Tried her a bit. Her new gimmick is that she needs to charge her shield with lightning, which is where most of the explosions come from. Doing either 1A+B, 2A+B, or 3A+B does one of three elemental explosions at different ranges. 1 is wind at close range, two is a plain old explosion (so I guess fire) at mid range, and 3 is lightning at long range. Also, she gets extra damage on her Critical Edge (the bits where she throws her shield constantly) when she has lightning.

Aside from that, she’s got a ton of strings that lead to break attacks. A few of these are tied to certain moves where she’ll charge her shield for a bit. These will usually also deplete from her guard meter on block (and maybe on hit). One of these, which isn’t a break attack, is a “shield slash” projectile which also hits on the way back as well.

―It was announced that Season 2 will be held, but how did you decide?

Okubo P : We have been excited by our users so far, and we must be able to produce content that satisfies our needs. In the midst of various requests, there have been many calls for expanding DLC to Season 2.

Okubo P : It took more than 6 years to release “VI” after “SOULCALIBUR V”, and enjoying this title with users for as long as possible is also the goal of Project Seoul. We also wanted to add more characters and character creation parts.

When will Season 2 start?

Okubo P: First, we will deliver Cassandra, the last DLC character of the first season, on August 5th, but we will continue to work hard after that .
Okubo P
: The start of season 2 is the same as the delivery of season pass 2. At that time, in addition to paid DLC, various game functions will be added / improved. It will take some time to start Season 2, but please be patient.

Tell us about the new battle system.

Master Ms. Takahashi: New skills will be added to almost all characters, so I think that everyone who has played so far can enjoy it with a fresh feeling. We also want to add another gauge technique as a new use of Soul Gauge to add further changes and strategies.

Master Ms. Takahashi: Overall, we will ensure that the skills and knowledge of players who have improved during Season 1 are also used in Season 2.
The reversal edge is the core of the “SC6” battle, so it will not be deleted, but I would like to correct the tempo.

―One of the guest characters participating in season 2 has announced the “SAMURAI SPIRITS” Haomaru, how did you decide?

Okubo P : This was discussed for a long time in Project Soul. Geralt and 2B are not characters from fighting games, so this time I wanted to add characters of similar genres.
Haomaru is a representative character of a fighting game with weapons (swords), and I was convinced that the latest “SAMURAI SPIRITS” would be popular among fighting game users. So I consulted with SNK and was willing to accept our offer.

―Actually, it seemed to have a considerable synergistic effect.

Okubo P : Actually, our development members were also in the “SAMURAI SPIRITS” category of EVO. It is a policy to refrain from participating in the company’s content as a project, but I think that the content of other companies is OK.

Master Takahashi : I thought this might be a hint …

―How many contents are included in Season Pass 2?

Okubo P : 4 paid DLCs with 4 characters and 4 creation parts sets. Deliver one character DLC and one creation parts set DLC at the same timing and deliver it in four parts.

By the way, Haomaru will be the second delivery timing. As was the case with the announcement of 2B, the guest characters don’t want to wait so much from the announcement, so we set the timing as soon as possible and to improve the quality.)

―Is the character of the past work that will be delivered first in Season Pass 2?

Okubo P : That’s right. I think it will be a resurrection character .

―You said you added a new stage earlier?

Master Takahashi : I would like to add a stage dedicated to the guest character Haomaru. I also want to add a new stage with the free update, but details on how much can be added are currently under development, so I’ll tell you as soon as I understand.

Some of these stages can be confirmed in the PV we announced, but they are just a modification of the existing stage. I want to add as many as possible, including a completely new concept stage.

―Please tell us about Cassandra’s battle style delivered in the 6th DLC.

Master Takahashi: Standard and easy to use, unlike the older sister Sophia, it is a power-type character specializing in short-distance battles.

Master Takahashi: As a point of differentiation from Sophia, Cassandra uses shields as weapons. You can scold or throw it away, but it’s not the original usage, so there is a demerit in terms of defense.
Another great feature is that lightning and tornadoes can be caused by temporarily releasing the power of God’s armor. This gives you a flashy and powerful way of fighting, so please research a lot. (Abelia 2.0 Kappa)

They will do another interview on August 9th, there will be a talk about season 2 and how to use Cassandra.

Combo above is not a true combo per se, as it could be broken. Her tackle can guarantee her charged A+B which is what you want after the 3rd B or 4B+K connects for the 1+[B] throw.

so there’s some theories as to what’s gonna happen in the future regarding the lore

^ They were clearly setting up hooks for a SCVII to follow up on. They may not have known for sure if it was happening then, but they still had to account the possibility. Soulcalibur VI is the Fire Emblem Awakening of the series, if you will.

I see the Zasalamel ending as setting something up for SoulCalibur VII should the game succeed. What I’m basically saying is that this isn’t a new timeline yet but it definitely is leading to one.

So yeah, SoulCalibur VI takes place in the original timeline, except that the some of the changes we are seeing are setting up for a new timeline. Note that Cassandra’s battle with her future self is labeled as 0-α, 0-β, and 0-γ which are chapters I would say that never happened in the original timeline hence the different labels. This would lead us to a divergent timeline in SoulCalibur VII.

TLDR: SoulCalibur VI was not a reboot, but it is now. Possibly.

Few interesting infos and what to take away from stream:

  • 2 or more news moves for each characters (except Inferno)

  • Season 2 will be trying to broaden options, but not totally change direction or anything that drastic.

  • Listening to comments about the RE messing with the pace

  • SC mid combo coming?

  • So for stages it’s seems to be like: variations of existing stages + 2 brand new stages (Hao Maru’s one and another one)

  • Considering improving Online

  • They talked a lot about Evo and their favorite moments, Okubo want and hope to make SC6 at Evo Sunday

So no timeframe for S2? I wonder if the first character will be out on the game’s anniversary.

Additional Function

• We added more characters that a player can use for character name in “Enter Name” during “CREATION” process.
• ※ Characters or symbols that are not compatible may not be displayed correctly.
• Players can now select “Consecutive Bout” in “Battle Format” when creating their own room in “CASUAL MATCH”.
• In “Consecutive Bout”, a number of players allowed in the room is fixed to “2”, and the players are able to fight consecutively after the end of a battle.
• A player can now check the player license of hosts in “CASUAL MATCH” while browsing rooms by pressing triangle button.
• ※ In case of PlayStation 4.
• A player can now select “Display the Opponent’s Creation in Ranked Match” and “Display the Opponent’s Creation in Casual Match” from “Network Setting” in “OPTION”. When a player switch “OFF”

Game System Adjustments

• The game now remembers the position a player last selected when they close window after browsing “Combat Lesson”.
※ When a player goes back to the character selection screen or exits the mode, the position they last selected will be reset.
• We fixed the bug that sometimes the guard stamina is not correctly shown around the health gauge in battles and replays.
• We fixed the bug that the BGM originally playing in “MUSEUM” sometimes still get played same time when a player select and plays a BGM from “BGM” in “MUSEUM”.
• Some of the texts are corrected.
• We also improved the stability of several movement.

Cassandra: “Destined Greatness”
•【Wrong】Guard impact vs. high, middle vertical attacks * except thrusting attacks and kicks

Tira: “Chill-out Reaver”
•【Wrong】Shift to attack throw upon hit/Absorb opponent’s health/Absorbs soul gauge

TRAINING Adjustments

• A player can now maintain Soul Charge state even when they reset the character’s position while being soul charged. A player can reset their character’s position and cancel Soul Charge by pressing “L3+L1+R1”.
※ In case of PlayStation 4.
• When the opponent character crouches in “Action Settings 1” and shift to the action of “Action Setting 2”, the standing action before the action of “Action Setting 2” is now omitted. A player can now
• do a training closer to a real battle.
※ The opponent character now makes a move from the crouching position in the fastest timing, and this prevent the character to do some attack moves in standing position in “Action Setting 2”. (Instead, the character does attack moves in crouching position, or attack moves while standing up)
• When a player set “Play Command Record” in “Action Setting 2”, the opponent character now does the recorded move just before the end of “Action Settings 1” (the timing when a player can enter command in advance)
※ The purpose of this change is to ensure that the recorded move plays correctly after guarding the attack with long immobile period.
• We fixed a problem that, when a player sets “Play Command Record/random” while actions are recorded in 2 slots out of 3 available for “Play Command Record”, the remaining 1 unrecorded slot also get selected in random (the character stops doing any actions).

CHARACTER CREATION Adjustments

• We increased the parts of “Butterfly Antennas” which color can be changed.
• We fixed the color of the wings of “Archangel Armor”.
• We fixed the bug that a part of an item becomes transparent when “Revenant (female)” wears certain torso (upper layer) items.
• We fixed the bug that a part of a character’s leg becomes transparent while wearing “Allegiance Leg Armor”.
• We fixed a problem that “Seong Inner Wrap” and “Wedding Shoes” do not fit properly to the character’s body shape and a part of the body protrudes from the items when worn.
• It is now changed that “Hermit’s Hood” cannot be worn together with “Wretch’s Helmet” or “Nightmare Helm”.
※ As this is only applicable to items that cannot be seen when worn together with other items, this change does not affect to the variations of appearance a player can create.
• It is changed that not only a male character can wear “Dark Knight Fauld” together with “Slit Skirt”, “Arabian Slacks”, “Short Slops”, or “Samurai’s Hakama”, but also a female character can wear
• them together in this update.
• It is changed that not only a male character can wear “Wretch’s Suit” together with “Roman Loincloth” or “Pleated Skirt”, but also a female character can wear them together in this update.
• Other minor bugs are also fixed.

NETWORK Adjustments

There is now a SE when an opponent is found in “RANKED MATCH”.

When a player plays an online battle from “Ranked Match Waiting Room”, the default item that will be shown in the result menu after the battle is now changed to “Return to Previous Mode”. We fixed the bug that the selected stage is revealed immediately when a player first selects and fights a stage other than “RANDOM” in “CASUAL MATCH”, then select “RANDOM” for the next battle afterward. BAN policies for players who violate the EULA (End User License Agreement)

We will enforce bans on players who have been confirmed to have violated the EULA that is agreed upon when they first playing the game. Please note that players who are repeatedly reported to have violated EULA are subject to the ban once we confirm such violation has actually taken place.

Do they ever intend on separating CAS and regular characters in Ranked?

It’s really not that big a deal, tbh.

It is already implemented. In the ‘Network Setting’ option in the game, players can now adjust the ‘Display the Opponent’s Creation’ in ranked and casual matches to .

That’s just a visual setting, I’m talking about eliminating CAS from Ranked entirely

Good, interested in playing a charge character in 3D. That said, I really hope they’re not attempting to make a character that surpass Mina in ability for ring outs. She’s already a pain to deal with.

I’m going to switch to Japanese like I did in SCV. I know it makes no sense for a European knight to speak in that language but at least she doesn’t sound like a child then.
