I guess there’s an achievement for pressing start at the title screen?

lulz. lulz, sir.

Then stop learning smash.

SC4 > Smash Bros by an amazing amount

I initially had the same reaction… my characters felt really nerfed when I tried to play them in the same way that I did in SC2. But, now that I’ve spent more time with it, it just seems like there’s honestly more to the system now.

Did soul calibur always have low throws? Maybe just noone ever told me before, but I thought crouching was like permanent throw immunity in previous versions, so I love that change. Lots of Xianghua’s really strong, spamable moves seem to have been fairly heavily nerfed in one way or another, but in exchange she appears to have even more interesting cancels then before. If you hear “Just Kidding!”… you should be running.

i think Taki took the biggest fall, she feels like a completely different character now, but Voldo feels about the same, just a couple of move changes same with X. I will be down to play tonight after work.

I’m really enjoying SC4. Just picked it up yesterday, but I’m playing it on PS3 (Chanchai is my PSN Username).

VF5’s my game by a longshot, but SC4 is a lot of fun to play and I’m doing okay on ranking matches so far.

As for the “it’s sluggish until I get used to my character’s moves in SC4” feel, that’s a lot like how Tekken 6 felt when I played it in Thailand. Both T6 and SC4 seem to be games where you are “guided” to play at attack range with a lot more exchanges up close (almost like VF). You can still move around in Tekken for sure and play spacing, but it always feels like you are really guided to stick it up up-close. In SC4, it feels like you are always guided to be stuck at “attack range,” which can be close or mid-range depending on who the dominating player is. Feels harder to force yourself up-close if you need to or force yourself away if you need to, if the opponent has got you stuck in their ideal attack range.

I’m enjoying this element in SC4 a lot because SC’s always had this variable weapon ranges thing. In SC2, I felt you would freely move yourself to this range, but in SC4, it feels like you have to fight your way out of your bad attack range to get into your good attack range–but if you are winning the exchanges, you’re opponent is stuck in your ideal range. I like this and it makes SC slightly more VF like in ways.

As for Tekken 6, I like it, but I feel like it made Tekken 6 the simplest of all Tekken games because whiff punishing and spacing games are so freaking important in all previous Tekken games. But when I was playing Tekken 6 in Thailand, it felt like you could force 50/50 games all too easily because fights were consistently stuck in close range. It made the game more accessible to the mid-tier players in Thailand (and thus more people are happy playing the game), but it sort of diminished that “the guy with the insane reflexes and fast input dominates Tekken with his natural skills” thing that I always feel with Tekken. The bad part is that because the 50/50 guessing game is so basic, then Tekken 6 feels like an over simplified Tekken wants to play more like VF game. However… Tekken 6 is very fun with a good balance of some skill, competition, and accessibility.

Back to SC4… I’m really digging the game. I hope some of you guys have PS3s or access to them so I can play against you guys. And it’s so nice playing with my Virtua Stick High Grade again!

Rob, or any other Astaroth players,

Any pointers? I have trouble when people get up in my face. Also, what are his better throw set ups?

First off, FUCK DARTH VADER, you cant brake his throat grab.

Now that i have had a really good time to play this game, Anybody that still dosen’t like Taki, CANT ADJUST! She still tracks VERY well. she loses some but still has great mix-ups plus new, all you gotta do is give it time.

BTW: Ross: i believe i was taking EVERYBODY’S lunch money in Soul Calibur who’s name isnt Ray, so this " No Comp except RBX " is Non-sense.

Good games to Frank and Robert. I’m really really liking Sophitia.

Represent.

I picked it up yesterday, I’m liking VF4 a lot better but then again I’ve hardly played any SC games. Maybe one of you guys can teach me how to do something besides Yoda’s air combo tonight.

Also, someone play me on XBL. ADD ME!!!

I had a very, very similar impression. Though, it also seems to make the game harder to learn in some ways. I’ve been trying to use X and Amy primarily, fairly close range characters, and if meet up against a decent Kilik or Siegfried, then I just die without ever getting close enough to land a hit. It’s mostly an issue of just not having a clear enough grasp of the full move list, I think, but without frame data, it’s difficult to quickly obtain that knowledge. I’m also having a lot of trouble with okizeme, so I can’t stay close even if I do get in, but I guess I’ll just have to get used to the system.

Anyway, I’m also greatly looking forward to playing tonight, and hopefully can pick up pointers as well.

A little bit of free advice… if you want to get good, don’t choose any of the star wars characters to main. They’re all really, really good “noob killers” because they have a couple decent spammable attacks, but even at an intermediate level of play, they appear to completely fall apart.

I have no idea wtf I’m doing in this game but it’s hella fun. I’ll try and show up later to show off my loli-sipa’ing-Talim.

Anyone wanna buy my copy?

That was fast.

yo! i picked mine up on tuesday, limited edition one., i put in the code but i have no idea was extra crap since i started earning shit right away. some of the ustom shit oyu can get for create a players are super buff. i dont like how you CANT choose arcade/tower w/o abilities. yoshi is changed, yet again, and i dunno, he has ton of unsafe moves. and his manji carve fist is s.low still ; ; and his 6, 6 B is different again. i miss SC2 6,6 B. and they didnt give him back his 2 ** charge launcher. anyways, i only use yoshi hahahah. but i like the new tekken 6 moves he has like the sword stomp after kamikaze.

fuck the apprentice

PS3: jy0shi
add me

If we’re lucky Josh we’ll get to play against Phat Nutz and that weird white guy that Super Joe hated at Silver Coin that used Voldo. LOL!

I was messing around with Nightmare last night, think I’m about to use him too, but that’s after I feel comfortable with Sophitia.
