I just skimmed through the thread, but do you even know if she’s got a lawyer yet? Marriage has a lot of challenges and it’s easy to throw the “divorce” word around as some kind of solution. Maybe she just needs her space and some time to think about things on her own.
It sounds like you’re under a lot of stress right now too between a new marriage, work and school. I would definitely pursue the paternity issue for now, but hold off on any divorce or annulment decisions. The paternity issue needs to get straightened out so you and your wife know what the situation really is: just an ex coming back into your life for a short time or a kid that will be there for the rest of your life.
I’m sure you thought long and hard about marriage before you actually proposed. You should spend the same amount of time and effort before deciding on a divorce. Figure out the paternity situation, give it some time and try counseling. You’re getting a lot of responses from people with bad experiences in relationships, so I thought I’d give you my opinion coming from a happy marriage with a kid.

Sure, the state fucked up because the dude was in jail when this happened, but it followed procedure. He’s going to need to hire a better lawyer to combat this.
The woman has admitted fault and the system still did nothing. She’s undereducated. She had ZERO idea this would’ve happened and she needed immediate assistance for her kid. I can’t really fault her. It’s more of an issue of the poor having kids when they can’t afford it but that’s more than just a race or sex problem.
The state is just trying to recoup what it spent helping to raise the child. That’s what you get in a red state.
So yeah, stop quoting this case because I’m fucking sick of it.
