And you can tell yourself that you speak for SRK as a whole. That’s pretty pretentious too. :looney:
Yep, because people in Asia don’t play a game, it’s automatically unviable for serious play.
This is why no one here plays MVC2, TVC, UMK3, and HDR seriously.
Because is SUPER SERIOUS, SO WE SHOULD BE TOO.
SAME WITH KOREA!
I don’t know whats with all the hate on sc4, but i loved sc4 because it was actually fun, I mean I never really got mad when I played sc4, even when I lost. The game to me was just amazing and unique with all the swords and just frames to make the game a little more technical.Every time I played sc4 with friends I always had a good time with lots of laughs, idk if its just me but when I play sf4 or any other game the room is just quiet or there is a lot of tension going on.
Sounds to me like you’ve never run into a half decent Hilde player. Shit will get you mad at least the first few times you play with her. Lol. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed your time with the game though. It’s an incredibly intuitive game that doesn’t take a long time to figure out how to do things. (Which some people mistake for “lacking depth”)
It’s a shame if SC is dead. Series was like the Alphas, each game had something wrong with it, but you could always see the potential.
That said, there really is a “geek hierarchy” when it comes to fighting games on SRK.
Soul calibur is near Smash-level in that regards, Smashers being the furries of SRK.
Wheres Dead Or Alive and Street Fighter: The Movie: The Fighting Game?
Both ahead of Smash at least.
Sick burn.
I don’t know how people complain about SC being turtley when they have access to high level T6 matches on dat u2b. As far as the 50/50 throw game goes, it rarely amounts to a pure 50/50, as different throws are better for different situations. Example, with only a couple exceptions, most people that have a reverse RO throw do so with B. So if you’re in that situation, you know that the B grab is the greater risk.
I think SC4 needs serious work, and I’m a fan of the series. But a lot of the complaints I’m seeing from non-Calibur players are pretty silly. Sucks that we probably won’t see a SC5, maybe they shouldn’t have wasted their time making a PSP version lol.
I just want a reasonably solid game and and Taki’s SC2 PORC shenanigans back.
What’s the problem with the 50/50 throw game?
ohhh lawd. SC3:AE Li Long scared the fuck out of me when I saw matches of asians playing him back in the day. Shame they didn’t bring him back in 4 and just tweak him some more.
SCIV isn’t AS bad as people make it. It’s just good Hilde players is where the BS really comes in. I give SCIV some respect for making me play Yun Seong. Someone I never cared for until I realized all the gimmicks he was filled with and got buffed with in 4. Though if we’re going storywise and removing characters, I can only really see Nightmare exiting. (or at least this version of Nightmare and just let someone else hold Soul Edge or…something. I dunno.) I personally want Rock to retire for his son to take over.
Though all this talk is making me want to play SCI and SCIV again.
SC4 is better than what people give it credit for, you just won’t hear so on SRK.
Another thing is that this game is fun. I don’t know about you guys, but I like to have fun when I play a video game. And if you were there for Devastation this past weekend, you would have seen us wildin’ out during the SC4 tournament and throughout the event. Good times were had by all.
Hilde is not an issue since she’s banned everywhere. SC1 was great back in the day, but nobody is really playing it today. The only people who mention SC1 are on SRK.
And SC5 isn’t coming out anytime in the foreseeable future, so you might as well get into SC4, learn the game, join the Calibur community, and have some fun until a new game comes out if you have any interest in the game.
Yeah, I know about AE. But if they’d actually taken the time to clean up the code in the Greatest Hits version of SC3 for PS2 so that people could have had legit tournies without having to worry about glitches or having an arcade machine…
SC2 was my first, and it’s a great game, but SC3 is more fun to me, and somehow, it seems like a slightly faster game too, which i like. Haven’t spent much time with SCIV or SC1. I wish SC1 were playable on MAME.
I watched the Devastation stream for SC4, Amy is a crazy batch! overall fun to watch.
Nothing can stand up to the gdlkness that is SC 2. Bring that shizz back for tourneys, son!
you could always emulate the dc version i think since dc emulation is pretty good or you could grab the xbla version (did it come out for psn?)
XBLA version isn’t bad. Haven’t tried SC on a DC emulator recently. But I’m sure it should run fairly well. It’s come a long way since I first tried it.
The SC4 matches at Dev were alot of fun. I was hyped as shit when I was there. I’m glad that I went.
I was having fun with the PAL version of SC3 until my PS2 broke, but if I tried to play the game in a tournament, I’m sure I will hate it. Same with SC2. Plus SC2 was the game that was actually booed at EVO because of Step G.
SC4 wasn’t booed, but people were booing RTD and Ceirnian and whoever else was using Hilde and cheering KDZ for defeating them back to back in the losers bracket. Plus it got people really into the matches by having someone to root for where as the finals for the other games that were played before SC4 had 0 hype to them.
As for SC1, the only thing I love about it is the music. Other than that, I just have no desire to play it. And I don’t see people going crazy over the XBL version of it. And competitively, SC4 is the best in the series, so I just don’t have any desire to go back.
Yeah whoever said people were boo’ing SC4 at evo last year needs to get their shit straight. They were boo’ing hilde because of her retarded ring out and charge combo damage game. KDZ took care of that though.
A lot of people don’t give SC4 credit as Malice has said. It really is a great game and I’d drop any other fighting game for a new soul calibur any day. The mechanics, the characters, and the COMMUNITY is what makes soul calibur above and beyond.
Are you kidding me? SC4’s soul crush “finishing moves” system made it impossible to exhaust the opponent throwing out every safe attack that gave +frames. If you had a flashing bar against a decent Setsuka or Siegfried they would literally force you to block until your meter was crushed. But of course Calibur’s community response was “GI the attack” which basically means you have to play anticipation, which isnt a real tactic IMO.
Thats not the real reason im bitching tho. I dont even like to turtle, but the fact is you cant in Soul Calibur 4, and I dont like to be told how to play.
There is no incentive to play it safe, or to not be overly aggressive, but with all the inconsistencies in the system that makes for the mess that is SC4.
How the fuck you go from this

TO this?
