Souki: Oni of the Ashes

Yah you’re right. About the only thing counter seems awesome for at this point is predicted IAD’s… oh well.

you can also use his counter to counter tag ins. if you know your opponent is gonna do a normal tag out just start it when their character leaves. and you’ll counter the kick of the incoming character.

LOL yah that’s a given but if you know they’re gonna switch in the first place why not just block it and counter with a full combo. I mean the counter doesn’t leave you with many options unless you wanna waste red life after the Issen.

Vid gone :shake:

I found out a Souki infinite, I’ll post the vid and instructions later today when I get back from work.

It requires Karas assist.

Nice looking forward to that.

I just found out you can’t Mega Crash out of his infinite…not revealing until After Winter Brawl, sorry guys but this might actually give me the edge on some Karas players.

Coolio whens that tourney?

LOL, Keits already posted it …

Here you go

i play batsu and souki and the setup works wit batsu too you gotta do to fireball super timing seems allittle tighter though but i have been able to hit alot in training mode.

pretty much any character that can get a otg hit after the sword can set this inf. up

Sounds tough to pull off but I guess this give Souki a better edge.

I really don’t see this as possible (at least for me) or even practical in a match. Keits specifically said in the video that its about a 1-3 frame link.

this is very practical in a match a 3 frame window is not hard to hit in a fighting game you get use to timing very easily wit karas

Shouldn’t that infinite be possible using Roll’s 1C ~ 6C 4~6AB since that also hits while opponent is on the ground, and technically only requires 2 meters? I’ve used that to DHC into Casshern’s 623 super, which also hits on the ground.

I must go try it…

Edit: Nevermind, I should have listened earlier. It doesn’t work on Roll.

One thing that is notable about the setup though is that it would have to be different when attempting it on Joe and Roll since the issen after the 6C makes them fly over Souki’s head and makes his 236AB whiff (except this one stray hit behind him). It’s not impossible to do on Joe or Roll, just harder.

… I have about a 80% success rate with it. It’s VERY practical. And it’s not that hard to time, Keits is new to it so he doesn’t know how easy it can be if you actually PRACTICE it

What I do for timing is:

  • I listen for Souki’s grunt when he thrusts down the sword.
-Concentrate on the character falling, basically get the timing down for how long to wait after the character touches the floor.
-Final way is to concentrate on the sword and get the timing down for when Souki thrusts the sword down.

The best way for me is to focus on the character and hold down and then just slide my finger to the right(or left, depending on where Souki is facing) at the right time.

the infinite is practical. all games have 1 to 3 frame links in them. Gunflame FRC in guilty gear is 2 frames, I rarely miss that.

The only thing maybe not practical about it, is Souki needs level 3+BBQ and his opponent needs level 1, and its hard to get a good player in that situation, especially when they know you’re going for it.

Not even… the timeframe to react to Souki’s 6C to Issen is pretty dam short. If you do a full combo you’re giving them a lot more time and of course they’re gonna MC out if they have the meter, if you just 6C to Issen they are done for as soon as you do Oni Magic…

Let’s see…

6C, Issen, Oni Magic…what is that…? .4 seconds? If you don’t expect it can you react that fast? Most people can’t…so yah.

But by all means if they don’t have meter combo into it…

Yeah have fun getting punished for throwing out 6Cs all the time… Also you can react that fast if you know what the other person is going for. I’ve been megacrashed out of sweep>super.

"6C, Issen, Oni Magic…what is that…? .4 seconds? If you don’t expect it can you react that fast? Most people can’t…so yah. "

lrn2read…

And who’s saying you’ll be throwing out 6C’s all the time? A good player obviously wouldn’t be spamming it to make it obvious…

Oh so now your game plan extends to making them forget that you can do that combo?

If you’re playing souki karas, expect people to know that you want to go for this combo, and once you’ve got 3 super bars, expect them to A. not be on the ground much B. block C. Be trigger happy with the megacrash if you hit something that can go into it.
