Who the fuck thought that shit was a good idea? Even in all of dimps own sonic games he stays as a ball.

Thanks for helping me save $15 guys.
Sometimes there is this weird transition where you are spinning and then you suddenly return to running without warning.
And yes the whole spin dash shenanigans is what made me drop it, honestly. They messed up on that so badly.
This is sad, man. I think people were actually hype for this one, too.
I personally love the game, and thought that with every stage it got better and faster.
After a second playthrough, yeah, this is utter crap compared to so much as the Sonic Advance series.
They went back to their roots yeah, but they are forgetting very fine details such as how fast sonic gains speed. And personally I think they need to drop the homing attack.
Sure in the hell not worth $15 for the 20 mins of time it’ll take to play through the entire game. Most I see myself getting out of this game is trying to compete with the top times and scores on the leaderboard.
Still gotta earn the chaos emeralds, but I seriously don’t think it was worth it. This should seriously cost only $5.
Not worth it. Well, I think I’ll be starting up some Sonic rom hacks.
ALRIIIGHT. I came home and got into the special stage and beat that shit on the first try somehow. Maybe I just needed to get away from the game for awhile? I haven’t beaten the game again yet but I’m about to try that again but I wanted to take Super Sonic for a test run on the first stage and HOLY BEJESUS…lol. I like how they had him transform too…you actually see all the emeralds collect around him and he’s got the slight dbz aura going as he’s dashing around. Of course you don’t even fucking notice any physics problems the game has with him because he’s to busy raping everything. I’m gonna beat the game again and see if there’s any special ending.
Played the demo and I love the graphics and homing attack. The music is pretty good although not even close to S2’s legendary status, and the physics are…so different. Spindash doesn’t start when you release a it starts when you press forward wtf? and he stops on a dime so easily whether on the ground or air as if dimps forgot how sonic’s momentum is supposed to work.
The lack of momentum bothers me a lot, but the graphics, music, level design, and especially homing attack make up for it if the demo is any indication I’ll like S4 more then the rest of you. Anyone notice when he runs by the flowers they spin in his direction and if you run past them the other way they do too that’s a nice touch.
I mentioned the level interaction thing in my ‘review’ earlier
So I just beat it with the emeralds and it wasn’t anything really big so much as they sort of teased a certain rival enemy that I’m assuming is going to show up in Episode 2.
character tease

Metal Sonic [/details]
I thought over the price of the game a bit more today and I’m thinking…maybe there’s something more going on under the hood that won’t be active until Episode 2? Sort of like S3&K? If they released Episode 2 and Tails shows up and by having Episode 1 already on your system they could make it so you could play through the first 4 zones with Tails as well. Wishful thinking though I’m sure Sega probably didn’t think about that…You’re welcome to prove me wrong though Sega.
I hope the Super Emeralds actually come back into play as well…that would be quite sexy. Now If you’ll excuse me…I’m gonna run through the whole game again and just rape everything with SS.
Yes, another person who loves the untamed godliness of Hyper Sonic.
I’m personally hoping for a storyline where Super Sonic can’t seem to make the cut in defeating an enemy.
won’t let me wiggle in the air. this is a first time a 2d platformer won’t let me do that ever. no buy.
After reading this my mind has been made up. £10 for 4 zones, and it sounds like a game that is not that good. I’ll give it a miss. At least until there is some mega discount and from the sounds of it patches to sort out physics. I had hopes for this. Not now. Lets see if Sega can sort this one out.
I’m no game journalist but considering how long this game has been getting previewed and it’s delay, how is it that no one noticed the things that we noticed and raised all hell to Sega reps?
I think I need to take back what I said about the game.
The game is really starting to grow on me. What I originally wrote off as gimmick is actually good gameplay mechanics. As I see it there are 2 ways to approach an Act. Straightfoward or Explore and Show Out. Straightfoward is just trying to get to the end of an Act in one piece. Explore and Show Out is trying to find quicker and cooler looking ways through an Act. As I’m getting farther into the game and replaying stages I’m finding new and quicker ways to get through that are actually fun ways to go about it. Homing Dash is still as retarded as ever but with some slick usage you’ll cut down on time you spend in a particular Act. If Dimps wants to keep the Homing Dash as a mechanic they need to tweak it. But the thing is how do you tweak it without losing the simplicity of it’s use in the game?
And that 7th Emerald is no joke. Took me about 5 tries to snag it but Super Sonic rape is a fair trade.
My brother got me to play this game yesterday, but don’t understand why that they went back to something that is outdated. The control was awkward to me.
Well exploring would be a lot more fun if he had improved startup time from walk to run, and a faster walk speed overall.
I think Dimps should’ve gave him the peel out. I think that would’ve solved a lot of issues. I agree that building up speed is a chore but I think they just wanted you to use the Spin Dash and Homing Attacks to pick up speed and gain and maintain momentum. Not the best way to go about that but you get used to it and it becomes a challenge to find ways to keep your momentum and not get killed trying to do so.
The momentum issues nag on me and I hate how he Homing Attacks when I try to jump off the edge of platforms. I’m still debating getting this.
That’s just it Fayina, they DIDN’T go back to something ‘outdated’. Go play the old games again.
If I want Sega to know how I feel, I just won’t buy the game.
Definitely not feeling the homing attack. Other than that and the slow start-up to running, I like the game. I haven’t played a Sonic game since 3 (or maybe Knuckles, I don’t remember).
