Soul Calibur 1 coming to XBLA

Soul Caibur needs to be online…

What’s wrong with SC3, I might pick that game up cheap

DC version and lack of online play makes this worthless, imo.

I also heard there’s no mission/edge master mode…?

??? WTF is wrong with DC version? DC version is better than the arcade version any day of the week. Seriously, play the arcade version (isn’t there an emu that plays arcade SC1?) and then play the DC version. Graphics are way better on the DC game; as much as cranking the resolution up will make it look cheap on the 360, it would make the original arcade look like ass more than it already does.

Agreed, 100%. Lack of online play makes it not worth the points to me.

Correct.

this port looks waayyy better than the dc version. pointless buy tho when sc2 is backwards compatible

I find the colors to be way over saturated and its most noticeable in the darker stages where on the 360 the game looks darker than Dreamcast.

still, for 800pts it’s pretty good though for lazy people who don’t want to dust off their DCs.

oh yeah, the achievements were the easiest that I have ever encountered, go all 200 achievements today. Summon Suffering on a 3rd party controller was a headache though

Meh, it’s only 800 points ($10) and both my DC’s have died on me. It’s getting harder and harder to find a working DC also. I would have liked online as well but still $10 isn’t bad for a copy of the, so far, only good SC game that doesn’t involve tracking down and hooking up a dead hardware system.

I will say, however, that putting out either Power Stone without online would be a mistake. Power Stone 1 & 2 on XBLA with online play would be a blast!

Wasn’t Cervantes not in the arcade version?

I dont remember 100%, but I think Cervantes was a boss, but not playable in arcade.

Cervantes was originally a boss character in Soul Edge, then was made playable in ver D (I believe). However, he was not in Soul Calibur at all in the arcade (as far as I can remember)

I downloaded the trial. I can play as Mitsurugi, thats all I need till the 29th.

No. You just thought he was a boss due to how utterly broken he was on SC1. Infinite Power Drill + Catch/Throw in perpetuity FTW!

I’ll never understand why retards call this the most balanced game in the SC series. Even SC3, with all of its problems, beats this for balance by a country mile.

There are also huge differences between the arcade and DC versions, so it’s not like it really matters.

Who the hell calls it the most balanced? I’ve never heard that, just that it’s the best, which it is by far.

actually, a lot of people call it the most balanced. Here’s a Tier chart. Who knows how accurate it is, but if you trust the numbers, the game is very balanced. Though, to be fair, it’s about seven years old, haha.

Reread the post, I never said he was a boss in SC1.

They should’ve just included this in Soul Calibur IV, especially if it’s not online. The same way Tekken 5 had Tekken 1, 2, and 3 included with it. Why is this not the case with Soul Calibur; it is the same company after all.

SC1 was one of the greatest FGs ever made, no question. So balanced, so incredibly deep. The sequels utterly paled in comparison.

I totally still play this game, frequently, in the event that I run into someone who still plays it too. If any of you cats live in New York City and want to play SC1, drop me a line.

To those that have bought it, are you able to adjust the screen size? Bitch wouldn’t even let me go into the settings menu in the trial version.

I need to know this before I consider plunking ms points on it

No, not really. I tried the option of stretching to fit but nothing. I don’t care though. It was made for 4:3. Not Wide.

I can’t find it on PSN
