Luckily most of the general population of gamers aren’t SRKers and don’t care about a little millisecond lag.
X-box suck… any questions.
PS I am not taking questions about the the rumor of me fathering you… and yes, your momma is a ho.
I think its a great idea, T5 has sold well for the PS2. Now with that in mind the people that got T5 know that Namco makes SC. SC 3 will sell just of that fact alone. And consolidating it onto one console, they can concentrate on that one console and generally spend less money with as much if not more turnover.
OT: OMFG! Jae Hoon, that’s a great avatar…
Who on srk has comp? Even if you have an arcade it’s like a shadow of what real comp is like. I don’t even want to get started in this ‘level’ SRK ppl play at, IMO we made it up ourselves so we can say we are better than we are.
Slaughter, first things first, Namco only cares about US sales second. If it doesn’t sell in Japan(and it’s been proven by all the AMAZING SUCCESSES the multi-platform games have done on the Box), then they are not going to bother with the excess coding they’d have to do to get the game online, then all the testing they’d have to do. And of course, PS2 online over here is damn good since almost everyone has access to a high-speed connection in one form or another, so if they were to bother with multi-platform, they’d have to make an online community for all, or at least, one that is comparable to the others, lest fanboys cry about how their system got screwed. If you really want this game to come out in 2 years, then go right ahead and cry of the injustice that the X-Box isn’t getting another fighter. The US game market and the Japanese game market are two different beasts. A Japanese company is going to look out for their interests first, and if that causes them to use the system with the largest userbase, with the hardware they’re intimately familiar with, so be it.
Wah wah SC’s not going to be on X-Box!!!1!
Get outta here with that shit.
Oh, and the graphics not being up to par with say, DOA3, didn’t stop people getting SC2 in fucking droves.
to all the X-Box FB(including me)!
Do we really need another shitty 3D fighting game? Tao Feng? SC2?
NG FB…may cry since guy have like 3 fighting games!
IMO that makes them worse than capcom, since they are actively making fighting games, it’s not like MvC2 where marvel had a say, they are in control, so you would think that they would take advantage of it and not sabatoge their own games. It’s not like they just favored japan, they decided to put special work into slapping us gamers in the face.
Which is a shame, because it’s probably 500k copies that we’re talking about here, not a few hundred. The worst part is that we are begging them to take our money and they are giving it right back saying nah we’re good.
I think if they would have made an online network with SC2, maybe as suggested by someone keep the conquest mode from the arcade. They could have a pretty good network with sc2/ttt/t4/t5/etc… noone wants to maintain those anymore, EA has a much larger fanbase and they folded it up and went with xbl.
Overall people don’t want to do the online part themselves, and even tho xbl is the best option, companies could start funding a ps2 alternative that would probably be very well recieved in the company.
It doesn’t matter when the game comes out if it’s not going to correct that problem, noone new is going to care, and the same old people are so mezmorized they’d probably wait 10 yrs for sc3 and still buy it cause they think that it makes them more elite gamer.
Well they had enough interest to pay for commercials and tournaments, but forgot to get anyone to care about them. Sure they can care about japan first, but that doesn’t mean making silly decisions about their console releases is justified.
I doubt they even know what their doing, if they were going to stick with ps2, they should have done it with SC2 on, which would have made it worthwhile to create some online code, and to concentrate on PS2 graphics, but to do it now is not convincing. I don’t even really believe it’s to concentrate on graphics more than that sony needs to lock some people into ps2/psp since they are going to need help going against both nintendo and ms on two platforms.
And if you have a GameCube, haw haw.
i dont have a ps2 xbox or gamecube and you dont see me complaining :badboy:
Burn please ;_;
they should have waited till next gen.
I guess most people still dont get it that it all comes down to money when your going muti-platform. its common knowledge that PS2 is where the money is at and releasing a fighting game on another console is just taking a risk of losing money than making money.
If this Soul Calibur 3 is coming out, then im hoping for namco to actually put alot of effort into making this game just like Tekken 5. but mostly, im hoping for Maxi to make a return. we seen Taki and Mitsurugi already, but atleast have Maxi in the game dammit. but damn, that girl with the 2 big weapons on her hand look really hot.
Good shit.
I don’t have a ps2 (I have an Xbox) but I’m still in favor of Namco’s decision. At first I was pissed off about it, but after thinking for a little while, I decided that it was for the best. If Namco can just focus on one piece of hardware, then hopefully it’ll be a higher quality game overall. I can always play it at my friend’s house or just buy a ps2 for myself (there are plenty of other ps2 games that I want to play, too.)
When will people learn the fact that xbox sucks balls?
Have fun waiting for next xbox because it’s coming soon. I guess that tells how sorry for those who bought a xbox. ; ; Suckers! lol
Now this is my view from how the developers might be thinking – they want to get the game out there quickly and easily. They know they will sell a ton and not have to worry about ports etc. And you know what? I bet we will see an Xbox port down the road, they are testing waters and also being lazy (with the lack of online support).
BUT if we must accept the PS2 only version, all is not lost:
IF any of you have played God of War on PS2 then you know hands down that PS2 CAN HANDLE almost exact graphics level of Xbox, developers are just lazy and don’t push for it. So yes, PS2 can make SC3 look amazing + it can also support optical digital out, so DTS isn’t a problem either. It does not need to be on the Xbox. If you’ve played T5, GT4, etc. in progressive scan with widescreen support you’ll see how amazing the PS2 can look in the right developer’s hands.
I’m not sure why multiplatform wasn’t supported, but if they had to pick a system to make the most money, then PS2 is the right choice for them (perhaps not for us!). Also then we don’t have to deal with all this bulls$%^ with finding the right converter + stick to make it work on the Xbox. Don’t get me wrong, I think the box does a lot of things right, but the fact is that the PS2 is an underutilized system. Max it out and you can have amazing looking games.
Now would I like live support? Sure I would. But T5 didn’t have it, why would we expect SC3 to have it? Developers want to fill their pockets first. I am thinking an Xbox live version would only help them out, but they must have their reasons. This all comes down to the fact that developer’s rarely do what the gamers want, because there is so much corporate bullshit and business bullshit that people don’t realize. Yeah we view them as games, but they are a business just like any other.
If developer’s really cared about their fan-base, there would be a lot of things going on that we aren’t seeing. It just doesn’t work that way and honestly, the only way for them to take notice is to not support the game, which won’t happen…so they never really understand the impact of their decisions. It comes down to abusing a good franchise. They know they can sell SC3 cause it is a solid franchise, but they also know they can short change us and we will still buy it = more profit for them and less work for them.
Look at DMC3 on PS2, probably one of the best action games in a while, but it a lazy man’s effort in many ways. No progressive scan, graphics are pure ass and look worse than part 1, costumes don’t change in cut scenes eventhough you are wearing a different one in the game, etc. Little cost cutters that we let slide because we want the game. Ideally, the developers would spend the time make even minute details accurate, but that costs too much money etc. and isn’t worth the effort to them.
ssb
Maybe God of War looks great but you cant say that it can handle the level of graphics on Xbox. If you put the work towards Xbox, Im sure you could make God of War look significantly better on Xbox than PS2.
personally, i don’t get the obsession with graphics…maybe i’m just old, but i’m still satisfied with 8-bit nes graphics…as long as the gameplay is good, i’m set. i rather play ff3 on the snes then 99% of the games out today with far superior graphics…
But why would you buy a new game over FF3 if it had the same gameplay and graphics, the challenge is to advance in both arenas at the same time.
Also remember a lot of people may have liked FF3, but there were a lot more people that didn’t buy FF3.
ff3 wasn’t really my point, my point was game play. i mean, i enjoy games for the game, not the graphics. it comes from being a card game player, graphics are just bells and wistles to me. i do understand where a developer would be more inclined to have amazing graphics, but it should not be the focus of an upgrade, or a reason to release something on a given system. anyways, just my opinion, everyone takes what they like form games. some people like bells and whistles, its all just what you like…i’m not saying graphics aren’t important, just not to me…
