one thing at a time Tizoc…first they gotta see if we ‘approve’ of this first.
I don’t know whether I want to play this game on my 360 or my Wii…thinking about it now though I think I’m probably going to buy it for my wii since I don’t want to use the 360 dpad or the analog stick. Analog stick for 2D sonic is weird to me.
lol, it’s just that unless it’s sold at a very cheap price, I’m waiting for the all Eps. to eb released and sold in a bundle.
…and I don’t think our ‘approval’ will matter, mate…unless they decide to add a patch that eventually gets rid of the ‘Episode 1’ from its title.
I’ve watched pretty much all of the toons…but I’ve only watched Sonic Underground in bits in pieces because I didn’t know it existed until I happened to catch it early in the morning while waiting for time to pass by to catch the bus. About 15 seconds into I basically went ‘WTF?’. It just seemed entirely to weird for me lol. watches intro again and ends up laughing and facepalming
I liked the other 3 toons way better and they all had pros and cons but I still find that I think SatAM is my favorite with Sonic X and AoStH sharing second and being close. I automatically knew what Chris was there for so even if he was generally useless and at times annoying I was able to tune him out plus I enjoyed the fact that all the characters showed up and it was the first time that Super Sonic actually showed up in an animation. SatAM though I felt captured Sonic’s personality back then really well along with AoStH. The only thing holding AoStH back a bit for me was it was a bit too slapstick…especially Robotnik. Even though I love Long John Baldry’s work (R.I.P.), I prefered …even when it sounded like he was creaming himself at times.
This blog that was put up Sept. 15 tells of some of the changes they made to Sonic 4.
Sonic '06’s OST is garbage. I always wondered why people say it’s great. It’s muted, soulless, not nearly fitting enough for the type of game Sonic and company really should be in.
That said, despite (correctly) believing all the 3D Sonics have been garbage, they tend to have great music. I still listen to a few Shadow the Hedgehog tracks regularly (Cosmic Fall is beast). But nothing beats Knuckles’s observational rap crew from Sonic Adventure 2.
Awww Specs lol. Strangely I didn’t pay too much attention to Shadow the Hedgehog’s music even while running through that game over and over again to complete all the stories and I ended up paying more attention to 2006’s music even though I couldn’t bring myself to finish that game during the brief time I had it. What other tracks in Shadow do you reccomend…just out of curiosity?
The track that plays when you fight the GUN leader and Sonic
Both “ARK flashback” stages
Cosmic Fall, as mentioned
The fight with Eggman
Eggman’s final lava base
Westopolis
The city stage where Knuckles asks for your help in finding the bombs
I suppose I should admit that two of Sonic '06’s tracks impressed me: the city in the future, and the fight with the Egg Cerberus.
NINJA EDIT - An aside, while on the topic of Sonic '06: Silver gets a bum rap. He’s not a bad character; it’s the game he debuted in.
Also, Sonic Heroes has great music. I love, love, love Final Fortress, Metal Madness, the song that plays in the FMV where Metal Sonic transforms, the boss themes, and “This Machine.”
Dr. B’s theme songs involves a perfect mesh of every musical genre.
ok, played sonic 4 for a good bit and it was every bit as trashy as i expected. that dude had it right when he said it feels like a sonic advance game. im not the least bit disappointed cause its dimps, but i hope episode 2 is better somehow in terms of level design though i’m pretty sure the problems with the core game like physics are still going to remain.
Even though Sonic Advance 1 and 3 were decent, the thing about Dimps is they do Sonic level design VERY differently from STI, the dudes what made Sonic 2/3/K. Dimps, how do I say this…
Dimps lets their creativity get the better of them. They find ways to show cool uses for Sonic physics, then they put you in Dragon’s Lair-esque situations requiring a very limited number of correct responses (often 1) lest you fall in a gaping bottomless chasm.
Remember Wing Fortress in Sonic 2? With the giant pit underneath that punished your missteps with death? Dimps LOVES that shit, to death. But Dimps also apparently loves Uniracers, because, even in Advance 1 and 3, it’s less about the platforming and more about the pointless running.
I’m not surprised to hear Sonic 4’s level design is less than stellar.
Dr. B-designed Sonic games feel fast, play great, combine the best of both old and new, and only exist is Alternate Dimension 5By.
There’s athread on Neo Gafthat I’ve been reading/listening through for the past few hours that’s a appreciation of the music of the series. The tracks that he picks as ‘best of’ are of course his opinion but he digs pretty deep in pulling in some nice info and research on things. I didn’t know that Dreams Come True actually had the rights to the original Sonic theme from 1 and 2…if that’s true that’s a pretty good explaination as to why it’s never shown up in another title. The ‘work that sucker to death’ lyrics from the wXLQHs89c-U&feature=related"]boss theme in Sonic CD came from this old song. I’m also quite surprised at myself that I never made the connection between Toot Toot Sonic Warrior and since I played that game to death when I first got my Game Gear.
Edit:
I liked the medley’s that played at the end of the old Sonic games…so why didn’t they use to incorporate both halves?
