MOST is more than likely an exagerration. At least with the faster characters like Pyrhha they start up moves relatively fast from what I HEAR, but again I am no frame expert. The only problem I have with the SC 5 guide so far is that they don’t tell you what moves are on startup. But it does tell you on hit, block, and impact.
12 frames is actually pretty fast. Most characters’ fastest moves tend to be between 13-15 frames.
wow im just learning stuff left and right lol, yeah hilde’s AA is 12 frames (wait, maybe 13?) but leads to no further damage, its helpful enough as a “get off me” move though, but good natsu’s and leixas eat me alive
edit: i believe “impact” means startup
Just check the part with the numbers in your keyboard. That’s how you have to read the stuff. I don’t like to use it myself either, but when it comes to a fighter that uses all the directions, it’s probably the way to go.
Natsu and Leixia eat everyone alive up close. =(
Yeah, impact means startup.

Why does Guard Impact cost meter? Because it was repurposed. GI in SCV now covers all levels and leads into a free combo. That’s why it costs meter. If you’re expecting it to work like in previous games, then you should be using Just Guard for that which costs no meter. Also successfully using Just Guard restores the Guard Burst meter.

Why are there 3 mimics? Probably because alot of people asked to have a mimic added into SCV.
-
Why are the Koreans, Talim, and Zas are gone? Most likely because they sucked and weren’t that popular compared to the rest of the cast.
-
Why is there meter in the first place? To attract people to the game and freshen up the series. Soul Blade had a meter so it’s not like the concept of meter is not that foreign to the series. Plus the previous games were very boring to watch from a spectator’s standpoint. Even though I enjoyed playing the previous games, they’re a snorefest if you’re watching other people play, so I am glad that they added an element which helps brings excitement, hype and drama to a match.

Why they removed Soul Charge? When Daishi came to Philly and talked to us for hours on end about the game, he mentioned that it was a glitch. I wish I was around for the entire conversation, but the meter mechanics in SCV add alot more to the game than Soul Charge would have.
Also, there’s a tournament today being streamed live from Jaxel’s house where most of the best SC players come to play and have a great time. To me, these events are more like a family reunion than an actual tournament, but I should be there in a few hours to play and commentate, so check it out when it goes live sometime this afternoon and spread the word.
I don’t believe that for a second.
Those of you in the Northern California area who’re interested in the game, we’re hosting a pretty big gathering at game center in san mateo (right next to caltrain!) at 5pm today. New and old players are welcome. We’ll feature some of norcal’s best SC vets like Ceirnian (Evo 2k9 top 8!), Alex J, Brian Hates, KrayzieCD, etc. If you can’t make it, we’ll be streaming @ www.twitch.tv/norcalibur hopefully within an hour or so in.
Holy fuck, I keep getting communication errors every time I make a comeback recently.
I’m starting to think people use lag swapping in this game than it being the online itself because it NEVER happens with Natsu of all people.
I think that’s happened to me too. It seemed odd that our 5 bar connection would suddenly be completely lost once I score a perfect to tie the game back up. It was even worse that it kicked me to the bottom of the lobby queue and left him at the top. Honestly, I think if the connection’s lost it should just kick both players to the bottom and let the next two people in line play.
That’s essentially what I’m doing now, although I’ve kind of put Aeon as a secondary since Algol makes me feel like [details=Spoiler]

And Aeon makes me go:

Oh mine is the complete opposite. When I do win by 3-0 or lose 1-21, nothing happens. When its 2-2 and win or lose, or they drop their CE for the EPIC WIN1!!!11, suddenly they blame me because I keep the queue.
The best part is that my losses are with Pyrrha (can’t do mids and low on reaction, I suck, I know) while I just randomly win with day two Natsu and Leixia from a few breaks.
This doesn’t happen in global matches, but now its giving me network errors when I try to enter random or request.
Thanks for informing us of the event. I’m learning ALOT of things. And lol at Mitsurugi’s “pattycake.”
Yea Aeon doesn’t seem to have enough in him this game. Not enough tricks.
Good old Lizardman should have just been copy and pasted.
Is there any way to get those badass alternate costumes the characters wear in Legendary Souls mode? Seigfried’s crystal armor is especially awesome.
So I just picked the game up today and have decided to take it seriously. I played SC 1 and 2 not so much 3 and 4. Played plenty of 2d fighters, but not many 3d fighters. Tried playing a few ranked games earlier as viola after some time in training and just got stomped into the ground by what seemed like mindless mashing. Any viola players have any advice? What should I be looking to land, and what’s her safest poke/best mixup tool? She does seem to have a fairly steep learning curve; should I learn someone else first? I always like Maxi back when I played SC 2.
I have been putting a good amount of time in on this game mainly working with Seigfried with a Devil Jin style secondary. I do really well when i can keep up pressure but I find myself losing connection alot. It doesnt seem like just me though. Once that issue is sorted out should be great. Any word on a tier list yet?
Don’t think so. They’re probably on disk dlc or somethin’.
Anyone who actually played 4 not really enjoying the speed increase + increased guardbreak rate?
Kinda two things that didn’t belong together.
Also I’m still dissapointed in ivy changes.
I like the speed but the increased guard break is a tad annoying
Not saying I turtle but I do like to wait and see for patterns in my opponents moves theres stuff that’s punishable but the damage doesnt always account for the tear you get to your guard bar in the process
I still think the damage is kind of dumb based on playing four and 3 I think the Damage keeping people in the game is kinda weak especially when I out poke some one to get hit by a ex string and negate most of the effort I put in
While I can see that that it increases the watch ability for some of the spectators I actually liked the longer methodical matches that the previous installments have
