considering soul calibur at high levels turns into a turtle fest (you might not have known that though) CF is a very very good thing, they just need to balance it just right enough with this new system they have
and I love the equipment distruction, adds a layer of depth to the game
I really hated the equipment destruction system, Iâd rather they did something like Soul Edgeâs weapon Guard system. Critical Finishes were lame, IMO.
I agree. I didnât dislike Soul Blade 4 but I really wasnât feeling the equipment destruction system. Where my character whould get stripped down to his drawls depending on on how much i got hit lol. Other then dat the game was perfect IMO.
Off topic :BTW Posted this on the front article but yall remember this intro. Every since this game I was down with Namco
*Shit was to hype in 1996 and the graphics werenât even that good. However, the intro still looks better then the ones where seeing in now in days, lol intro make you feel young again.

I was originally optimistic when I first heard about this game. Now I am cautiously skeptical after reading some of the new info and seeing the video.
The fact that this game takes place 17 years afterwards means that most of the characters are either going to be too old to be in this game or dead. I usually hate it when companies try to go for the whole âSF3â approach which is have few returning characters but mostly an all new cast. I think itâs more of a risk in the long run. I even hated it when they did it in Tekken 3, so I am not sure if it will work here. Whatâs up Namcoâs obsession with âtime skipsâ regarding Fighter franchises. Do we really want to see the characters we know all old as shit, and reduced to joke characters?
Now donât get me wrong, I might still try it out, but I am not as hyped up about it as before.
And is it me or does Patroklos look more like a villain in that portrait. My impression of him is that he seems more like the âpompous assholeâ character types seen in 300 and Gladiator
I really donât mean to be a buzzkill here, but thatâs not something to be optimistic about. Knowing the pattern of Japanese developers releasing DLC for fighters, theyâll probably release like only a couple of DLC fighters, before they start working on their next project and just abandon the game completely
I canât help but think the same in regards to the details shown so far. All of the male characters are either virtually immortal or they wouldnât be affected much by old age. Female characters pretty much suffer from the age limit ceiling in fighting games whenever thereâs a time jump. Only exceptions that pop in my mind are Nina/Anna, but since were talking about a timeline set somewhere in the 14th-15th century, theyâre going to pull some âmagicâ BS to keep some of the more familiar faces around.
I bet theyâll say Ivy used alchemy to drastically slow the physical affects of her aging or some shit.
This is a very good point. As much as I do want to stab people in the face with a 67 year old Voldo, not at the expense of just removing 75% of the female cast.
The whole âshort swordsâ thing has me worried. So long as Astây still has a big fuâggin ax Iâll be content - make the game tournament viable and Astây not crap tier and Iâll be happy.
Nina/Anna got frozen so they wouldnât age. Jun and Kunimitsu disapeared, and Michelle was replaced with the younger Julia. Iâd like if they pulled off some attractive older female designs because that would be a nice change of pace. Iâm not holding my breath on it though.
That said, Iâm still not sure I wanna see aged Taki (which I realize is kinda hypocritical considering the rest of my post but, stillâŚ)

I just hope they donât make exclusive guest characters for each version - and then not exclusive anymore, for just 5 bucks - just so they can be banned.
Iâm aware of what happened with Tekkenâs female characters after 2, thatâs why I mentioned those two in particular. Iâm saying that the guys at Project Soul could think up something that is the SC equivalent of cryosleep and perserve a few of the female characterâs physical appearance like what happened with the William sisters.
IMO a mature female fighter (conservatively dressed of course), would be welcomed, seeing as that would be a first in FGs. Although I would also like to see them tone down the excessiveness with all the blatant sexual fantasies going on. It seems like everytime SC comes up nowadays, the first thought that enters playersâ minds is âTits or GTFOâ. Stuff like having females (and males for that matter) fight in nothing but underwear lesses the gameâs credibility in the long run. Keep the DOA aesthetics outta my SC plz.
Taki could possibly get a successor from her clan. Or at least quit wearing skin tight body suits.
I donât see them toning down the sex appeal, fanservice has always been a mainstream in SC. I hope guest characters arenât put into some dlc bullshit though.
One of my big hopes for this game as far as single player modes go is they bring back Chronicles of the Sword. I loved that mode is SC3. I want it to come back
Japan is freakishly youth-obsessed, always has been. 25 is grandma-aged to them, 45 definitely isnât gonna cut it. SCVâs already set to be a laughable exercise in misogyny.
