The twinsword Soul Edge was just a cocktease (wooden/joke weapon) in SC3 but they finally gave it to Cervantes in SC4. Goddamn that sword is beautiful.
EDIT: The alternate OST on Soul Edge overall was better than the original IMO. Although, I love the original arena stage and Voldo stage music.
It was pretty cool when it came out, but it didn’t age very well. Playing it now it feels really stiff and. . . bad. Like all old 3D fighters, I guess.
Soundtrack is bangin’ though.

Probably because SC5 doesn’t exist, and if it does it’s in veeeeeeeeeeeeeery early concept stages at the very best. Not to mention Namco’s focus is on Tekken right now. In other words there’s nothing to talk regarding it about unless you like randomly speculating.

Either way, Soul Caliber 4 was pretty good besides being very hard to counter things, few characters being a bit too fast or that was probably the lag.
A couple of friends and I turned on SCIV for the first time in a few months a few days ago.
To all the haters, dig out your copy and actually play the game for a few hours instead of basing your opinions on match videos and your own fuzzy memory.

Meh, I gotta disagree. SC4 is seriously lacking compared to SC 1,2,and even 3.
The only thing that really made me play 4 was Hilde, mostly because she was so unique, and my fav SC character since Cassandra and Taki.
Other than her, 4 was a piece of shit.

-bring back soul charge
-bring back while landing
-SERIOUS tracking issues. Some moves seem to have no hitbox at all and others float right through the character.
-Moves with too many properties. One move doesnt need to be i13 frame startup, invincibility on startup, tracks, goes under high, guard crushes, soul gauge damage and +frames on block for mixup. Its very messy and just pokes holes in the system rules.

I’d love to see soul calibur 5. I’m a huge fan of the series and I really love the story line. Been playing since the first game and havent stopped.
I play Taki style only mostly, maybe nightmare or cassandra once in a while. Undefeatable with Taki style =)

Out of SC 1 2 3 and 4 you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks SC 2 is just “mediocre” when SC3 and SC4 are pretty damn poor.
SC1 is the best, but thats not because SC2 was worse. SC1 was flawless.
