I’m a retard, since I totally forgot about backwards compatibility. Thanks!
That’s because Tekken uses a different system. For SC, I’d rather sacrifice the “flow” for a faster paced game.
I hope to God it’s like they are claiming and closer to SC2. I played SC3 for awhile, but it ended up being so different and bad I couldn’t do it anymore. I touch SC4 maybe 3 times (I can show you on the doll where I touched it).
Bring back Ivy’s stances! There’s a reason everyone loves SC2 Ivy. Her stances were really cool and so much fun to flow between. I don’t if they really needed super moves; I think Unblockables were fine and had that super feel to them. But I will wait until I play it to pass final judgement.
They need to get rid of clone characters though. I mean, not get RID of them, they probably couldn’t now because I’m sure each character has a lot of fans, but at least tone it down or stop doing it. SC (well, every fighting game really) has always suffered from clones. Yes, I know that they are not EXACT clones, but they usually play so similarly that the few moves that do differ don’t matter. Rock/Astaroth, Kilik/Seung Mina, Sophitia/Lizardman/Cassandra… can we get some new, unique characters please? Raphael, Tira, and Talim were all great additions with their own weapon and fighting style. I know that for storyline purposes for SC5 they kinda need some of them but…I mean w/e, Natsu is Taki, why not just use Taki? And if Taki does end up being in the game for some reason, what’s the point of having Natsu? There are some really cool weapons that they haven’t implemented yet (I really REALLY want a character that uses a 3 piece bo staff).
Anyway just my 2 cents.
Age. They can’t keep using some weird deus ex machina shit to explain why the girls aren’t aging.
^ Forgot what that term meant
I’m afraid of the supers in general in this game…from the amount of damage flying around to Super Grabs?..How are those supposed to work…Are they geif grabs(gawd no!) or can you just sidestep/duck them?..Seems like they’re gonna be really awesome…or just straight up suck.
Nothing wrong with big damage.
Yeah all those characters play almost nothing alike now besides sharing a few moves. (That have different uses.)
I prefer the Gamecube version just b/c of Link.
But I’m just saying it would be nice to see SC2 on Live/PSN. Possibly an online multiplayer feature
As long as most characters have decent ways to land that damage…I’m worried about chars like Talim, Mina, Nightmare, and Astroth…basically anybody who aint sword and sheild lol. Nah, but with damage like combos into super going on…Not having a good way to land way could be a big crutch in this game.
Maybe (probably) EX moves will be better to use than Supers for some characters.
I’m fine with say, 50% off hit confirm to super. Interesting to see how a 3D fighter handles 2D fighter style meter options and meter management.
I’m a noob, is that what its like in ST? 0_o
Well, thats what I wanted too
No, that’s more 3rd Strike than ST.
Of what we’ve seen and been told, the gameplay in SCV is probably the most drastic redesign and evolution since Soul Edge to Soul Calibur, which was when 8-way run was first introduced. Quick side-steps; hyper meter and supers; just guard introduction and guard impact redesign; an RO-less stage. This is on top of half the cast being replaced, and the introduction of new characters who look very promising and unique. And in comparison to SCIV, the frame recovery on attack or block stun seems to be much shorter, leading to quicker gameplay.
I see so many people make comments (not just here but on sites like GiantBomb) that this iteration seems nothing more than a rehash of SCIV set 17 years later. Which is a shortsighted and shallow critique imo, because those comments are only made because the game only looks the same graphically. But SCIV was already one of the better looking fighters this generation to begin with. And the screenshots we’ve seen says this game is just as gorgeous.
I’m a huge SC fan though, so I’m crossing my fingers that it succeeds and at least supplants Tekken as the best 3D fighter at major tournaments (and Tekken is more of a 2D fighter anyway, disguised in a 3D axis). Of all 3D fighters, I think Soul Calibur and its 8-way run still has the most fluid controls and best exemplifies the 3D gameplay.
Thank you.
People have no sense on the internet, so they’re going to make shortsighted comments.
Also, livestream tomorrow for SC5.
Whoa that’s a long list
Can’t wait for some Viola footage to surface
I’m sure that list would be alot longer if they didn’t have to cap it. There’s alot of players just in Paris alone for SC.
I’m also can’t wait to see more Viola gameplay. I’m sure we’ll see some soon. Personally I have been looking for someone else to use besides Patroklos/Pyrrha, but her and Hilde have really gained my interest after watching the trailer and the videos from TGS.
What did you expect. This is the same crowd that complains that every 2D fighting with a chain system is just shallow abc mashing despite evidence to the contrary.
As for the game, I’m hoping that characters like Z.W.E.I. and Viola add more long distance, space control centered, zone type gameplay. Having separate attacking object on screen (not just plain projectiles) for your opponent to react to could be the thing that adds that element that Seth mentioned as missing from 3D fighters in his old Domination 101 article.
