Solo vs Duo vs Trio - (Wo)Man Teams - Ratio Discussion

I been rocking two gal team with Cerebella and Peacock and it has been working beautifully for me. I believe that duo and trios will be the most optimal as time goes on as teams will have full access to all the game’s mechanics compared to solos. I run Solo Bella on occasion and I have to put in too much work to gain an upper hand.

Might as well stick this in the first post instead of what you have there.

Basically, the 3 in 1v3 has about 8k health and the 2 in 1v2 has about 9k health per character.

Why everybody hating on Solo reams in here? If you have a hit confirm bnb into 3000+ damage you can normally wreck a duo or trio like it’s nobody’s business

The trouble with Solos is they don’t have a reliable way to actually get that first hit because assists cover the multi-character teams too well.

Being able to deal a lot of damage means nothing if you can’t hit your opponent.

Exactly… not do you see two ratio 2s that much. Always take 3 ppl in and you get health recovery in the next round.

SG will be a 3 vs 3 in due time no doubt.

Imo I think that Solo needs to be buffed. I find it too weak. Solo should atleast have more HP than 3 man teams. Teams just have too much advantages over Solo and I feel Solo should be buffed especially with 3v1.

call me crazy but heres an idea if Skull girl decide to buff Solo. how about solo0 gains an extra meter depednat on macth ups. 1 vs 2= 2 meter stock, 1 vs 3= 3 meter stock. Though it does makes wonder about 2 vs 3, should the duo get meter too. Personally i don’t think so because they have all the essential stuff with balance states.

You can set it to be 2 out of 3 as well in the game options IIRC.

I think ratio 1 is good depending on which character you use. I’m using Parasoul and so far I have no problems since she’s pretty well rounded. Has footsies has mixups has pressure etc.

Yeah it’s like everyone becomes ST Gief or R4 K Raiden when they’re fighting you solo. If they hit you, you get blown up but that’s if. People will get hit and blown up early of course but as time goes on options will will beat swinging for hits by yourself.

If something is going to change to give Solos a better chance vs Duos and Trios, it’s probably not gonna be a life or damage increase.

I personally feel like certain characters need it. I know I need Solo because I need the hp because I’m mistake prone.I feel like Double makes things easier to manage in solo and can be used really well when we make use of all of her mobility options and traps etc. However, due to the opinions in this thread I’m beginning to question my motives.

Like i said in the salt thread, solos only have problems if you got some asshole running Parasoul/Double. I mean I understand zoning. I play juri for god’s sakes and working on Morrigan in ultimate, but Parasoul/Double is just being a bitch IMO. It might be asking alot but maybe something should be done where depending on what characters you have teamed up, a certain one or two should do less damage while the other does normal or more. In this case parasoul should do less. Because she does enough with zoning to keep out and very likely even kill without an assist or tagging. But as soon as you get close she calls an assist and runs. If she did less damage you have a better chance of surviving longer so you might be able to get in and put an end to it.

EDIT: I have good intentions with this post and there is stil a bit of salt in it. I don’t mean to insult anyone with it.

Duos, because 5 super bars = 6 super bars when DHCing from a level 3 to a level 3 :slight_smile:

I’m of the mind that both 2s and 3s are viable, it’ll depend on the team which you’ll want. Some characters have awesome synergy as a Duo, and might not need a third wheel. Other combinations make very strong teams of 3.

If you need more HP wouldn’t you still be better off with 3 characters? As the game evolves combo damage goes up and make one character more of a liability. Just thinking about what ratio 1 A-sakura could do to a ratio 4 in that CVS2…
Marvel operates the same way, theres almost no reason to take one character over three, especially in a game with assists.

Does anyone else feel that there should be rounds with 1v2? It feels like matches end to quickly the way it is

I play solo because It allows me to become comfortable with that character. I can’t stress how i team base games how usually good with one and yet mediocre or scrubby with another. I find it much easier for me to learned my character. training mode can only do so much. I feel i can only learned my character unless I play them consistently.

Thats a different story, and I’m doing the same thing. I’m playing solo valentine right now and trying to slowly work in Parasoul, and after Parasoul then painwheel.
I want to take solo time with all of them but I have no intention of running any of them solo when its tournament time.

Lost by using 1 character
Assists (anti air, coverage, combo extending)
Life gain during tag out
In game matchup changes
Alpha counters
DHC (safe DHCs)
an “untouchable” life bar when time is about to run out

Having a second or third character gives you multiple ways of avoiding death not available to someone with one character.

In the end this game was made with team options in mind and just out of sheer options you’re going to have to go to teams to cover more bases. Pretty much the only thing 1 character has over 3 character teams are nothing that involves actual TOOLS and that’s a big problem at high level play. At high level play TOOLS and who has MORE TOOLS is everything.

When the only thing balancing one character is health…that means you’re going to get a limited set of characters that will be viable by themselves at the highest level of play. The game was made with the ability to set up teams and extra options in mind so for tournaments expect people to stick to teams in the long run minus a couple characters.

Honestly the only Size 1 Teams I see working in the long run are Double, Cerebella and maayyybe Ms.Fortune. Everyone else is too gimped without assist IMO when they have to fight a team with more tools and access to more of the game’s actual systems. Not having access to systems is a big deal. That’s not bad though since 3 characters being viable by themselves is still pretty good. Even 2 really isn’t bad.

X-ISM characters were good in Alpha 3 but in the long haul they just couldn’t match the versatility and options of some A-ISM and V-ISM characters. Same will go for this game except to an even larger degree because you get access to more characters and very powerful things like normals and special moves attacking independent of your point character.
