Soul Calibur 5 Official Discussion

I don’t know if you guys have browsed around on news sites to see the reaction from casuals, but it’s not good. I don’t even understand the reaction to be honest. Hopefully they come around and this isn’t the Third Strike of the series.

its japan if you’re over 30 then your old.

well yeah, they’re idiotic like that, but that also doesn’t mean that they have to make the new chars look so damn young either.

Whatever. I’d just like to see them bring back at least one returning female longstay other than Ivy. Then again, if the game turns out to be bad, this will all mean shit. Just gotta wait and see.

I hope one day Soul Calibur will have a more historical character design, like Soul Calibur I. Since II, they’ve become more and more like fucking final fantasy games. I’m sure this isn’t the last fourteen year old female fighter to be announced for the game, and knowing Soul Calibur, all these bitches will be god tier as fuck.

Sure are a lot of teenage girls poppin’ up…

Umm, what does “he free” mean?

you might be trolling idk but the guy is no good pretty much

He free = He’s a free win

You’ve played against him and beat him, I take it? Otherwise who’s trolling, me or you?

I have a feeling we’re probably going to see Rock’s son, Bangoo, as his replacement this time around. Bangoo’s ass was such a big part of Rock’s story in like every game he was in iirc

the fuck???

Ivy.

Now shut up.

Most of the original roster characters would be well into their 40’s not 30’s. Either way, I still do want to see some more mature characters in this game, returning and new.

I’m particularly intrested in this quote and any reference that confirms it, because this potentially means that generic lows (2Ks, usually) are advantage on hit again, which has been the biggest thing missing in sc3 and 4, and the number one thing that will bring me back to the series.

WCMaxi: I remember that name from the SoulCal official site forums or something back when I joined for SC2 (I was 14 lol)

Wow SC2 came out that long ago? Damn.

2 teenage girls have been announced. Is that really alot?

Half of the roster will be returning characters, so I’m sure that will be the case. But the main thing I am looking for is a great game that’s played by alot of people competitively. The age of the characters is the least of my concerns.

I been talking with WCMaxi since he became involved again with the Soul Calibur community with this new game. He’s on 8wayrun.com if you want to see what he has to say for yourself which I would prefer people to do, but in general, I love what he has to say, he likes what he sees from the game, and there’s alot to be optimistic about.

People don’t seem to realize that SC had a bunch of young characters prior to 5 (lol Astaroth). I mean did people really forget about characters like Talim and Amy?
Since the old characters have gotten older, it makes sense to throw in some younger fighters.
I doubt the cast will be filled to the brim with jailbait, so there’s no reason to get agitated.

Quit hating, Natsu is that new ish! Soon as I saw her, I didn’t care for Taki. It’s like when SFA came out and you didn’t know where Guile was. But then you saw Charlie and was like oh shit!

Most of the talk is about meter and new characters, but can anybody who saw the game at EVO speak to how the overall gameplay seems? What I mean is, I always felt like 8-way run became really clunky in SC3 and 4 - in 2, you could just dance around, but starting in 3, there was this weird, sluggish pause right before you start moving in any direction. So it felt like there were fewer moves and less incentive to moving in a different direction. Maybe I’m crazy, but they said they were designing 5 to be faster and more fluid, and I think more like 2 is always good. And Natsu looks like SC2 Taki, so that makes me happy.

The new sidestep makes the game seem much more fluid.
