That’s one of the things the whole thing building up to Colors humourous. The whole fact of finally a good 3D Sonic game and it happens to be on Nintendo’s system. The whole thing with Sega expecting Sonic 4 to be super awesome with everyone and instead the game that was ‘made for the younger crowd’ ended up being better. I can just see Sega looking at the whiteboard they have in their meeting room and going over their equations they’ve been trying to come up with to make Sonic successful over the years and just scratching their heads in complete confusion right now.
If there’s anything that I’m demanding the most in whatever next game they try to cook up…they need to keep the MadWorld writers on staff. I AM DEAD SERIOUS ON THIS SEGA…

^ I don’t blame you Specs. Cause like I said before…I’m playing the damn game and my brain feels like it’s not comprehending that this game actually exists. Is this game GOTY material? No…no way no how. I’d be shocked if anyone even thinks of nominating it for best of anything unless they put made a category for ‘biggest improvement’. However the game is just solid and I feel it easily deserves 8.0-8.5 scores based off of what I’ve played so far. I mean most of the people who I’ve seen impressions from who have played the game as well have been pretty much saying the same thing. If you’re completely unsure then if you get a chance to try the game out without dropping the $50 bucks for it then I say jump on it immediately.
I’m really enjoying this game as well. Traded in my outdated fighters (Vanilla SF4 and BBCT) to take off a bit of the price, and used two $20 gift cards I bought for $24 off someone to pay for it. Pretty sweet deal.
Anyways, like I said, the game is fantastic and plays great. Still haven’t quite found my preferred control method, but I think I’m leaning towards my GC controller. Don’t like waggle controls, sticks on Classic Controller are a bit awkward, and while the D-Pad controls on Wiimote are nice for the 2D sections, they don’t translate to 3D well. GC controller seems perfect.
Platinum Games made and wrote Madworld. They are not a apart of Sega.

there was a writer from happy tree friends who helped with the dialogue in mad world.
sega hired him to write the dialogue in colors.

man the music in this totally sounds…like sonic music. much more so than god awful music in sonic 4. like if there was a proper sonic game on the saturn i feel like this would be the kind of music it would have. i heard hints of it in the day stages in unleashed but this games music…its fantastic.
Edit: oh yeah just wanted to point out that yeah, sonichuman, that the irony of this situation is not lost on me at all. I had a feeling this shit might happen from e3, when you saw preview footage, and heard impressions from both colors and sonic 4. sonic 4 looked very EEEEH, and colors looked pretty cool. but sonic colors really seems like a true sequel to the old games, more so than 4.

As of right now the Sonic Cycle has been busted. I’m still really cautious because of the previous comments…I don’t know if Sega has finally grasped it or not yet. For me this has a big ole ‘To Be Continued…’ on it.
Sega will fuck up the next game.
Alas my good man, the curse remains, while this game may indeed be the best 3D sonic game to date, I don’t think future games will be able to good in their own way (mind you I don’t expect them to surpass Colours).
Enjoy Colours for what it is but be ever so cautious and with low expectations for the next 3D Sonic game.
I beat the first world. The game is pretty good so far, but the boss fight sucked horribly.
Fuckin [media=youtube]fGcr-NYAJ5s"[/media] popped up on my playlist while I was in the car and I couldn’t get the guitar section from 1:07-1:27 out of my head while I was working. The Unleashed music team has done some crazy good work here. Still would have Crush 40 do the intro and ending songs rather than Cash Cash but I’m pretty sure I’m being biased on that lol.
I finally got to Asteroid Coaster and the first thing that happens is I end up dying because you don’t simply hit left and right when you’re on the coasters to change lanes…you have to jump and do it. Too bad I had to learn that the hard way lol. That one stage with the Motobugs was fun. I wish you had more control over Frenzy since if you happen to be pointing Sonic in the direction of an edge and you activate it…you have a high chance of killing yourself.
I’m enjoying this game waaaay too much now. =D My coworkers asked me how the game was and I told them and now they want to try it out. One already did and texted me ‘Wow. I think Sega finally gets it.’ Word seems to be starting to spread that there’s an actual solid 3D sonic game out there…I hope Sega makes a good chunk of change off of the effort that was put into this.
What I like about Colors is that there is actually platforming =D
Sweet Mountain pretty much made me say “yeah, this game rocks”.
