksys game, but I can play them… and I’m decent-ish at Soul Calibur.
Usually I host at my apartment and appreciate you not wanting to intrude, but if we do get a bunch of new people, I could ask Max over at the LAN center here in town to see if we can rent a setup for the night and host there (he has some PC/360/PS3 setups we can piggyback on for $20 for any number of players for like, 5 hours…which I’m more than willing to front for).
Hell yeah. Let me know!
We used to play on Wednesday, which works for a few people, and I’d be happy to do a Friday/Saturday/Sunday once in a while if the weekend dates work better.
I’m thinking of trying January 30th at 6:00 until 11:00 at my place again, see if that works and build from there.
I pretty much play anything that’s 2D. Not that I’m good at most of them, but I just like to play.
Lately I’ve mostly been playing Persona 4 Arena, Street Fighter x Tekken, and Marvel off and on. I need to get back into KOF.
I also have BlazBlue, SFIV, TTT2, and most of the fighting games on Xbox Live Arcade.
I can totally make that. I don’t have classes on Thursday until 2:30, so I don’t have to worry about waking up for 9AM classes.
Alright, I’ll shoot for that then. I’ll get you the rest of the details soonish.
Alright, it’s done. Details are exactly the same as above, January 30th@my place in Sioux Falls, 6:00 to 11:00 PM. You got an email, phone number, or something so I can get you my number in a less obviously public way, Cataract?
PM sent!
I am living in Brookings this semester, is this slowing dieing? Sick of playing training mode and offline. The beautiful school internet sucks.
You should talk to blaze_zero, he’s there in Brookings and plays. We have a few guys up in Sioux Falls that play if you’re willing to drive, which is what the meet-up above is all about. Get in touch with him for sure.
Ya plan to get a hold to Blaze. Driving to Sioux Falls for the night and back would not be a problem, also saw you guys held get togethers on wed.
Hey Cataract what school are you going to tried finding your post on that couldn’t find it, also might be blind if you did post. I am in Brookings, willing to travel to things. Not the greatest SSF4 fan, but love the game.
He said Madison, so Dakota State University I’m assuming.
@worm, so what you do you play if you’re not much of a fan of SF? Just out of curiosity. I’m always looking for more VF players.
If you want to come up on Wednesdays, PM me an email or phone number. It’s at my home, so I don’t throw the address out here.
My main game is SSF4, and 3rd Strike. not the greatest at them, I do play VF 5 . I play on PS3.
Most of the guys up here play on 360, but I do have two PS3’s and a two 360’s… so either works for me (and joysticks for both). I have a MadCatz TE with octo-gate for 360 if you can use that in the short term (since you mentioned you have a 360 stick).
Ya if that would not be a problem to you. Got a hold of my family and they said they found my stick and putting it in the mail tom, and should get here around tues (hopefully).
