By letting Project Soul do stupid shit, that was not our decision. However, it was our decision to roll with it and play through it. But hey, that’s just me, I’ll let the other SC players handle this thread.
Fixed for ya.
Anyway, let the “SC players handle it” in this thread? Handle what? This thread shouldn’t have even been created because the OP was too dumb to use google or common sense. “Is there a game coming out that hasn’t been announced or even hinted at”? brb, gonna make me a thread asking people when SFV is coming out.
I’ll save you the trouble, Tech.
April, 2011. Get Hyped.
So it’s like SF3?
it’s like sf3, the one game that finally rewarded knowing that your opponent was going to do
if its a stupid thread, why are you here and posting on it? muppet
SRK: We da best.
BTW, dumb thread.
Sad thing is, they never did, not even with System 12 SC1, and obviously not with the unpopular DC version. Sure it had its little community in Japan, but… you know. It was never close to Tekken 1-4 popularity, nevermind Tekken 5+ popularity. That’s probably why the series took the terribly shitty turn that it did.
I prefer ‘guard button’ fighters, and the only options are SC, DOA and VF. At this point I’d rather invest my time in DOA thanks to Sega’s ‘fuck everybody’ approach to VF, except arcade owners in the Far East willing to deal with VF5’s cabinet lease bullshit. But ideally, I wish the Soul series went back to being VF-lite with weapons, like SC1.
how is soul edge compared to sc1? i played a bit of soul edge and sc1 in the arcade but that was a lot of years ago when i wasn’t real good at games
yknow, now that the whole siegfried BS is over, they should just start new. whole new roster, new arenas, no guests, and new “story”.
i dont why anybody would mind that. the only character i thought was a cool design was Cervantes and thats cause pirates are awesome! other than that, i cant really say im all that interested in it. or at least i dont care about it as much as i did SC1 and SC2. but if they do enough new and cool then maybe ill come around.
T4 popular? lol
Exactly.
It’s more awesome at least. You can jump like… 3 character lengths straight up into the air. And the music is the best in the series, both ingame and of course the legendary intro.
Couldn’t tell you anything about balance though.
A lot more limited gameplay wise. 8-way run wasn’t really implemented yet, the offensive nature/frame traps/speed of SC1 hadn’t been put in. Some ‘interesting’ stuff like the ability to lose/break your weapon that didn’t really add up to much. Now that I’ve played so much SC1, its seems like a beta game tbh. No parry mindgames, etc.
Doesn’t really give anything of value SC1 does.
Sure it does. Cervantes’s theme and the amazing Playstation intro FMV.
I happen to think SC1’s OST and opening Cinema are better than SE’s.
t4 wasn’t good but i’d still say it was pretty fucking popular
Setsuka has a single move that’s neutral on block, and it’s a linear high of medium speed. Siegfried has more, but most of them are slow as balls and require him to hold and telegraph a move. His main ones are aGA which is a high and WR (B) which puts him at neutral, forces him into Chief Hold stance and doesn’t even work on every character.
Just to make things clear, I have no problem with you hating the game, not in the slightest. My problem is when you go and post blatant misinformation based off of your experiences with online randoms in a game with terrible netcode that makes offense 100x stronger.
On the subject of aesthetics… I know it’s PS1, but SE/B’s art direction is the peak of the Soul series, and it’s pretty much gotten worse after every installment (with some exceptions here and there… Edge Master is still the greatest mimic character design ever). It’s practically an embarrassment to see how some SE character appearances have evolved in the sequels. Soul Edge had a central theme in the characters and environment… afterwards the series started looking like a fighting spinoff of a random Asian PC MMO.
My point was for Namco fighters, Soul was always far behind Tekken in general popularity in Japan, no matter how popular Tekken was (before Tekken 5 arrived and established the series as the dominant arcade fighter in that country). Past Arcadia Top 10 lists would back up my anecdotal claims.
I know how dumb this is but if we’re going into aesthetic charm I think the original twin sword version of Soul Edge was my favorite. I think Cervantes makes a better main villain than Nightmare.
