He said he would be angry if 3S got a balance patch? LOL
Because he knows that 3rd Strike patched just wouldn’t be 3rd Strike.
Watching the 6v6 from NEC< man I really hope they have someone in V that basically just has Starkiller’s style. Vader’s would be nice to.
Was there any astaroth at NEC? Hommie ain’t been getting much love.
plus itd be a waste of resources. Is Amy confirmed or not in the game? im still hoping she aint in. the SC world aint big enough for 2 fencers.
especially a student who is better than the master…
She’s probably Viola.

Well, looks like CAS extra styles are confirmed, even though its only one or two.
Also, he pronounced Sophitia as SOFEESHA. Is that how you’re supposed to say that name? I always thought it was SO-FEE-TEE-UH. Hm.
So Xiba is an hybrid of both Kilik and Mina - he does have her 9B+K and something similar to Kilik’s 22_88 A.A.A (plus, the Custom Character using Mina’s 1_3B+K Throw).
Interesting. More free slots avaliable.
Also, lol at Daishi making Dampierre purposely low-tier just because he’s the “joke character” - I mean… we’re in 2012 already, not in the stupid 90’s anymore.
Some interesting tidbits.
Also, Patroklos serves Graf Dumas? The new Nightmare?
Well, Xiba looks neat
Wish they shown off Aeon more.
Well, it looks like clean hits will be random damage bonuses for signatures moves. @5:06

What is a clean hit? 13:25 Why is it random? (A 15:31)

This doesn’t bode well.
Oh no… that kills my hype a bit. Never understood why you would want random elements in competitive games at all. I guess we can hope it isn’t too much of a factor.
It won’t impact the game greatly. Armor breaks in SCIV were pretty random too, and the tiny 10% damage bonus was hardly noticeable (which is the bonus for clean hit). That move in the video already does a ton of damage and was a CH.
Still, we could do without the clean hit mechanic, it seems strictly better to not have it in the game. It’s no big deal, but I’d rather it not be there, of course.
Well that’s a downer but I don’t care i’ve waited to long for a new SC game that’s good again so i’ll live with that minor cringe.
I am having high hopes for the story mode, i just hope it isn’t just like 3 cut-scenes.
wasn’t feeling Patroklos at all at 1st, I still HATE his voice, but his play style owns.
Excuse me, but Tekken itself has clean hits. Basically its a damage bonus for elbow reach hits, where you can react on pure twitch from almost anything not a throw or step attack, but only with moves that would benefit from it.
Even if thats the case, it’s a step up from IV for sure. SCIV didn’t even have cutscenes aside from the ending, hell, the story was told in the loading screens for crying out loud.
Clean hits in Soul Calibur? The way that they’re handling it seems…strange. This isn’t the first game to feature this kind of mechanic, but the way that I remember clean hits being handled was in a way that wasn’t…random. If a certain move hit in a certain way, it would change the properties slightly. More damage, more knockback, untechable knockdown, what have you. I distinctly remember Guilty Gear Accent Core having this mechanic work for Sol Badguy’s sidewinder attack, where if it hit in a certain location, the move caused a wallbounce, which lead to a loop.
Tekken has it as well, just to re-iterate what was said in a previous post. I’m not too familiar with how Tekken’s clean hit mechanic worked, but it again wasn’t random. It was basically a slightly different counter-hit mechanic for very particular moves, if I am not mistaken.
So far, the clean hit mechanic in Soul Cal 5 seems to revolve around…random chance. I mean, we got the clean hit notification even before the move hit. How does that qualify as a clean hit? The move didn’t even hit, nor did it hit in a particularly special way. Now, the game’s still in development, and I doubt this’ll be a complete game breaking change. However, it needs work. If you’re going to add a clean hit mechanic, at least do it right.
