I am most looking forward to Super Smash Brothers getting some serious competition that will put pressure on both game developers to improve their non-traditional fighters.
So far I love the level of customization provided with manipulating which mechanics are used in a match.
What are you looking forward to most in SPAS: BR?
The release date! Just everything really, it’s a casual yet competitive brawler that you’re meant to have fun with iconic characters! Also when was the last time you got to use a fat chick to beat the snot out of other muscular manly characters in a fighter?
**What do you love about the game so far? **
Everything, from the careful attention from who’s developing it, the characters, the mashed stages, the strategies to be developed, it just goes on!
If there’s an offline mode available, I’ll be sure to get that OVERtested at my local game gamer hangouts.

I’ve been playing Super Smash Bros. since the original N64 game was released, and I’ve loved watching the series evolve over time. I played my first main, DK, for a couple years and into Melee until I began to learn how to play Link. Link is often considered as one of the worst characters in terms of tier, but I’ve stuck with him over the years for three reasons: nostalgia of my first melee experience, my infinite love of the Zelda series, and to prove that underused and “weak” characters can be played competitively and on par with almost any other character. SSB led into my love of fighting games as a whole, so it’s what started the legacy for me.
Over the years, I’ve slowly to come to prefer Sony over Nintendo in almost every aspect. From what I’ve seen and heard, All Stars is becoming a unique and interesting game that could be derived from the SSB series, but is something far more intricate with more strategy involved. It also appears that the team is putting a lot of effort into balancing, which means that whoever my favorite character is by the final roster (And I’m hoping it’s a NIS representative, for the record) and by proxy, my main, won’t be put at a disadvantage compared to other characters. The day I get to play this game is going to be like the day I went to the game store as a kid, got SSB, and put it in my N64 for the first time. The roster is already looking amazing, and can only get better from here.
Although a long time Smash fan, I realize the game had serious issues that PSASBR is already addressing, the most obvious being balance (The game’s already way more balanced than SSBB, from what I’ve seen of gameplay videos). The fact most characters couldn’t truly combo in SSBB was a letdown, as well, since I’ve grown accustomed to standard fighting game systems in which combos help determine who the better player truly is. The stages also seem like they offer what SSBB stages offer, and more.
Despite what I’ve said so far, I detest comparing this game to Smash. That would be an insult to what this game is offering the gaming community as a whole. Instead of being “just another Brawl game, but with Sony characters,” this game runs much deeper than that. It’s much closer to a mix of a standard fighting game and a SSBB game, which is where it draws its strengths from. This is an unprecedented type of game, as far as I’m aware, which is why I have faith that it will be so much fun. After all, the uniqueness of the SSB series is a part of its charm, and why gamers keep coming back to it. Why won’t the same happen for this game?
Sadly, I’ll be in college when this game launches, which means I won’t have access to my PS3, but you can bet it’s going to be the first game that I play when I get home for winter break.
I’m really looking forward to see how well the combos pan out in a party-esque game like this. I’m also looking forward to the how the roster looks in the long run and how such a wide variety of unique characters from different games play in a game of the style.
As for what I love so far. The roster looks really cool. I like mash-ups of many different characters from different genres coming together and throwing down.
It looks like they are trying to incorporate traditional fighting game fundamentals and mechanics with this side-scroller beat 'em up style of gameplay. It’s a very interesting mix of gameplay elements; hopefully, it will create depth for strategy and creativity. I can’t wait to explore this title.
I like fighting games and I like Toro.
I’d be very interested in playing the beta version of all stars. I’ve been a big fan of Playstation since the classic PS1 days, and it makes me happy to see that they’re making a game that brings together characters from Sony’s history. Like superbot said, it’s a game to celebrate PlayStation’s history of past, present and future. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the characters go at it with each other and all the surprises that wait within the game.
im really looking forward to the game cause the controls are simple and you can do crazy combos and also has an awesome cast so far
In the words of Andrew Ryan from Bioshock: “A man chooses to play Sony Playstation: Battle All-Stars, an idiot obeys and does not play it.” Or from the famous Kratos: “If all those on SRK would deny me my vengeance & gamecode, then all of SRK will die.”
I just love playstation games. Out of all of the systems and all of the interesting games out there, the playstation ones have always kept me interested. All the iconic members gathering into one game excits me to no end. You have Nathan Drake, Kratos, Jak & Daxtar. and so many other amazing playstation symbols. What I love so far about PlayStation All Star is that you have so many characters in one game, and they aren’t all just humans. You have some that are a bit cartoonish.
What I’m looking forward to is getting to play some of my favorite playstation characters with my friends. I can have Drake against Colonel Radec. I love that I can play with my friends and even my little nephew. It will be an easy game to grasp and yet be complex and enjoyable for the adults. I can’t wait to see all the Mash ups with the stages!! Just amazing. I will defiantly look forward to playing the game when it comes out.
this gaming is shaping up to be something amazing. I’m looking forward to the competitive aspect of the game. the game looks like its gonna be real easy to pick up but hard to master. unlike smash brothers in this game you can’t just kill someone with cheap tatics or with the environment. the only way you can kill is with super meter. you have to manage meter just like in any other fighting game and couple that with not being able to see your score or who is winning. its gonna make for some interesting matches!
What I find really cool is that some of the characters aren’t from games made by Sony, but rather from games that back then were only on playstation, like Heihachi, Dante, Raiden (Assuming the last two are confirmed) and so on.
What’s also cool is that this game is being made to be for tournament level play, unlike in Smash, the dev team claims it was never meant to be played in tournaments.
I remember the first time I played Super smash bros., as a matter of fact it was the first time I had been introduced to a fighting game. Solid mechanics with an all-star cast. It really was a fantastic experience. I played Smash Bros. for many many years, essentially since it was released in 1999. I continued to play with friends and family throughout the game series. Melee came and brought better graphics, physics and an even stronger roster. I continued to hone and strengthen my playstyle through many matches whether they were in my favor or not. I recall skipping school to play the third game in the series Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Finally I got my hands on the newest game in the series yearning to become better and better. I finally decided to take a big step and become competetive. I started small at local tourneys and eventually wanted to go bigger. However at this junction I hit a severe roadblock. The lack of items in tournement play and general imbalance in the game itself. Without items i feel Brawl became very imbalanced and broken. The charcters that rose to the top were charcters who were fast and who had good comback after being knocked off the stage. Very few have this kind of ability.
To answer the question of what i look forward to most for SPAS:BR.
I look forward to a balanced and tournament quality game. I feel that with combos that work consistantly (since PSAS:BR doesnt have knockback increase) the game will become better for a tournament and high level setting. I also think that not having ringouts is good. I feel like ringouts were kind of a curse for the Smash bros series where charcters with good stage recovery and cheap ledge tactics reign supreme. However this is removed from PSAS:BR creating a more fair and less gimicky experience.
I love that this game is an honest to goodness try at taking this sort of off the rails fighting game style to an actual deep, thoughtful, and strong competetive level. Its really something that hasnt been tried before and superbot is willing to up the ante to create something that is simple yet infinitly deep with metagame and mind game.
I am excited that I will finally be able to level up with a game that supports high level play at its purest and true form.
i like the game because finally i can see some of the most epic matchups, like Cole vs Drake or Kratos vs Heihachi or other epic battles like that depending on what other characters will be introduced, or you can have all four badass characters see whos the best, cant wait until the game is released
The thing i’m looking forward to the most is the game’s online play. I already know I’ll be playing the heck out this PAS:BR when it comes out. But after the disappoint that was Brawl’s online play, I’m curious if Sony can really pull off a 4 player brawler that’s playable online. If its at lest somewhat playable then I can already tell what will be my next big addiction for awhile.
I’m also looking forward to playing this game on the go with my Vita
They had me at Nariko…i loved heavenly sword
I am really looking forward to this game and what it has to offer. I am a big fan of the sony brand and can not wait until I get my hands on a copy
I am really looking forward to the character roster. Also the fact that it seems like a good friend party game as well as being competitive so you can have a good time with friends or break it down into combos and technical mechanics for competition. Hoping the Net code is solid since its not as much going on as in marvel.
i’m really looking to the late night hype of drinking with friends and playing 4 player free for all. I hope spikes are implemented because it’s the ultimate disrespect among friends and what ultimately fuels so much salt and anger. Be EZ!
I love this game and it’s nostalgia factor. My childhood consisted of twisted metal, jak & daxter, and marvel vs capcom 2. So seeing all the different classic Sony characters together in a fighting game is pretty amazing to me. Especially seeing each one in their native graphical design is really cool, especially the stark contrasts between characters like paraper and Kratos. Beta code or not this dedicated sony fan est 1996 will be getting this game
