Give this a listen if you’re new to SCV.

Couldn’t find the topic on 8WR about MLG but I wanted to mention they’ll likely use Continuation Rule/Extended Series format for loser’s bracket

Bother MLG suits and Arturo Sanchez (MLG’s FG Rep https://twitter.com/#!/nycfurby) about it if you don’t like it or do like it.

I’ve been playing Ezio for a while, and recently dropped Astaroth to double main him and Algol. Ezio is kind of a monster.
His crossbow gives him good ranged options that deal pretty good shield damage, and his ability to roll after all standing crossbow shots make them safer. However, that’s still situational, and Ezio is best played at close range.

He has a lot, and I mean a LOT of fast attacks, a lot of which have extra effects/damage on counterhits. This makes him great for interrupting moves. On top of that, his BEs are amazing and give him a pretty huge frame advantage on block (except BB ABK, which seems pretty much neutral on block, but since you can delay the ABK, you shouldn’t use it unless it hits.), especially 66BB ABK. This can lead to some really nasty frame traps. For example, after a 66BB ABK, you can:
-Grab (He has some good grabs, but then, most characters do.)
-Hit low (probably with 2k, which is a great low attack)
-Use BB ABK to interrupt whatever they might do or to stop a crouch.
-Use 3B if you’re sure they’ll press a button, as it does stupid amounts of damage on counter-hit.
All of this is safe, even if you guess wrong, and you will have done a decent amount of shield damage.

Another thing I want to mention is 4AB. This move is godlike. I cannot possibly overstate this enough. It’s fairly fast, has a good range, does pretty good shield pressure and is great for making space/getting them off of you. On top of that, you can roll after the crossbow shot to set things up (Instant getup options or whatever they’re called are amazing on Ezio. Rolling puts you in a crouch and going straight from a crouch into 4AB is amazing, although not completely safe. If they’re right on top of you, you can go into 4B or 6B to make it safe, 4B being the safest option.) or just shoot a second low crossbow bolt.

However, he does have one great weakness other than not being named Nightmare: He is VERY vulnerable to sidesteps. I mean, for someone who’s entire concept is that he tracks people down to kill them, he has some pretty abysmal tracking. His only good stepkiller is 22AA (And 66A to a certain extent.), although that move is quite good and has an incredible amount of range.

Basically, when playing Ezio, try to keep pressuring them and keep them in a bad position. When the tides turn, push them away with 4AB or 4B to reset the situation. Abuse the shit out of 4K>4B/4AB/BB/A>Grab/6B/6ABB/Another 4K, as well as 66BB ABK>Followups. You will need to be good at reading your opponent to play this character, both to know when to counterhit and when to expect a sidestep, which if done at the right time can completely ruin your offense.

Good stuff! I need to get on that soon! I realized up close he kicked ass but WOW.

New article in Japanese
Says an update is coming 3/21, with 3 changes:

  1. adding a shop for future dlc to the edit menu in creation mode
  2. adding more levels to ranked (prolly so it goes beyond A1 i would assume)
  3. balance changes for characters

The article also states that there’s going to be a world tournament on 4/10 (tuesday) in Las Vegas at the cosmopolitan hotel. It will have 8 people total, 4 from the us (decided at MLG), 2 from Japan (decided this weekend at the national tournament), and 2 from europe (decided this weekend as well).
1st round of the world tourney is single elim, top 4 is double elim.

I qualified for the Japanese world tourney by winning the 3/3 tourney at ko-hatsu on the ps3, but since the world tournament is on a tuesday (and the week after spring break), I can’t take off work to go anyways. I guess it’s good cause it means that a Japanese player will represent Japan, and not a foreigner living in Japan, haha.

Balance changes? Talk about timing.

So will they use pre or post patch SCV for MLG and the World Tourney?

I would assume both are post patch. World tourney is post patch for sure.

Are character tweaks the only “balance” changes? No mention of fixing OS guard or QS4G?

It also mentions NorCal Regionals. Will people be able to qualify for World Finals there, as well?

MLG won’t be using this latest patch.

Hopefully Dampierre stops being absolute trash?

Maybe I’m overly optimistic…

i hope they consider some revision to the guard crush mechanic, i don’t like it to much -_-

So how about that Soul Calibur Impact?
They had a trailer for the new patch and CaS DLC, stuff like Maid outfits, schoolgirl stuff, Official character costumes, Tekken outfits and some other stuff

Oh damn a Mits in GF?

After watching SC Impact, I just found a reason why Europe might like SC more than the rest of the world. It’s the setting that’s in the late medieval/renaissance age as well as it being a weapon based game that might appeal to Europeans with their long history more. I wonder how that thought slipped my mind for so long.

Ahahahha why can’t I hold all these nerfs?

Translated version.

I am surprised that Pyrrha Omega and Pyrrha only got 1 or 2 changes, respectively.

Am I the only one completely confused by these changes?

Oh well, seems like Cervantes is still Cervantes haha.

Why did Siegfried get nerfed? Seriously?

Their 236B stab being launch punishable is a pretty big nerf to Pyrrha’s gameplay though. That move was unsafe but not to the point of giving other characters free 60-80 damage.

Tira nerfs disappoint me.
