nope
I really don’t like huge cutscenes in my games, I hate the MGS and FF series for this reason, way too much time spent not playing and watching a movie, if I wanted to do that I’d actually watch a movie.
Honestly the reason why I prefer V over the others is because it feels like an actual fighting game rather than an “anyone can win” basher like some of the previous ones. Soul Calibur lacked a lot of integrity because of the bare bones nature of the battle system. It needed to evolve, and now it has.
Lexia can be guard impacted and just guarded, you need to learn her strings. It’s a good idea to practice with her in practice mode to get a feel for her. Natsu’s damage is quite high but her moves are avoidable.
A pat is indeed pretty awesome, but he requires so many just inputs that I consider that a good trade.
Does anybody here play Dampierre seriously or is he just considered a joke/gimmick character? I’ve heard a lot of mixed stuff about him.
V makes sense again. Verticals can once again be stepped, offense is rewarded and defense isn’t so braindead. The meter adds a nice element to the fight and is very flashy and crowd pleasing.
Yeah V is by far the most fun to watch out of all the Soul Caliburs. The characters and moves are flashier than ever.
Ok, I’m an idiot, I’m trying to figure out how to upload some SCV matches to youtube. I have the saved replay on my PS3 menu… then what? Do I need some way to transfer it to my PC, or can the PS3 browser access the PS3 system to do it directly to youtube?
I think you can only do that with third strike. I think you need a capture card to record your matches.
No, you can export to PS3 then upload them.
You need to go to one of your replays that the game automatically saves and select the one that you want to save to My Battles. Once the match is saved to the My Replays section, you select the one that you want to create a video for by pressing the Start Button.
After pressing Start, the game will give you some options for the replay video like turning off the life bars or showing the inputs. After selecting those options and watching that replay in full, the PS3 will then create a .mp4 video file that you can access from the video section in the XMB. Once the video file is created, you can either copy it to a USB drive, or upload it directly to YouTube/Facebook from the PS3 using their video editor and uploader utility.
Awesome, thanks a lot, time to inflict my scrubbiness to all of my facebook friends.
Whoa awesome. Does the xbox have that feature?
So, after playing with this game for awhile I finally decided to challenge Legendary Souls mode again. Phew…managed to beat it in bout 23 mins.
Actually, Legendary Souls mode aint that hard when you compare to the A.I in quick battle that are Rank A.
I swear the A.I in quick battle is ridiculous & I hate Alpha Patrokolos the most, as he could seem to hit you forever without giving you a chance to react.
That said, are there any Singapore players around here? I can hardly find an online match & quick battle is mostly what I play after about 5 to 10 mins of searching.
No, because microsoft sucks. I wish I would of brought a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360 with all the exclusive content sony gets.
stance switching can make opponents afraid to move, or at least i am, considering one of them gi’s and he can get out of the rest fairly quickly.
are we playing the same game here? mashing is rewarded here way moreso than the last incarnation alone, i won’t even go into the ever famous 2, the infamous 3, or the other 2 (did anyone play soul blade anyway?).
the evolution it has is a down grade, less defensive options and more offensive ones. it being bare bones was fine because others had so many bells and whistles. it still have more frills than say virtua fighter.
To be honest it feels more bare bones with characters move sets being cut, so many mimics and so many more useless moves now that slower move went from “this is a tricky move thats slow and powerful” to " this is gonna be beat by everything and theres a good chance its going to be beat by something faster and just as powerful". Before i had the option when being hit to say "hey i can gi or (shit what was the other called where you pressed forward instead of backward and guard and it left you vulnerable if it missed?) now its more "if i dont stop guarding im going to get hit anyway, i have no bar left for another gi, i can try that parrying thing i’ve yet to see actually performed, or i can let them guard burst me and hope for a better next round)
going back series 3 actually taught you how to use everything. I learned how to use gi’s in sc3’s tutorial mode which was awesome to be honest.(3 is hated for a lot of things but easily had some of the most content and introduced 3 characters that are still liked, though only 1 of the 3 made it into the game in full form)
everyone’s moves are avoidable, you can get around lots of things but the risk vs reward is skewed very clearly at this point.
natsu can fuck around vs a lot of the cast, they hit you with one random explosion + throw, thats a good 30-40% of your life bar.
a pat does require justs, but the thing that i have to say that should invite more players is that he technically has only 3 that are commonly used in game play( from my memory of setska and what they kept) and one has ridiculous timing to get used to (1 A:A:A), one (1 B:B) has fairly simple timing and the last (cr. 3+B:B) has an awkward timing but is easier then the first.
can someone explain nightmares CE. i see it do half bar health-ish normally. I saw a guy stop attacking when nightmare did it then it took his whole bar away instead. (he got hit by one punch before hand) and the xiba he was facing actually just used that gi stance thing and didn’t follow up.
JG can be done, people are doing it in streams and online.

Defense is very strong in this game, it’s just not braindead hold block for everything.
when its fully charged it hit for 90% it hits
and i agree offense is too skewed in risk reward
cause just by moving you get counter hits
for maxi to do a 4 hit string and take away 3/7 of you health is asinine
also air control is almost nonexistent
Everything has a risk/reward associated with it.
Doing verticals you risk getting sidestepped and eating a counter hit
doing a sidestep you risk getting hit by a horizontal and eating a counter hit
doing an unsafe move, you risk getting blocked and eating punishment
doing too many blocks you risk getting guard broke.
Now, just how much risk for how much reward is open to debate, and I don’t feel up to the task of debating which is which after only 2 weeks with the game, nor do I think anyone should be.
Its is discussion
moving will get you counter hit
and seeing as from the previous series the average number of moves in a string got increased
the damage becomes a tad bit too much
a maxi doing bbbb can catch accidentally for close to half health
to say that its bad by a masher is true but to say we are perfect is further from the truth
too much reward for a counter hit and it keeps bad players closer in the game
careful and methodical poking seems to be lessened in value
Its nice that he JG the 44A.
However the 44B hold UB**, **or 66AB moves are not times you want to JG. He was barely able to get a BB when he could have just stepped and punished for more damage.
Choose your JGs wisely.
