Sonichurricane.com SF4 Biweekly TACV / now playing: Sagat

hmmm very nice, i figured using the srk would be a way to confirm your ultra’s gonna hit for free.

as for the damage… it shouldn’t scale after just the srk right? i thought scaling came in on the 3rd hit

ultras count as 2 hits always, so they scale like there is one hit before them.
so raw ultra is unscaled, because the first two hits of a combo do full damage. But one hit then an ultra gets scaled, because the second unscaled hit is skipped and the ultra is scaled as if it was the third hit so it does 20% less damage

ah, i didn’t know that. i knew they scaled as 2 hits but i guess i thought that meant that if you were allready in the scaling you would get 2 hits of scaling… now that i think about it it was a pretty dumb assumption since you can’t combo out of any ultra.

Dhalsim.

… i just can’t win for trying this morning lol

i should try to limit posts till /after/ cup of coffee # 2 lol

SF4 Combo System Exploration, Part 2

Blah blah more info.

Ready for round three?

SF4 Combo Challenge 03: Ken

Like before, video responses only please. (I don’t care about capture quality so use any recording equipment you have on hand, especially since we don’t even need to see damage numbers this time.)

can the first hit be counterhit?

I’ve written a program that can dump chars entire movesets from the decompressed input. Each move contains at least 24 blocks of data. A block represents a hit state (standing opponent, crouching opponent, counter hit etc) and contains the properties of a move for a for a particular hit state. The problem is the knockdown and juggle states aren’t trivial to figure out (they seem to be linked to numbered animations, and the animations differ between characters). Finding out which move is which can also be tricky because there aren’t any names associated with them.

I’ll dump Ken’s moveset into a file if I get some free time and post it. Maybe you’ll have better luck piecing things together.

Sure, that’s fine.

Um, crazy. Okay i’ll take a look.

Don’t be silly. Dhalsim doesn’t have these “combos” you speak of.

On the contrary, Dhalsim might end up becoming the official combo character of SF4. Hell, i probably won’t even have time to explore his full potential by Tuesday. But i’ll do what i can.

Refer to this post for info on what the data means:

(I’m not sure that the info about pushback/popup values is correct though)

The move blocks usually start with close lp. Juggle/Reel/Knockdown etc is controlled by the combination of the values in move id and move reaction.

A move like Ken’s EX Shoryu consists of 4 parts that hit, which means that it will be comprised of 4 separate move blocks.

Dhalsim has some pretty cool link potential with his db+strong and db+fierce… I’m really interested to see what Maj came up with

Nice videos

Poongko does that Ken combo (srk cancel to air tatsu then ultra) in a real online match :
