The properties and speed of moves dont make sense. Nightmare with same stun on moves + higher speed is dumb.

I can’t see a reason for speed increase and no guard i’s its not like they were broken.

Some things feels fishy about it as a whole. I like it but I can’t say I don’t miss a lot about 4.

Feels like some complicated/slower characters got screwed in the end. I catch myself finding an opening going to a combo to be beaten by a series of aa, bb, aa, k, etc.

Yea slow characters got it rough. Especially in this type of game.
They get interruptted and have few options up close well some of them do.

The Guard Impact cost meter so you can’t always use that as a crutch as much.

aa can be ducked and bb sidestepped, in this game you really need to make the right guess and try to avoid more than just block all day. I think everyone, me included is still trying to approach this game as SC4 and it’s such a big departure that I’m having a hard time adapting.

so you constantly duck or guard? I’m very adaptable but the game took a turn from “guard wisely” to press buttons quickly. That gets punished in every game but here.

Half of the times I move as tira I’m stopped, not because I didn’t use a fast enough move, but because some moves flat out beat mine. Even after I’ve guarded a retarded attack of theirs that needs punishing.

Yes aa can be ducked yes bb can be sidestepped, not when im attempting to punish something. I actually block in freqently because guarded gets you in more trouble then out.

I’m gonna chalk it to my sc4 characters feeling a wreck in transition. Ivy the wreck who lost her ability to play at a distance comfortably, her damage and stances, tira the "I lost my good counters but I’ve got a new telegraphable low!, and my ce transitions!"
I can also tell people throw shit out in 5 vs sc4. In sc4 tiras gloomy counter throw grim reaper, rarely if ever worked. If you toss it out on someone in sc5, it will hit because they press buttons before assessing the situation, and it works, well. Its too bad all her other cool counters are gone (the nebula is impractical now, you have to jump to execute it? Wtf? It dfinitely provided great distance and always punished people who just pressed buttons.)

Overall id say they just tried to decrease the punishing aspect. Look at the new styles in particular. Zwei, guard once you’ll be guarding 5 hits if they do it right. orb chick, attacks all day, xiba, the impatient kilik, mr part sophita part fastest normals in game, impatient taki, who was fast already. Ezio, where every move is two parts.

Mind you I’m not salty I beat most of these at least once but as I’m ranking up I’m just noticing people stopped pressing guard and started attacking more and its working…

The overall speed increase is welcomed. Then there’s other complaints people have with the individual speeds and properties of certain moves from certain characters. However I think everyone agrees about guardbreak issues and the fact that guardbar gets raped too quickly. At first I made a joke about, “Well you are guarding against weapons”, but that’s ignorant. Bar flashes red and people go crazy. Coupled with the odd developer decision that you don’t restore guard bar by simply not guarding. You actually have to inflict damage. Pretty stupid.

I mean, it is what it is. You just have to be more aware in that regard, and also of underlying tactics. Like say I have a significant life lead over you and meter. Your bar is flashing red. Wouldn’t it be smarter to just get your guardbroken and start next round fresh? Of fucking course it would.

Well, say I’m a dick and pull an asshole move. I peep that you will sacrifice this round and allow me to break your guard. But instead of plowing into you as planned, I kill you with lows and grabs. Now next round your bar is still critical. I break, get my CH combo, and you have an uphill battle off jump.

This is how our sets go here. Alot of rage inducing stunts. I’ll admit, the shit adds another dynamic to matches. But it may be an aspect that some people would want to do without, or at least worry about less frequently. And just as a whole, these systems may oftentimes inspire a lot of wreckless, panicky play in SCV.

P.S. So just think about where you guys hatred stems. Fast ass characters with wicked rushdown. And getting guardbroken. Leixia should be nightmare inducing then. A quick, decently safe character with a fluid pressure offense that consists of a variety of moves that all have the ability to break guard. Hahaha welcome to hell.

Seems this game is more catered to us. Kinda reminds me of 3rd Strike.

Popular as it was. The casual base mostly hated it.

If you get hit after blocking a move when trying to punish then that just means you just don’t know your frame data and are attacking at disadvantage and not punishing at all.

It’s fine, I don’t know my frame data as well as I should, but after eating the same frame trap 10-20 times I slowly realize to not try to punish. Also most frame traps can be avoiding by a side step so even if you are at disadvantaged you can still escape pressure, unless the opponent thinks you will try to side step and does a step killer, but then you just read he will do that and blow that up with a faster vertical.

I wonder what my Player Level has to be in order to obtain those CAS goodies. Come to think of it, has there been any optimal ways to grind our Levels at a fast rate in order to unlock anything?

I’m mashing Quick Battles until I get everything. Too many characters I want to make, so little items I can use so far.

I’m a scrub, though, even the comp gives me a hard time. It’s true that I’m running ZWEI, and that he isn’t quite the charm, but I sort of know what I’m doing, so it shouldn’t be that hard, but nope, I still get bodied from time to time.

Assuming your stick has turbo.

  1. Remap B to whatever button you use to confirm.
  2. Go to arcade mode, pick Raph, use turbo to spam BBB. Keep the button held down (use a heavy book).
  3. Watch videos for a few hours.
  4. ???
  5. Profit

But seriously I just play QuickBattle and Arcade alot. It gives pretty good points and it’s excellent practice.

That’s because Astaroth is the easiest character to play as and do well with from the get go. Not only that but he is one of the best characters in this game along with the best grabs, longest ranged weapons, most damaging combos, easy ringouts, and Bull rush. What more does a character need? It’s a good thing you chose him for the tournament especially if you are just getting the hang out SC5.

A dude told me to do the same with Pyrrha, and just put a statue on the confirm button. He said that he regrets it now, he has people quit as soon as they join a match with him because he’s lv99 and he hasn’t even played a real online match.

Is me or the game is almost dead online?
