SOCD Cleaner Kit Now Available

Oh that also brings up another point that I overlooked. Assuming the diagram is correct, the GND point on the cleaner could go to any of the 3 Common points on the PCB?

Also, it will be a while before I can give an update on whether it worked or not, since I don’t actually have the parts yet. I’m just trying to understand it before I order them, heh.

It would be best to use the ground wire from the PSX cable. I’m hoping that’s the one labelled ‘Common’ next to the 3.3v wire, but I can’t be certain without a meter.

If I were to use your SOCD cleaner and Axis Adapter with a Sixaxis controller what would I connect the VCC on the SOCD to?

You shouldn’t. The SIXAXIS isn’t a common ground board, and wont work properly with the SOCD cleaner.

Ah, thanks!

Sorry for double posting. I’m now looking into using this kit with Gummo’s project Leo PCB. He said that the cleaner should work if it can run off 3.7v instead of 5v. Your OP says that the kit is fine with running lower voltage setups, but I just wanted to check with you. Thanks!

The SOCD cleaner will work fine off of 3.7v; pretty much anything over 2v is copacetic.

So to use this with a x360 pcb, MCC, Imp2, this would be wired from the 360 directionals to this and this to the Imp?

The wires coming off of the left side (‘to buttons’) should go to the pushbuttons. The wires coming off the right (‘to pcb’) should be going to both the 360 and MC pads. I can’t be any more specific than that without knowing specifically how your stick is wired up.

Just to follow up, it worked perfectly thanks. The only problem was that my hands shake too much to solder, good thing I married an artist who can do it for me.

Noob question, sorry: Do I need this if i have a regular PS3/PC Cthulhu and I plan to use it for a hitbox?

No.

alright thanks for the answer!

Actually, the Cthulhu+ does not have SOCD Fix.
Only the Cthulhu+ made for Hit Box has the SOCD Fix.
Hit Box Cthulhu+ is only available in Hit Box purchased from Hit Box.

To get SOCD Fix without buying Hit Box, you buy Multi-Console Cthulhu and flash the Firmware.
Or buy ChImp SMD and flash the Firmware.
Or buy Cthulhu+ and install SOCD Cleaner.

…I just ordered the PS3 Cthulhu too :frowning:

You can get the SOCD Cleaner to go with, if you want.
Or talk to Toodles to fix your order for Multi-Console Cthulhu or ChImp SMD.

Well i just shot him a PM but if not then I’ll probably just end up getting an SOCD cleaner and have someone install it as I’m not the best with a soldering iron

Im modding a SCV Hori stick with a MC Cthulu + SOCD Cleaner + IMPv2… but I have some doubts, hope you can help:

I want the SOCD cleaner to work on the stick pcb, so, how do I need to wire the “To Buttons” part?? Will I need to get cables from my directional buttons to the Cthulu and the SOCD cleaner?? or the SOCD cleaner goes between the stick pcb and the Cthulu??

The SOCD cleaner sits between buttons on one side, and both PCBs on the other side.

The four direction buttons go to the ‘to buttons’ section of the SOCD cleaner. All of the stuff on the other ‘to pcb’ side goes to both of the boards. The Up line goes to Up on both the PCBs, VCC goes to both, ground goes to both, Down to both, etc.

With that specific stick, I personally would make sure the dual mod by itself is solid with everything working and connected, and then cut the 5 pin going to your joystick, solder the 5 wires (ground, UDLR) to the spots on the ‘To PCB’ side. Last, take a wire and solder it in the VCC spot on the SOCD cleaner, and screw it down on the Cthulhu’s VCC screw terminal.

Crap, I just realized my hitbox that uses a paewang pcb doesn’t have this, and may be questioned at EVO. Do games even allow both directions anymore? what does? AE? (at work so I cant test). So, sort of an emergency since I leave in 2 days, will anyone out at EVO have any of these extra? Might have to bring my own solder tools… ugh.
