It cannot be this easy to troll you. Regardless of your present stupidity, there is an incredibly fun correlation between the quality of Soul Calibur and the continued presence of Nightmare as a main villain.
This is also completely different from the unnecessary glitchiness of SC2 and SC3. Although SC3 is amazing at it: never thought I’d see the day where the Soul Calibur had combo breakers. My friend got his juggled guard clashed while juggling Seoung Mina. HILARIOUS!
SC2 was the most mainstream and it built on the SC1 engine with very nice improvements, but step-G and Xianghua kinda took the fire out of the game in the long run. It was also fun competitively and they diversified the cast moresore than from SC1.
Ivy was actually in SC1, so I’m pretty sure your original criteria for the series sucking would include SC1 as well, Perthos. Not only that, but Inferno was the boss in SC1…I don’t think Nightmare was the final arcade mode boss in any Soul Calibur except maaaayyyybe 3, but my memory is pretty fuzzy.
Anyways, I may be an idjit when it comes to fighting games for the most part, but even I can see why Soul Calibur 1 is still the best in the series hands down. It’s freakin’ great, and anyone who hasn’t given it a shot should. The original Dreamcast version if possible, the XBLA/PSN port is technically sound as far as I know (Could be wrong here?) but they stripped out a few of the modes if you’re interested in single player stuff.
I agree with the guy, they should of created more boss characters, and even have them group up. the story mode would of improved immensely and they might of pertained the mechanics according to each boss characters, one specializing more in one aspect of the character than the other
also in a completely superficial sense, seigfried was more interesting as a side story, there was NO main character in soul edge/blade which made it much more interesting, you would respect each character because you couldnt say this character was better than that, each weapon exists in it’s own reality, and SOUL BLADE RESPECTED THAT.
I don’t know what they were trying to do with the story but it went tits up and respect for the characters style vanished because of the seigfried/knightmare whoring when you start up the game
I know she was in SC1. Ivy for me ruined almost all of the flavor of the series with her dumbass weapon. They might as well just put a bullet in her head in SC5 and get it over with.
As far as the story goes, they should’ve just passed the sword around from character to character and given each one some wacky form of soul corruption.
You have the stupidest fucking logic in the entire world. Ivy ruined the “flavor” of the series when it was already based around sorcery and magic from the beginning? lol. Right.
And what a dumb ass argument as far as boss characters are concerned. WHO PLAYS ARCADE MODE? Yikes. I dont even like the Soul series much anymore and I still wouldnt slam it with a baseless argument.
Of those 5 games…none of those are Nightmare. Unless youre basing your argument on the fact that Inferno is Nightmare’s armor and carrying you know…the weapon the game is called, which just happens to be Siegfriend’s fighting style.
I wouldnt begin to argue with someone about something I knew nothing about about. I mean you know nothinnnggggg. Just based on what you typed in your own post. Nothinggggggg.
calm down, so your saying if there was no sagat, boxer, claw then street fighter would still be as good/interesting as it is today?
I think you underestimate the developers choice in characters, soul calibur and onwards feels like it’s missing something, we have all these young ass fighters and no older/wiser tier just a bunch of young people and an old pirate and an angry knight
claiming character design has no bearing on a persons ability to be interested in a character is ignorant. if Ryu looked like blanka but with ryu’s moveset it would completely change how you look at street fighter, if it was ryu jumping off the walls like vega then street fighter wouldnt be street fighter, and if you don’t see this then your in denial
Dude what is your point? Soul Calibur needs more sub bosses?
Again…I can tell who played the games and who didnt because Soul Calibur 's stage 7 has always been the sub boss. And Soul Calibur 3 had unplayable sub bosses in story mode.
Saying Ivy ruined soul calibur when shes one of the most iconic female videogame characters of the last 10 years makes you look COMPLETELY stupid.
I don’t get what he’s saying. SC not having lots of bosses is the least of its problems (like it was even a problem to begin with).
I have no idea what his analogy is about either.
@Pertho - I don’t understand what you mean by Ivy though. I mean, she was low tier in SC1 (not that that really matters) or do you just not like her style or something? She didn’t seem to be an odd thumb out in terms of design back then imo. Not arguing, I just don’t understand what you mean here.
Also I don’t get why Soul Edge gets sooo much love from people besides aesthetic design and nostalgia. The game is just okay…its like a beta version of SC1. I’d still play it over 2,3,4 but I think its…I dunno, overrated.
what is the purpose of this thread?
talking about a game that is not in developement and bitching about the other games, are we seriously becoming into gamefaqs mkII?

btw i like sc4, sue me
No. Namco’s new Seth Killian just made a facebook page.
Only Namco trying to reach out to the community at this point for anything other than Tekken is just like…“well…whatever.”
The Calibur community is full of crybabies anyway. I made a thread about 2 years ago asking was Soul Calibur 4 was a success after burning out after the release of Tekken 6 and SF4 and it caused a shitfest.
