Soul Calibur 3 Tier List

Mitsu cant hold a candle to the sisters. He’s solid, not top tier.

I Personally will not agree with you on that. Did you ever get the chance of watching the sc3 nationals on chicago? If I remember correctly non of those bitches that you mentioned are top compare to (Omega) Mitsu. :wgrin:

No offense for the sisters, but I really think that Mitsu is just the F*$#^&* man of SC3!

The post you quoted was posted on 1-24-2006 (over a year old).

But, thanks for the link.

That’s still in the game. IIRC the only VC they removed was Setsuka’s throw.

Oh, I guess I got the changes from the different versions mixed up then. Thanks for the FYI.

If that was the only VC removed, then that’s kind of strange that they removed Setsuka’s and not Zasa’s or anyone’s BT throw VC. I guess the testers didn’t feel like testing all the throws in the game, hehe.

VC are one thing but other changes like lows being more unsafe, etc makes the US version completely alien to the other 3. I think there was an ongoing list at soulcalibur.com.

Btw coN listed Ivy as one of the top tiers. What makes Ivy so good in SC3? From what my friend told me she’s in effect a totally different animal in SC3 compared to SC2 and that her long range game is dumbed downed.

Kilik is cool in SC3 his move list is much more practical than SC2.

Any detail on why Siegfried is where he’s at on the list?

From what I remember, it was because she could ring out an opponent from 1/4-2/3 of a stage distance from the edge.

But that can’t be the only reason. From what I read Ivy players moan quite a bit at the changes from SC2. Hated her in that game.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the SoulCalibur.com forums and watching videos and I understand now why SC3 died and a lot more about the game in general (both SC3 and SC3:AE). So again, thanks TerryGarcia for posting the link.

@ Atb_555: Regarding Ivy, you’re right that isn’t the only reason. In actuality you could do some weird thing with 2:8 or 8:2 in the air when getting hit by her ring-out move (6B+K or 3B+K while in her SE stance, aka Ivy Lick) which would force your character to eat the second hit of the move, thus nullifying the enormous knockback it caused. So the quarter-screen RingOut move wasn’t even useful in high-level play because people can tech out of it, so to speak…

But I don’t play SC3 and I don’t play Ivy so I’m probably not the best person to answer your question.

However, after watching some videos of her I’m starting to see why she’s so good. She’s actually much more of a close-range character. Her main strengths seem to be her shoulder check moves (66K and 66[K] to change stances, and K while in A+K SE stance) into her 5-hit whip attack (B:6B:6B:6B:6B during SE) that eats half your life, or her throw moves where she sends you into the air that also rapes half your life with pretty flying colors (Summon Suffering and Calamity Symphony).

Aside from that she plays like most characters. From what I read though most players agree that she is a very very gimmicky mixup character, and therefor not as reliable as her SC2 self. But on the flipside she can still rape half your bar off one mistake from either of her gimmicks, so… I guess you could say she plays like a 3S character with meter.

But again, don’t take my word for it. I’m sure more experienced players could better answer your question.

.

Now I wonder why sc3 died? can you tell me xenozip?

@ Xenozip

Interesting, I have a friend who was nuts about SC2 Ivy and was pretty good had all these decent setups too, can never get close to the guy. Come SC3 his reaction was priceless. Kilik is a solid mid tier character his game is revolved around turtling / mid pokes and his close range game ain’t that bad either 3K FTW.

The thing is Ivy is still a monster. Just a different kind of monster and fighting game enthusiast don’t like change.

That said, Soph and X are too damn good. Mitsu, Taki, Ivy, Asta, and Cass are good too. No one else matters. >_>

Seriously. Cept maybe Cervy and Zas.

Lynette certainly seems viable too, if you count her.

But you’re probably right about Ivy. The downplay/neg-hype on SC3 Ivy was probably just due to change. Even if she’s not as good/consistent as her SC2 self it doesn’t matter because she still manages to hang with the top tier in SC3, apparently. Can’t bitch about her being bad if she’s actually that good.

Too much truth in your post to handle. ^^^^^^

Good stuff.

I apologize but I really have no idea where to place this kind of a question.

In Soul Calibur 3, Nightmare has a move that I just can’t seem to find/figure out. None of the move lists I’ve seen have it, and only tournament level videos show them.

It’s a mid-air grab where nightmare throws the person into the ground.
around the 49/50 second mark.

Again, I apologize, I just don’t know where else to ask/look.

That’s just his A+K move. And it actually is on his command list. It does the grab on either counter hit or against a juggled opponent.

Prolly should be looking at these forums for stuff: http://soulcalibur.com/forums/

People actually play this game competitively? I thought they fucked this game up way to much to be serious.

Yeah, Atb_555. Every Ivy player I know was bashing SC3 around when it first came out.

Too lazy to check but where does Seung Mina rank among the tiers?

lol…low
