Though it’s likely without Melee I wouldn’t have gotten into other fighting games as much as I did, revived a lot of my competitive spark.
I always thought of Smash game like a 4 player version of the Atari 2600 game Joust.
That’s fucking hilarious. That’s like blaming the guy who crashed you and your friend’s sandpaper-circle-jerk session with a female for the lesions found on all your erections.
You know why people don’t like you very much? You take insults to a game to the heart, and make a bunch of stupid ass posts about how srk is stupid for not knowing smash, SWF can be accused of the same thing about SF. People on this forum can’t express there opinions freely without smashers like YOU getting all hostile and turning it into SF vs Smash thread.
Look at the way you carry yourself in your posts, literally asking for trouble. “Shoryuken intelligent discussion? OMG OMG OMG, you guys are usually idiots” Hate isn’t even about the games, it’s about your sensitive ass community that can’t take a joke here and there. “banning nothing new in smash? RAAAAAGE.” Had you and smashchu kept it civil rather than outright insulting people, maybe your community wouldn’t have such a bad rep here.
SRK doesn’t like a lot of games, it’s pretty mixed here. Notice that the only community they TRULY hate are that of the smash community?
This isn’t even targeted towards all smashers, since most of them are cool, its targeted towards smashers like YOU.
You don’t have to invade every smash topic in a defensive manner when there is truly nothing to defend yourself from.

As someone who likes alot of fighting games that routinely get dissed on srk (DOA, AH, MB, Dissidia) what you are doing now is the exact opposite of trying to get people into your game.
How do I know? cause since I got melee for my sister, after years of trashing on that game, I was actually considering finding out more info and learning about it. Then i hit this thread and read your comments. You, good sir, have officially killed any interest I had in the game. Good shit, dumbass :arazz:

Smash honestly isn’t as bad as everyone here makes it out to be, the actual game is alright. It’s just a different style from what we’re used to in a fighting game and that’s part of where the hate comes from. The other, much larger part is that the communities tend to clash as anyone can plainly see in the thread.

Thing 1: I thought this article was interesting when I first read it.
Thing 2: I know this is an impractical suggestion, but I would recommend anyone who really loves fighting games (and for this I’ll assume you already play SSF4 competitively/enough to read SRK) to try and get as in-depth as possible in Melee. Not just L-Cancelling and Fast Falling aerials, but picking fox and waveshining, learning how to edgeguard near perfectly with Shiek, etc. etc. Try going to a tournament even! When you watch a Link vs. Pikachu battle on YouTube, it’s easy to dismiss the whole game as childish and without merit, but even a battle like that can be incredibly technical and ‘difficult’ to play. I would even go ahead and say that fox dittos or fox/falco matches at a high level are just about as technical as a fighting game to be. I love smash and I love ssf, and they’re incredibly different, but that doesn’t mean one or the other should be disregarded.

At least in Brawl’s case this is true, every character is so damn boring items help spice it up and even out some of the characters to be more playable.
It’s good to know Synikal and smashvagina came in here like the last 800 or so Smash players when such a thread cropped up and showed us the stupid side of the community.
I think it’s pretty much down to SRK doesn’t hate Smash (Except a select few), we hate Smash players for being inbred shut-in’s who have a heart attack even associating with other people at a tournament. I mean fuck when Brawl dropped here on SRK, our little community had fun with it, coming up with strats, using items, etc. Then the Smash community muscled in, started a flame war and the whole Evo '08 business just shut that shit down.
If the Smash community doesn’t care for our opinion or like SRK, why do they continually come here for three years when a thread pops up to play high and mighty? Lol, so stupid, we should just ban Smash topics from now on to avoid the wheel of time.
