"We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars. Please stay tuned for more information on that."
Hell yeah!
I’m pretty excited for this game. Can’t wait to see more about! And I hope Ivy makes the cut. A 40 years old Ivy could be really cool!
So tits are still huge, still spending resources on making alt characters, and I might not even get Tira. I’ll withhold my hype until I see a reason to. They’ve got a lot of ground to make up from the past few games.
I really hope I get to see my Talim all grown up at 32 years old
thanks for that link to confirmed info. Added to OP.

here ya go.
Soul Gauge didn’t punish you for being overly defensive, it punished you for blocking all day. Using repels would heal your gauge and using impacts would damage theirs. So plenty of defensive options there.
The problem with Soul Gauge was that it favored certain characters over others, as some characters could consistently break the gauge with 3-4 attacks.
I mained Mitsurugi and look forward to seeing old man Samurai again. Hopefully with his stances intact for plenty of tomfoolery. If he isn’t back I hope to see someone with his same style. (Specifically Relic>Mist)
I’m excited!
My mains were Kilik and Seigfreid, but I also dabbled with a lot of the cast.
I find it admirable that this new Soul Cal will be taking place seventeen years later. I like when fighting games take risks by changing the roster.
That said, I will be sad if my favorite characters don’t make it in. I actually anticipate them not being in, too. My favorites are Astaroth and Lizardman, and based on how the stories go, I anticipate them not being in.
Astaroth dies in practically every Soul Cal game. The only one he didn’t die in was Soul Cal 3, where he basically killed off his revival source. Whenever Astaroth died, the cult who made him just remade him. In Soul Cal 3, he killed his makers in a fit of rage when he found out he was a clone of Rock(not making that up). So, if he dies, then he’s most likely not coming back. Another reason I think he won’t be in is because since this game is currently being billed as the “next generation” of Soul Calibur, then it’s a very big chance that Bangoo, the son of Rock will be in this game. Bangoo will more than likely be the big heavy hitter, as well, wielding his father’s axe. Just speculation, though.
As far as Lizardman goes…well, he’s the head honcho of the Lizard…men. I would actually like it if Project Soul developed a plot where Lizardman is one of the major villains that doesn’t go after the titular sword, but instead is trying to lead his race to conquer humans. Doubt that would happen, since I think Namco sees Lizardman as a joke character. Just look at his SC4 ending and his SC1 kata vid.
All speculation, though. Despite these fears of mine, I still love Soul Cal, so I am eager to see the direction that Project Soul goes in.
Anemone, thanks for the youtube link, updated the ‘watch me’ link in my OP with that trailer.
I really hope Talim’s still in the game :’(
lets go Sonic the hedgehog as special guest character
hmm. some of what they said they would do with SC5 makes me question how good it will be.
I’m hoping more for SC2-like. even a bit SC3. not sc4
always liked Hwang and Ivy. Also played Xiaunghua, Mitsu, and Taki. Plus played a bit of a lot of other characters…at least when I used to be big into SC2 at the arcade.
Voldo better be in or screw this game.
im probably the only soul calibur player that wants Ivy out of the game completely her weapon doesn’t make any sense, she’s like the Kuma of the soul series but with longer reach. if she is in it then atleast have the decency to treat her as one of the bosses
there’s going to be a three man tag/team VS mode in this, you heard it here first :wgrin:
I would like Hwang back in the game, or a younger version of Hwang.
And please, no Yung-seong - kthanxdie.
Also, I would not be adverse to a Calibur 2 Seong Mi-na i.e. extremely viable.
Soulcalibur 4 was trash but it was still fun to play casually, so I’m hyped for this.
17 years later means a 31 years old Amy. drools
Soul Gauge, guard Impact and Critical Finishers and all that jazz needs to gtfo in the sequel. That shit was lame and didn’t add much to the game, imo.
I mained Amy and subbed Tira, Yoshimitsu and Seung Mina.
If you were consistently getting CFed, you’re not playing the Game properly.
He’s doing a High?! You Duck that and Punish.
He’s doing a Low?! You Jump that and Punish.
He’s doing a Mid/Low Mixup?! You 3G Repel that shit for Big Damage
He’s doing a Powerful Vertical w/ Frames/SG dmg? Step that Shit and Punish!!
He’s doing an Auto-Gi/Evade move with Madd Priority?! Your 66A/66B/66K will solve that no problem.
He has a good RO character?!?! 8wayrun around that shit!! Use moves to Mobilize!!!
I just taught everyone how to play the game. Enjoy.
WAIT YOU SAID GET RID OF GI?!?!?!??! WTF?!?!?!? YOUR OFFICIALLE ONE DUMB **** AND SHOULD GO PLAY SMASH!!!

Who said I was constantly getting CFed? I just said it was dumb. In fact, it never ever happened.
Also, I didn’t mean Guard Impact, I meant the whole concept behind equipment and equipment destruction. Guard Impact is fine.
Updated Sieg looks boss.
If they do make another one they need to give Ivy’s moves chain loose and swing from 2 back because I was missing them from 3. Also go extreme on the character customization.
Are we going to want to see mid 40’s Taki after like 20+ years of never wearing a bra? I do wonder that they’ll do with a near 50 year old Ivy design though.
I fear a lot of the female cast will get kicked to the curb for younger varients while the male cast will just get more distinguished character models.
