Do people play KOF is SD? Preferably near Box Elder/Rapid City? There’s a slim chance I may move there and I would really hate to not be able to play that… Or at least teach people who want to play that.
You’d be on the other side of the state from us, and none of us play it well - but quite a few of us would be into learning it more. There is a guy over there - if you search for Rapid City specifically, you might find the thread he posted a while ago.

No fight night this week. I have some prior plans, but if anyone wants to run something - post it up! Sorry for the late notice.
I live in SF and play fighting games off and on, pretty much netplay only. I play a little bit of almost everything (haven’t tried MK9 or Injustice though), not great at any particular game though. Best game is probably AE2012 where I’m about a ~1500 pp player on a good day. Don’t really mind getting bodied 20 matches in a row by a great player though as long as I understand the game and why I’m losing. Might come out to one of your meetups sometime, sounds like a good time. For now though, if anyone wants some low lag online matches I’m always down for those! I have most of the FGs on PS3, AE2012 on Steam, and GGPO. Easiest way to contact me would be through Steam, otherwise just post here I guess.

I’m considering moving them over to Galaxy again, so we have a public space rather than my own place. It’ll be either my board name of something with a sloth in it. Oh, you used to have some at Galaxy? I’ve only been there once, but it seems like a cool place. Did you get any sort of special rate/setup from the owner or just buy game time normally? When I went I was just playing PC games with a couple co-workers so I never looked into their console setups. Must be decent enough to allow you to bring your own controllers and stuff I assume. Would be really awesome if you could get something regular going there, might be able to find some other new blood and get some kind of scene going.
I might be able to make it out tomorrow if you don’t mind a new guy that doesn’t know anyone, if you could PM me the address just in case that’d be cool. I’ll probably end up spending the night hanging out with family members that are in town this weekend though. I’ve been playing fighting games a little with a co-worker of mine lately, kind of introducing him to the competitive side of 2D fighters and trying to get him out of the “mash dp and ultra” mindset that playing arcade mode teaches you. Still in the early stages of that. I don’t know if he’d be interested in going but I figured I’d ask and see if you’re cool with it anyways. Might be easier if I save that for a Galaxy meetup if it ever happens, so there would be other stuff to do if he wasn’t having fun.
I haven’t played a 2D fighting game on pad in ages and I only have a PS3 compatible arcade stick, do you have anything I could use if I showed up? Also, what games have you guys been playing recently? If I can make it to one of these I’d like to at least brush up on basic combos/character knowledge for whatever you’re playing before I show up so I’m not just mashing haha.
Yep, we used to play there. It was $20 a TV from 7 until… whenever we stopped. That way we could have “infinite” players on it. The rate was maybe a bit high, but I was willing to foot the bill and try to recoup on donations for the 2-6 TVs we’d have to rent back in the heyday. We haven’t had turnouts like that in a while - it was like, 20 to 30 people around the time SFIV vanilla came out.
It’s no problem if you want to swing by - it’s my place, so I can’t really fit a posse, but we should have about 6 or 7 people around. The plan is to play Divekick a bit to have a “dumb fun” night. But typically we play Super Street Fighter IV AE 2012, bit of Injustice, and a few of us play Virtua Fighter 5. Really, we’re willing to play whatever or learn whatever, but only a handful of us are good at anything outside of SF. Some of us play KoF poorly, and most of us can’t play Marvel for crap.
I do have two X-Box 360 TE sticks, one with a square gate and one with an octo should you need to use something, the full Sanwa setup if you’re used to those.
I’ll shoot you my phone number in a PM though, if you want to get hold of me for directions if you decide to show up. That way, I know that people I don’t know aren’t just showing up to my place without a heads up.
Also, no problem bringing a new player if he’s interested, didn’t think I mentioned that well in the previous post. There are a few people that are pretty green overall that could use some brand new player rivals.
Next fight night will be on Friday, September 6th @ 6:00 PM. I haven’t figured out where it’s going to be yet though. Mostly likely, it’ll still be at my place, but there is a chance it might be at a more public location.
