I think I have a good idea. When it first came out the majority of people complained about the character switches and nerfing b4 anyone got used to understanding the game. In the midst of all the complaining people then discovered the VC, which in my eyes wasn’t too bad considering everyone had one just some where better than others. People immediately flocked to the top tier characters, note that mitsu wasn’t used much accept when people used his VC. So every tourney was an ass of X and sister players with a sprinkling of other characters here and there. Everyone complained about the VC and constantly told others who wanted to learn not to play because the game was broken. And the people who where still playing kinda dwindled down because the match ups where kinda stupid in the X/sisters favor. Sets, mitsu, taki and a few others had VC’s and where fun but people just complained and griped about what needed to be changed so much and stopped playing the game. Also alot of the OG’s that played during the SC2 days quit due to the changes in balance and glitches so it just became hard to find good comp in the local area( look at Socal). With no one to play compounded with everyone complaining and not wanting to play because of the glitch, it just went the way of the dinosaur.
Take this advice from me: WAIT FOR THE NEXT SOULCALIBUR. Thats it! if its hard for you to find ppl to play this game just quit. I quit because of the VC too. No wonder why a lot of good players are not playing the game. Dont blame them ` blame the game.
The memory glitch wasn’t even total on the ps2, there was some method I found on gamefaqs that worked to get my data back (something about switching data between memory cards I think). I don’t know why it happened in the first place though.
I think losing all of your memory card data is a coin flip with the glitch.
I’m sure you know this but the glitch happens when you delete non-SC3 data once SC3 data is on the card.
I was curious if it would do the same to the PS3 or if it was merely a memory card problem. I bought the game a while ago and got a PS3 last month. I wanted to start playing it so I could keep myself busy until SC4. Didn’t know if the glitch affected the PS3 at all.
Astaroth/Cassandra are tied for being the best in the game. Astaroth has a really stupid 66 (or foward foward) K hitbox, it’s twice the size of SC2. I honestly would go to the astaroth threads or previous tier threads and you will see about those 2. Sophitia is barely top tier, she’s not as great as everybody makes her out to be. She has to work hard to get damage, she cannot just win with 44B like most people seem to think. She has to take risks with A+B, because if she misses, whatever you do is CH.
Rock has absolutley nothing. You can rush down Rock with absolutely no fear, pretty simple. Berserker in SC2 was tight, had good range and most of Asty’s moves.
SC3 Rock = 3S Sean. No matter how beasty of a Rock you play, you can only do so much until everything that makes your character bad causes you to lose.
Astro is much more safer to use than rock. You don’t really want to rush astro down the same way you’d do rock, unless you’re willing to soak up some heavy blows. Astro has the better reach and the damage to take down rock with ease in most ordeals.
No, that’s just what people in the community decided because
A) Not enough top players (minus us in TX) broke down Sophie/x and realized how to beat them.
B) SC3 died so soon that people on srk, zaibatsu, etc all read the sc.com tier threads and it’s incorrect
Astraroth has easier, more damaging, safer tools than Sophitia/X. X’s 66A+B abuse is raped by asta’s bullrush. Asta also has TOO MANY tools to keep you at frame disadv. In SC2, you can SS. In SC3, if you twitch, 66B is guaranteed. You cannot spam 2A to stop it, you can do nothing but block. Which means, he’s in your face with a mixup. Plus, he has the best throws in the game and is the best at RO. Sophitia/X are top 5, not the best. Cass is safer than X, has the same range but better lows and if you whiff anything, cass is taking off more damage than 99% of the cast.
I guess I just love to use Rock for the challenge. When you’ve got the opponent cornered, Rock has some devastating shit he can use. For some reason, the makers of the game decided to make Astaroth his similar counterpart with some obviously better attacks. Yes, Rock doesnt have as wide a variety of safe attacks as Astaroth, but hes got a few really decent attacks. Head charges, stand-up club spin (Im sorry, i dont know your lingo that consists of the number 6), good grabs, and of course his grab-you-by-the-ankle ground throw. There’s a tourney on YouTube with a pretty good Rock player placing 2nd. I guess what im saying is, he has strengths that can be used well.
Even Sean in 3S… that player Seanawesome won some tourneys, didnt he? Its all about mastering low tiers man
PS: Callmenewb, you totally stole my avatar idea! I had it first bitch
214AAA was decent, if you could get it to hit, otherwise, the lack of 4th hit (like what Berserker had) really makes it a “meh-at-best” move.
His throw damage did too little for his size, and Popeye (the ground throw) is hardly decent.
His old sweep (2K+G/A+K?) was decent in console as the range-speed ratio kicked major ass, and 2K was an awesome low poke. Otherwise, Rock had nothing other than style and 6B+K. Playing him as a main for a good 3 months was a fucking pain.
I’m curious, how did Voldo turn out in SC3 tier-wise in comparison to 2? I’m thinking mid-bottom, but since I hardly play now, I wouldn’t know at this point.
