Daishi has said SC is influenced by anime and manga, so it’s not unnatural that there are supers and short cinematic scenes
They need to tone down the effects though.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the “WHOOSH” effect they went with. We can see it’s a faster sidestep, no need for special effects.
Ugh…why is there so much whining about the new characters.
Quoted for truth.
The demo at EVO actually looked impressive to me. SC5 could end up being the “sleeper” fighting game when it’s out next year. Everybody’s pumped for AE, UMVC3, TTT2, etc. this game could end up really solid and fun but could potentially go under the radar because of how shitty SC4 was and the general reputation the Soul series has had in recent years.
Actually you will see how other people care when the game comes out lol.
You would be surprised in the attachment of certain character even tho their character has a more or less clone with added gameplay features. The attachment can go beyond just gameplay.
As for me, it is a big deal but I can get over it, but how will most people respond to this?
Interesting what will happen.
Either way I hoping not only for competitive value but more interest in the game itself.
The game can be competitive but if it has no interest then there would be not many that would actually play it.
This is actually true, sadly.
I have a friend that almost didn’t buy MvC3 because Ken (his favorite SF character) wasn’t in and I know a bunch of more people that are like this.
People can decide not to get certain games for the silliest (i.m.o.) of reasons.
jesus christ you guys are deluded, the casual sc players will have an insane CAS to be preoccupied with not to mention revolutionary online modes for fighting games, and as for pro sc players they will have fresh characters and mechanics to discover.
where is there ANY reason not to even think about getting this game??
Very true with CAS. Very optimistic thinking is good.
Just watched that gameplay vid. Zwei is already more interesting than about 50% of the old cast.
Why are Taki and Xianghua too old to make it in but Mitsurugi and a perfectly preserved Ivy are still there? This game unfortunately looks like another joke. It saddens me to think about how good this series used to be. I spent waaaay too much of my time playing the original on PS and the excellent SC on dreamcast. SC2 hit it’s stride and then…idk what happened. But it’s been downhill ever since and it looks like they aren’t turning things around with this one. I’ll hope I’m wrong.
the only thing im disappointed in is the vintage epic feel that soul EDGE/BLADE had, have a feeling we’ll see a return of the khan super session for some reason though
Based on the age of the characters, and a couple of details from the storyline, I can clearly deduce that the game will be shit. Yes.
And the gameplay of SC3, SC4, and what was shown of SC5.
I’m not saying SC5 will suck because of the exclusion of some characters. That’s fairly irrelevent but odd that some are not in, presumably because of age, while others are and looking no worse for the wear.
My point is that you’ve written the game off way too quickly, even though Project Soul acknowledges that SC2 is the fan favorite (here:
http://8wayrun.com/threads/evo-question-requests-on-sc5-new-content-to-be-revealed.7468/page-6#post-262587) and that they’ve taken steps to replicate that feel with things like quicker 8WR and Natsu having PO cancels and stuff like that.
It just feels like you’ve taken a negative stance too soon. >_>
(Disclaimer: Firekid2468 has never played any SC competitively, nor has he played SC2 at all. Firekid2468 is only in this for the CaS. :3)
Well in all fairness I am writing the game off. Sorry to come in too negative but they’ve made so many mistakes with the SC series that even it’s own competitive scene has abandoned it. And this one already looks exactly the same as the past couple failures. I guess I’m hoping for the best, expecting the worst. The showing at Evo2k11 was extremely underwhelming though.
AKA “it’s not SC2”
Taki and Xianghua don’t have a Soul Edge running in their blood. They also didn’t create and use an artificial soul to providing them eternal life. Ivy does, hence, she is perfectly preserved
I feel your pain for Taki, though. But Natsu’s throw with the flashing kicks is winning me over.
Arg, at least wait till you play the damn game. >_>
It came to my attention that

2:29, Natsu breaks a throw and get some damage? I don’t think I like that…
Yea I think that is a problem. Alot of people are gonna think like this guy. I mean Alot too.
So I hope SCV can bring the series back up to par.
