Yeah, I think by then he was fucking the Ast player, the dude was so mindfucked he barely did anything for the last round and got perfected.
yes we said that, its skewed in an offensive way without much doubt to it. most risks rewards have a much higher payout with the offensive options then the defensive ones. You are even better off using an attack to stop a throw because you receive damage when breaking throws. (also didn’t they require you to press a throw as well before? now i can just press whatever button they use to break the throw.)
those things all do have risks. we aren’t complaining really just discussing. kinda all there is to do in this thread since there isn’t an SC5 forum.
there isn’t much debate in where its turned actually. in the video you posted alone, that patrokolos wasn’t guarding “too much”, literally enough to not get killed by frequent attacks, still guard broken.
Anyone know a good place to find tutorials for characters? 8wayrun barely works for combos, but I’d need something deeper. Kinda like Richard Nguyen’s ZWEI guide.
There is quite a decent community for SC in Singapore with a number of high level players who are well respected by top players around the world. Go to http://facebook.com/soulsingapore to find more.
We’re in fact having a tournament later tonight. You’re welcome to come try your luck. Feel free to PM me any questions.
There can never really be a “tutorial” for Characters.
Negative Frames you either get ready to gaurd, or anticipate and GI/JG/Step/Duck/Jump
Near Neutral Frames, you can Evade, or interrupt with fast moves.
On Hit, you go for Mixups/Setups.
On wakeup, you either hit a downed opponent, or interrupt if they try something.
After that, you just need to find your “flow” with your character. Every move has a use. There is no one way to play this game. Characters, Players all vary. This is what makes Soul Calibur an overall Better Fighting Game.
Yeah good stuff for bracasting it. though I already knew about that loop I’m sure many new nightmares don’t
Sidenote. I’m so tired of raphael being so bad in this damn series. he just got nothing at this point.
SE is all this guy has, and after that it’s just 6B and 2A all day.
Meanwhile, DJ is banned and nightmare and S&S are running rampant. And then there’s Alpha but he requires justs. (and even then I feel those have gotten easier)
I’m not a good player by any means, but when I play Raphael I just pray that they’re not smart enough to sidestep. And when I fight against him, I just absolutely whore sidestepping. I definitely need to work on my Raphael, but he just kind of feels shallow to me. His hat is still my favorite part of this game though.
I’ve been having a lot of trouble mashing out Dampierre’s throws, and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Does it matter which/how many buttons I mash, or do I just need to hit everything I can as fast as I can?
The GS K BE loop isn’t a true combo - after the first repetition it can be teched out of easily. A side roll gets out for free, a back roll gets out after two reps, and if they just block on wakeup the “loop” ends after the first rep. Neat combo video trick, not applicable at all in a real match.
I play Raphael sometimes. I freaking went to the dark side of the force and playing Natsu now.
Now I know how to defend against this girl.
Global collesium is dumb. It doesn’t hold 100 people. Torunament and random mode Aren’t fightable but take up more then half the room.(player match and patch in a tornament mode?)
People don’t play in their own region but flock to big cities but don’t realize its kinda there for having good connections with people not visiting the new york lobby from austrailia then complaining about lag.
I haven’t seen someone my rank (d-3? Or 4) in who knows how long so I fight like the same 4 c’s depending on the day.
I hope they fix some things because I dig a lot of the ideas of the game they all aren’t executed as good as they could be.
Hey all! I have a bunch of vids of my natsu from netplay on my youtube channel! Check it out plz!! There’s a lot of good matches IMO!
I would only agree here for a couple of characters. Most characters only had redundant moves removed, because well, what’s the point of having redundant moves? A few like Mitsurugi feel the effects though. Defense is still strong, just you have to rely more on “active” defense than “passive” defense, because sitting there blocking isn’t going to help most of the time (unless your opponent just gives you an opportunity by throwing an unsafe move at you). The better solution is to appropriately step/duck and JG isn’t impossible by any means; it’s not easy, but still very useful in the right situations.
This seems to just be stating SC3 had a lot of single player content. Yes it did, but it is, in my opinion (and pretty sure I’m not alone in this) the worst fighting mechanics wise.
Don’t get tagged by bombs; yes, the air throw damage should be lowered a little but it is really not hard to avoid bombs. Bomb startup is like over 40 frames or something, it’s nearly a second, the only time you should be getting caught is in tech traps (meaning the opponent made a correct prediction) or while on the ground, which doesn’t convert into damage as it simply knocks you away, pretty much ending their oki.
1 A:A:A is a sequence of 2, 2 frame links. It isn’t as hard as it sounds though, they are spaced exactly the same distance apart and with rhythm you can get them down easily enough, probably the 2nd hardest though. (without binds)
1 B:B is a single 2 frame link, it’s easy enough as the timing is right when it hits, very intuitive.
214 3B:B by FAR the easiest of the ones you mentioned, it’s a 4 frame link, you can basically mash it out, the timing is a little bit before it hits up to when it hits. Very easy.
You missed a few though, all of them are quite important as well:
214 3 a:B Probably the most obvious, JF umbrella. It’s a 1 frame link, but isn’t as hard as that makes it sound. This is also probably the single most important tool in Patsuka’s arsenal, you pretty much have to learn it to be effective. There are a few methods of hitting it consistently, what I do is quickly slide by flicking my wrist, along not only a:B, but over K as well so I have momentum to make sure there is no gap between A and B.
BT B+K:B Really easy, another 4 frame as it hits link. Very useful in certain situations, a break attack that pretty much allows you to do whatever you want and it comes at a time when the opponent intuitively feels they can attack. Some useful gimmicks with this.
a:g:B Without binds, this is probably the hardest of all his JFs. It’s not all that important, but does allow for some very good punishes up close, hitting about 120 meterless. I rebind 3 bottom buttons in order so I can actually get the JF version, the normal version is very unsafe on block and is much harder to follow up in the combo, though it still works. Just frame version is very safe against most characters.
Basically NM’s CE is a long charging animation with autoGI properties. The longer he sits there, the more damage it will do. If he is hitting you for half your life or more (fully charge does something like 90%) you did something horribly stupid. It is extremely easy to sidestep on reaction and full punish as the GI only works if you hit his sword. Pretty effective as a reversal though and still does decent damage for a CE.
Bibulus is streaming casuals vs. NorCal’s Ceirnian, who is on the east coast for Winter Brawl: http://www.twitch.tv/bibulus
Ceirnian’s Viola’s looking pretty good. #totallynotbiased
Really highlights Viola’s weaknesses if anything.
For those who are interested in watching SCV from France, I made a schedule for World Game Cup of when you can watch.
Have people discovered a good anti AI move yet? Unlocking is a bitch so far.
For Legendary mode just NM 88B and maybe occasional CE/other shit.
Low attacks.
Also if you have a turbo controller, you can pick Raphael in Arcade Mode (Easy), set B(Vertical) to whatever your confirm button is (A or X). Enable overnight. Two nights of doing this and you will be a level 99 with everything unlocked. The only downside is people online will give you shit about it, even if you have far fewer online matches than them.
Especially when you crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women.
I did most of the vs AI stuff, now all that I have left is to beat all quick battle rivals. (250 matches)
And lol about what people say about you online… who gives a shit?
You can always do the turbo trick with Raph.
