Solo vs Duo vs Trio - (Wo)Man Teams - Ratio Discussion

We have no idea if solo vs team going to be good or not. But Im confident that Skull girls development will make the necessary changes if their needed.

Yeah we do. This game made a lot of great modifications to things from other fighting games, but it didn’t change the major reasons from CVS1, CVS2 and MVC2 as to why 2/3/4 characters are better than one.

Seriously, kick some ideas around though how do you balance out a solo character in a way that isn’t more life or higher damage output, without changing the fundamental character?

While life and damage are significant factors, the lack of team options (assist/alpha counter/DHC) is what will do Solo players in. The difference in life/damage from Duo to Trio roughly represents the difference in firepower and options, but Solo will need to have a lot more life/damage to make up for not having an assist… to the point where Solo can easily kill an assist with one small opening (e.g. one Solo super kills an assist). I’m talking XF3 damage, here.

Just won TWO tournaments for Skullgirls today, at two different places. No one took a character off of me using a solo team. That shit is free, and you all need to stop being lazy and learn a secondary. Until someone wins a tourney in a notable region with a solo team, or until it’s patched, I’m going to assume this conversation is fucking pointless, and ignore anyone talking about it.

I have and that’s the solo should have extra meter depending on opponents team size.

I really hope that solo characters don’t end up being non viable in the long run. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mvc2 and I love tag team play. But I will always love solo fighting above all else when it comes down to it.

I want to learn lots of cool teams and explore the game, but I don’t want solo to end up being the Skullgirls equivalent of low tier teams. That is, the tantalizingly cool option that remains unattainable because of the enormous odds surmounted against it.

Tools > Damage though, as everyone else sad. I guess the only hope is if someone finds a way to take every assist punish into a kill, which could turn the tides.

Y’know what’d be kinda interesting? If a solo char always had rounds according to what they were facing. 1v2 has 2 and 3 has 3[eh probably 2 is fine] - team stays 1 and out and the solo carries meter round to round. Also I’d like them to do the TTT2 thing and regen red life slowly [maybe half the rate?] when not being hit. Kinda annoying that even two player teams can regen effectively raising their lifebars to match 1s in addition to the fact that they require min 2 combos to kill.

Ultimately I imagine solos would have to have a skill that teams wouldn’t to compete properly, probably the ability to solo alpha counter, but I think the above would an interesting thought

I mean that’s probably not that relevant, and it’s a weekly, and I ultimately agree with you that solo characters are going to be dead, but yeah. I think they’re currently viable, but once people start getting consistent with their execution that’s all going to end.

Solo filia is probably one of the better ones, but I’ve played him online, and it’s easy to zone out. People are losing because they challenge stupid shit, and solos do a ton of damage. Start playing with a brain, and suddenly you’re winning because of assist usage.

Or how about Vampire Savior style health regen (not fammliar with ttt2 so can’t say how different it is from Vs). That might be useful.

I think its the same? Just health regening the red/white health when you’re not getting hit. Its just annoying to see the red bar still pop up when there’s NOTHING you can do about it. Actually, how about it recovers regularly when you’re doing nothing, and at half speed when you’re in block? Really make it a grind to kill solos as well as granting a boon to getting locked down for awhile.

I’m waiting for a solo Parasoul to rape everyone at a tournament. She can be pretty scary by herself if played right.

The reason 1v1 has rounds is because the life is a lot less than anything else if you 1 round 1v1 so a 2 out of 3 round 1v1 makes it more like total life when teams are used.

Ignoring recoverable health, 3v3 has the most life, 1v1 (3 rounds), 2v3, 2v2, 1v3, 1v2, 1v1 (2 rounds).
