I just played both games yesterday and i personally prefer the animation and sprites over 3s. As far as the gameplay is concerned the two games felt like they where basically just leading up to a batter game which in turn was 3s. The only thing i prefer in the original was that it seemed like the tiers where more even then they are in 3s. A lot of characters seemed pretty good in that they all had some impressive high damage combo or that they just overall where more effective and useful. I dont think there where any garbage characters like how there are in 3s, i think everyone was to some degree playable at a competitve level.
In regards to the question asked a couple of post before me about the tier list…its been something ive been wondering as well for a long time. I know that there are a lot more guys in the high tier bracket then there is in 3s but to be honest i dont know who will fit where. I just know Sean, Ryu,Akuma,Hugo,Ibuki,Alex and yang all kick ass in that game…i still dont know why they where all nerfed in 3s. Although it is kind of funny that NG sean plays like a 3s Chun-li with those two hyper tornado bars…actually Sean in NG is basically just 3s Ken with better combos and stun damage. I also hate how ryu’s denjin bar was lowered to only 1 instead of 2, he’d be like urien in that once your stuck in the corner the match is pretty much over lol.
The only thing I enjoyed about 2i was that Ibuki actually had a pretty good SA. It just all felt kind of sloppy to me, 3s really improved on the frame rate and animation.
1st game = okay - good
2nd in that series = fuckin’ awesome
3rd and last in that series = way too different compared to the previous games, and is an aquired taste.

Also, whoever said Alex was nerfed in 3s should stop popping pills, he’s bottom-tier in 2i and really can’t do jack against most of the good characters. The only reason he sees semi-regular play is the amount of mind games he can pull against Ken; otherwise he’s down there with Dudley and Necro. Now THOSE two got one hell of a makeover in 3s…so nice.
Man those videos make me cry…why did Capcom nerf so many characters. Its almost like the developers had a bias and just intentionally wanted Chun,Ken and yun to be the best. Man i really wish there was some hyper version of SF3…then we could stop the top tier whoring.

It doesn’t get much play at my house though since my friends always wanna play 3S like I don’t have like 30+ other friggin’ fighting games to choose from every once in a while. (And then there’s MAME…wtf man).:looney:
