So Hilde’s out next week on the 26th and the Season 2 changes to the game will arrive a day prior with an update.
they added some more new features to the fighting engine, nice!
Gotte love players who teabag after barely beating someone using a character who came out today.
At least assholes aren’t SF exclusive I guess.
Don’t let it get to you.
Usually I don’t but if they do it and then run away without a rematch it really triggers me. I did run into him again and won and then proceeded to teabag and leave though. He had it coming.
Anyway, after three hours of Hilde I have to say I prefer her SCV version. They changed her charge mechanics quite a bit and I’m not 100% sure I like it, particularly as the stronger charge moves from previous games (level 3 B and level 2 A) are now simple command moves (88B-B-A and 6AB respectively). Makes her feel less unique and generally speaking I don’t like when developers go that route.
To make up for that (?) she has, of course, the new Regalia system which powers up certain A or B combos. The quickest and easiest way to activate regalia is to land a charged A or B, which I guess is why the charge moves have been simplified. As far as I can tell, getting access to Regalia as quickly and as often as possible is key but it’s a level of micromanagement I’m not quite used to yet.
One of my go-to scrub killer moves (AB) got significantly nerfed. It’s now mapped to 66AB and doesn’t lead to a combo on counterhit anymore. The opponent now only goes into a crumple state if it’s a Lethal Hit. And for the move to gain Lethal Hit properties you need to use both Regalia A and Regalia B in a combo beforehand and so far I’ve only found one combo that works that way (6A-A-A, 4BK-B). Safe to say it’s a once per round chance to even get there.
Critical Edge lost about 60% of its range which I suppose is a balancing decision since it’s now activated by simply pressing a button.
The other scrub killer move, 88B, got changed to 88BK. It still allows a bunch of follow-ups including charged B so that aspect of her kit hasn’t changed much.
I think that’s the most important stuff I found so far. I’m no SC expert so I have no clue about frame data and the first 2B I ran into I felt like watching some anime because I stopped playing this in January and have no clue what she can do. So yeah, take everything with a grain of salt.
tl;dr: I’m glad Hilde is back, I still like her, I think Regalia has potential, I don’t like the charge reworks.
Question: Do I get anything extra if I buy the first season pass? Because from what I’m seeing , buying the characters separately is the cheaper alternative. Thanks in advance
The description says:

If you only want the characters, then yes buying them individually saves you $5-$6. I would wait until black Friday to see if there’s a sale on the season pass.
Ahh ok ok. Yeah I’ll wait and see for black friday sales. Cosmetics aren’t needed but it’s cool to mess around with. Thanks alot bro
Playing this game online still feels like a complete waste of time. Played about 30 matches today and I’m not even sure if one of them was lag-free. It’s super frustrating because I have zero offline playing partners in the area. I think I’m done with this until they add a wired/wifi filter like DOA6 has. I’m not sure if that is the problem but it would be worth a shot.
It finally happened!!

Exactly what the game needed.
I took it more as “We’re done here. Better luck next installment. See you in 5+ years.” and I still have no idea what made anyone think all-level guard impact and Reversal Edge was a good idea on top of the shit sandwich that is V.
Yeah, I know many wanted a world tour for SC, and it finally happened. This is great.

So Groh and Hilde are friends
The lifebar got some changes
Gotta congratulate Project Soul with the handling of Hilde’s story because the history and mythology behind her kingdom is deeply fascinating and even Hidle’s chronicle is incredibly well written that thoroughly sucked me in. Not only has Hilde got one of the best stories if not the best but the battle director has really knocked it out of the park with her moveset. Gone are the awkward timed charge attacks for the weapons and replaced with a single quick charge of either attack button combined with back, neutral or forward directions. There are two unblockables that are accessible if you charge for an extensive period of time but I imagine most people will not use them as they require you to hold the button down for at least 25 to 30 seconds to activate it. With Hilde aura buffing her weapons I’m treating this as if it’s her new stance for SC6 which makes her combat flow very interesting to play around with. I don’t know if the character is going to click with me but I do know that I’m going to have good fun experimenting with it.
Oh BTW this NPC was in SCIV!!

Groh’s win quote vs Hilde

So I have to agree that Hilde’s Soul Chronicle is a real revelation. I mean, it’s still hamfistedly written and melodramatically performed, has the same lackluster direction, and cut-rate visual novel production values…but you have to give it points for continuity, in that it provides the perfect explanation for something that was previously inexplicable: Zwei is the way he is because he is the product of a family that indulges liberally in incest. Suddenly the moronic way in which he holds that sword seems a little tragic rather than just ridiculous.
Red Bull 5 on 5 event
Not a single 3D fighting game is ‘lag free’, but in the case of SC - at the very least the base gameplay isn’t dependent on lightning fast response time.
Been alright on my end.
If you want to go into semantics no game has ever been lag-free but I seriously hope you still got my point.
And it’s less about response time but more about inputs getting lost in between lag spikes, which affects Hilde even more than other characters because you can’t “double-release” a button in case it doesn’t come out at first.
On my end it’s been really awful online. I don’t know why because every other fighting game I’ve played so far runs from okay-ish (SFV) to fantastic (SCV).
An interview with the team on the making of SCVI. For some reason the translator mentions SCII everywhere

Haohmaru’s trailer dropped.
