SoGo Bar Fightz Round Two Planning

2 days is out of question for a local tourney. even if we fill the full bracket of 128, there’ll be enough time to finish it. Last time we only had 2 and den 1 TV after 10:30pm, or we woudl’ve finished the tournament around 12 otherwise. Plus if we can haf 4 TVs next time for SF4 den there will be no problem

JS Master forgot how to count. We had 3 tv’s then 4 towards the beginning of the evening.

the last TV was used for merely 2 hrs. + ppl were playing casuals there
I obviously meant we need 4 TV to begin with

obviously JS isn’t the best player in canada :stuck_out_tongue: right JS? LOL

Well depends on what happens during the tournament this time. If 4+ Tvs are used, we could do it in 1 day. I think there was 5 stations that could be used last time? No I’m not bringing my LCD monitor. Something snapped in the back and it’s a pain.

Tipping problem? Are you telling those 3 beautiful girls had problems getting tips? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? I think I spent more money on tips than on stuff I actually ordered.

Now, Sogo 2. I do think the date you picked Dinoz is a bit too early and like a few in this thread I do believe August would be a better month. The whole event was honestly really great but there were 2 issues that just bothered. Most probably personal but here they are:

  1. How high the TVs were compared to where we sat to play our matches. For me it was very uncomfortable to stare that high at the screen and it can be painful. I know we can’t move the TVs down to eye level, but can we atleast move the sitting chairs a bit back so we won’t have to stare up at such a steep angle?

  2. Sound. I heard this complaint from a few people at Sogo the other night and I actually feel the same way. Playing on TVs without sound is a bitch. I know this might seem weird to some but I honestly base alot of my playing on the actual sounds.

  1. not logistically possible, when we organized it we wanted it that way too. Couldnt’ happen. The benches behind that area cannot be moved (ie. screwed to the ground).

  2. we can turn up the sound. It was kind of an after thought at that moment in time.

Out of all the new people, I thought you would be the one to get when a joke is made lightly on SRK. Gotta grow a thicker skin Herb.

I thought you would be the one to get a return joke and/or sarcasm.

Also,

:coffee:

This emoticon owns.

djkun - I hope you guys aren’t blaming Soul Calibur for SF4 not having 4 Screens. There was a giant LCD right by the projector screen and apparently a extra PS3 Teddy had (not even including Sogo’s). Plus Jay Wangs LCD which I have no idea why it was designated for soul cal.

Sound, I honestly have no Idea why there wasn’t sound. I know the DJ was loud, but it can always easily be turned down. Weird part was I didnt hear ANY SOUND from some of the Tvs. Not sure whose idea that was.

And yea. NEVER DO A TWO DAY LOCAL TOURNEY!! Totally out of the question.

Trying hard not to so called “flame” but if you guys want it done right next time, try to think ahead.

I’m sorry. I’m still amazed I was the only one to request repeatedly to setup up another TV.
1st I was told no space
2nd I was told I have a match…
3rd Someone thought we were setting up a casuals TV where Soul cal was.

Next time guys follow my instructions (again sorry for being a dick) and things will go well.

Depending on when this is, I can make it and even bring a 360 down if need be.

Also, that’s a damn shame on tips, I gave them 2 dollars on a 6 dollar beer because it was the only cash I had left other than a 50

Why aren’t you trying to get involved with organizing this and TX exactly? Now pardon me if I’m wrong but the way it looks right now you’re just saying how it was not how it should be or taking preventative measures to work the kinks out. More whining than trying. Once again I don’t know if you are involved or not so if I’m off base then apologies all round.

I’m not blaming it, it’s just that it could’ve been used for SF4 after it’s done. I didn’t see the SoulCal matches going on after a while but what happened to the station? We had 4 stations after the HDR tournament was done, a 5th would’ve helped.

If there was no sound, all you really needed to do is pump up the volume. There was little sound but you mainly hear the middle TV. Do I have to be the tech support just to press + for volume?

SF4 Sound Issue - My PS3 was used on station 3 (far left TV) and there was no sound from that TV because the PS3 was not setup properly. The audio settings were on composite (and not HDMI). I fixed it after when I found out myself personally but others need to speak up as well. All the TVs in the venue have working speakers w/ volume buttons.

Organizing the SF4 tourney was a big task and once in a while, directors will miss little things like this.

The only issue was space. Sogo is not big enough to have simultaneous tournaments of 120+ people combined. This is of course assuming we don’t have access to the patio. If it wasn’t raining that day, the patio can easily be used to divert some of the congestion inside.

I chose to leave the corner booth intact because the people occupying the space wanted the to use the booth to sit and eat. We can devote all the space to standing room when at the same time we were asking everyone to spend money on drinks and food - people like to sit and eat!

Anyways that’s about it. IMO the next SoGo tourney shouldn’t happen until at least after TX.

Projector will be used for the Fight Night 4 tournament.

Big Greek - you obviously dont know who organized this whole thing…

I voiced everything to organizers. I was IGNORED. PERIOD.

djkun - WTF are you talking about. You guys were going to use the Soul Calibur corner when the manager had a group of TWELVE to seat?!?!

How would it have helped. You had a FUCKING SOGO 42" and WANGS LCD!!! ITS THE SF$ ORGANIZERS FAULT FOR NOT SETTING UP ANOTHER TV!! Overwhelmed my ass.

Jay Wang - You chose to use the the one corner where I specifically asked you to setup a station. A booth could have easily been placed beside the jukebox. Instead you used the small tables (which I told you to use as a station) as a waste of space.

In conclusion, you guys seem to know what you’re doing. You guys don’t need my help.

Don’t be a salty bitch. If you can help make thing smoother next time out than do so. Don’t cross your arms and pout because no one differed to your tourny experience.

Realistically you can’t take all the seating areas for set ups. Not one person prefers to stand on their feet for 8 hours, not to mention the bar had it’s own clientele to serve. You tell people to buy food and drink, let them have a place to sit and do so. Plain and simple. Considering you had 100+ people in the bar and minimal complaints, I’d say you had a pretty fucking successful tourny, regardless of said hiccups. Iron out the creases for the next one, don’t dwell on this one.

Oh I know it went decently well. But there was SO MUCH WRONG FROM THE GET GO!!!

MY Bleecker tourneys, the complaints are Its too small and the windows dont open.

this tourney, I dont even want to go over what went wrong. And understand if I could have been there from the start, THERE WOULD BE NO SOGO!!!

And if there was Sogo, and I was there from the start…

  1. Eric would have got a Punch in the mouth for playing matches while people are setting up.

  2. Registration table would become DJ booth. Space remains the same.

  3. Windows would have been lined with Seats and tables. NO CUBE FORMAT!!!

  4. Middle Table would have been used for seating. Not wiring.

  5. TVs would all have sound from the start.

  6. Soul Cal would be on my LCD and on Sogo Wall Mount.

  7. More tables would have been setup in the less packed area of the venue.

I could go on.

So do that shit up for the next one. Either take an advisory roll and wash your hands of it should your suggestions not be taken or get your fingers in as many pies as possible and show folk how shit is done.

For some funny reason, the reason it was at SoGo made it a bigger turn out than normal.
