Adult Swim when it first began was GODLIKE. Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, ATHF, Sealab…I even liked the Brak Show. Then somewhere along the line their heads got really big and they started putting shows that were more on the experimental side but not quite as funny. The anime they began to put on was pretty crappy, and they also did some really stupid things like air the old Mr. T cartoon because LOL IRONY.

I so fucking agree with the OP. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing funny about T&E. Just random shit thrown together by a couple douchebags that, for some reason, garners ratings. I blame the dipshits that give these guys an audience. If people stopped watching this bullshit, wouldn’t be on. Same goes for that Fat Guy Stuck in the Fucking Internet and that other weird one I can’t think of. Main character is like a minotaur and the name of the show has “devil” or “angel” or some religious type thing or some shit like that. This was brought up in the AS thread countless times too.
I wish we could take a trip in the Way Back Machine? when it was Toonami. AS is sucking ass because of the stupid shows they either keep or sign on while letting their golden ones go. They’re suffering from G4 syndrome.
By the way, a hearty fuck you to G4 for getting rid of Code Monkeys. One of the funniest and most original animations EVAR.
I think it’s the fault of a lot of people who saw Aqua Teen and didn’t get why it was great. They thought “Random bullshit = Funny to our viewers.” There is no explanation for half the shit that goes on in Gabriel: Renegade Angel, TandE or that fucking 12 Ounce Mouse Show.
There are all trying to capture that magic that Aqua Teen had.
Except they can’t and you shouldn’t even try to emulate ATHF. It stands on it’s own right. I think I was arguing with Lobelia on AS show randomness. Some shows can do it and others can’t. Metalacalyse is one that’s random and structured at the same time. I originally thought SuperJail was one of those random ass shitty shows until I sat and really watched it to get what was going on. I think that’s the best way to describe ATHF. It was structured in that there is a loose central story with some random antics thrown into it. Hell, even most of the stories themselves are random in the choice of what to talk about (Dickesode anyone?) but they do it in a way that makes sense. T&E just strings together a bunch of non-related bullshit and calls it “funny”. Fuck, I don’t know how to describe it. Someone help me out.
Guess the best way I can put it is ATHF captured a surrealism that was funny while T&E just, I don’t know, has nothing creative or original about it. I take that back, it takes “original shitty show” to a whole other level.
Also, I just thought of another thing. ATHF’s dialogue is great. Clever and hilarious.
Boondocks season 3 is confirmed. Will be out in 2010. Also it’s no secret that Mike Lazzo hates anime and could be one of the factors for more live action BS we get. The again Cartoon Network is pushing the same Live action shit that both Disney and Nick show too.

And no, I don’t think kids give a shit about cartoons anymore. Saturday mornings are pretty much dead, especially on networks. It’s all about that live-action Hannah Montana child star vehicle crap for the most part. Cartoon Network is getting really bad about it. They’re putting fucking Slamball on there and a bunch of kiddy version of reality shows.

Well, love is a strong word, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh at some of their antics. Still not as good as ATHF, Boondocks or Metalocalypse though.
Tim & Eric is one of my favorite shows. Of course it is going to appeal to a certain crowd specifically, as it can get pretty odd. Also, I haven’t met a single person (including those that aren’t fans of the show) that have not liked the Jim & Derrick episode.

personally i like it but everyone’s taste is diffferent it has a bizarre mony python esque humour in that you either like it or you don’t, but i agree tom wuz better.
John C. Riley is amazing, as is Zack Galifianakis. This is my favorite Dr. Steve Brule on wine.
