Slow down on the hype. Not only have they not announced a single guest character, but you are going to need to pay for a chance to play some random, and beyond that will likely have to wait for a year after they release the game, whose release date has not even been cemented, to be able to play them.
i am not sold on his gameplay so far. have to see more.
Never expected this. This is really great news. Spent over 120 hours in Witcher 3 which is one of my fav RPGs ever made and now Geralt gets added to Soul Calibur 6. <3 Day one main for sure among with Mitsurugi! Thanks Namco!
This is the first guest character that IMO totally fits the Soulcalibur franchise.
Not even Ezio fitted in so well.
May even main him.
Compare to all the recent animu character designs, Geralt looks way too bland among them. Should have given him a new costume or change the textures to make him stand out more.
The anime designs are the problem here, not Geralt.
Indeed, he is the perfect litmus test. In other words, if you do not like Gerald in Soul Calibur, then you are a weebo or a feminine weakling.
Is there any indication that Fight Sticks will work? I have a decent Mad Catz USB I’d love to use.
Box art looks really desperate. This is not Soul Calibur vs Witcher. They didn’t do this to the Tekken 7 boxart.
You are right. Why couldn’t they just photoshop Nightmare’s and Mitsurugi’s heads together unaligned, place a hand in front, add a red filter, and call it a day. Talk about desperation!
I agree with you that’s a bland box art, but notice how it focused on Tekken, not guests.
Box art is an important part of the first impression, and Namco doesn’t even feel confident enough to put more emphasis on Soul Calibur characters than guests.
Box art character ratio for guests
II - 1 in 4
IV - 1 in 3 (west), 1 in 2 (Jp)
V - 1 in 3
This is their poster art for Fated Retribution in the arcades (where their focus is) and Noctis is on the header for the amazon page, but don’t let that stop you.
Don’t like it either but if it means it’s going to sell more I’m all for it.
I also just realized that ranking up in SCVI will happen really fast with all the casual mashing Geraldos running around on release.
YES! I spotted Devil in the background! Guest character ratio 1 to 2! Hell yeah!
Not to mention Namco already collaborated with Capcom in Street Fighter x Tekken. The ties between the 2 series was already strong to begin with. Namco added in Akuma so they can procrastinate on their take of Tekken x Street Fighter.
You are comparing a known 2-way deal to random drop-ins like Link, Spawn, the Jedis, and Ezio.
I also don’t like Noctis in Tekken. He should have been in Soul Calibur instead. His powers resembles Necrid’s fighting style somewhat.
That is a common misconception. It is actually a psychic Pokemon called Kazumi that assumes the form of a Japanese woman when it feels threatened to avoid being captured.
I’m kind of interested in SC6. Are they big differences between it and Tekken? I tried Tekken but didn’t stick with it because of the huge movesets and awkward movement.
Hard to say as this installment has some really shitty mechanics sprinkled on top. However, Soul games (not V) previous to this one are defined by 8-way run movement, guard impact galore (off of the guard button), short combos, ring outs, and very unique medium sized movesets for various weapon specialists.
Soul Calibur has movement like DOA.
